    - moving WMM project & files to another computer Hello, I created a music video on an XP computer that worked great. I moved the project and all the related clip files to a VISTA computer so that I could utilize some of the newer "effects" (WMM v.6). BUT, even though the project seems to exhibit all the clips on the timeline just fine - it won't play or "publish" because (I think) WMM thinks the original files are missing. Initially, the timeline was blank - but I clicked on<browse for missing file> which SEEMED to bring everthing back in, but it still doesn't play. Does anyone know how to tell WMM where to "look for" files in the case of a computer change. I know that invariably, with such a switch, the files are obviously no longer in exactly the same spot as before - and the project needs to be re-educated as to their location.     - File is too large to save on DVD I created a 30 minute slideshow with music using WMM. I saved it in DV-AVI format because I would like to play it on a DVD player. The size is over 5G and my DVD only allows 4.7 GB. How should I save it or is there a way to make the file size smaller? I tried the best fit option but I wasn't sure which file size to choose.     - Rendering Problems I have a 30 minute film with video clips and bmp photos and wma music. The first rendering requested I free up more memory and suggested â??disk clean upâ??. I did this and then it suggested â??do you want more memoryâ??. I clicked yes and it pulled up all of my programs. I deleted some programs and started rendering. It went OK until about 3 minutes before the end and the video and audio got â??jerkyâ?? and the rendering stopped, saying the video was complete. I removed some more programs, and tried rendering again. This time the same thing happened after only 10 minutes, â??jerkyâ?? and the program is complete. Without removing any more programs, I rendered it again, and this time it stopped after about 12 minutes, saying the program is complete. My source file has taken up about 20 GB of my partitioned 60GB D drive. My C drive has about 7 GB free on my 16GB C drive. SRAM is 512 MB Processor is Pentium 4 1.5GHz Question 1) Is the temporary rendering file on the D or C drive? Question 2) If I cut the video into say 3 separate videos and render each to the hard drive, then place these 3 new video clips on a new time line. Should that work?     - New movie won't save I have created simple movies by using pictures, clipart and such to create a movie. For the first time I am trying to create a movie using video. I import a movie from a website that is unprotected and in .wmv format. I try to create a new movie by using only a portion of the imported video. The selected clips can be put on the timeline and play just fine. The problem is when I try to save the new video to my computer. The save dialogue opens and within about a minute gets to 95% and then stops and goes no further. It continues to say that it is saving and the Task Manager indicates that it is running. But it never completes the save. I even let it go for 12 hours on one try. The same result happens when trying to save to a CD except that the process stops at 55%. This has been the same result on three different computers using XP Pro and XP. What is the problem? Can movies not be made from downloaded videos imported into Movie Maker?     - Soundtrack Transitions Questions for you all. I'm making a movie with a soundtrack of selected songs. Many of the songs are several minutes in length (too long for my needs). Currently, my option appears to be to cut the song where there is a loll. However, even at its best these transitions are rough and abrupt. I'd prefer a more seemless move from song to song. I've found the movie maker tool that toggles the ratio/volume between the soundtrack and narration tracks, but there doesn't seem to be a tool or button that allows one to fade music in and out while staying in the soundtrack.     - how to get a visualization ala winamp? Hi I put a bunch of videos on youtube and I was wondering if there's an easy way to get a visualization to synchronize with the audio track I've put in.... ie: an oscilloscope or something a long those lines.     - gif files and animation I have had Office 2007 for about a year, but haven't wmm since the beg of 2006. When I created a movie back in 06 I used a MS gif and stretched it out for the opening of our Christmas. Santa Claus and his Reindeer in the sky. The legs are moving. I put it in a powerpoint slide and then saved the pic to import pic into WWM. Okay so now I can't get my gifs to do anything. Why not? Also is there anyway to take a gif pic and animate it like in the powerpoint or convert the powerpoint slideshow to WMM including the stuff moving across the slide. ie I have a birthday card with balloons that float up and a airplane with the banner in the back where I added a text file to move across at the same time with the airplane and the audio clip of an airplane engine as it moves across the screen saying Happy Birthday whomever! For example, I want to create an easter video with a picture and have a Easter bunny hop across the slide. If not with WMM is there anything else out there that I can use.     - Collections - how to get rid of all files easily Is there a setting or something that will delete all files in the collections folder when I start a new project? I just created a big project with about 50 files (video, pics, etc) and once I saved the project and went into the Movie Maker later for a different project (not going to use any of the files I priorly used) they were ALL there.     - Import 100+ files? I downloaded a utility that split my DV file into scenes optically. It seems to have worked very well, but I was wondering if there is a way to import all those little avi files into WMM quickly. For now I have to click on each one, and drag it into the storyboard. I tried selecting a bunch, but it only brings in the very final one. For example, if I choose file_001 through File_0010 only 0010 is imported. If you split the original video into three smaller clips and then remove the middle one (where I want to place the still picture) the audio track is trimmed as well and the third video clip shifts forward in time.     - downloading completed film to CD I have Windows XP home edition. I have made up several films in Movie Maker. I have gone to the question would you like to download to CD. I have commenced the download to CD. The process works and it tells me so many minutes remaining and X% complete. It then gets to a figure like 40% remaining and 58% complete. And that is where it stays. Nothing moves from 40 seconds remaining however long I leave it. I have gone out and done the shopping for several hours to see if it needs further time but still there is 40 seconds remaining and nothing changes. I look in Task manager and it tells me the program is running but in actuality nothing is. I then stop the recording onto CD and so nothing is transferred. Note at the beginning when trying to download the program tells me the capacity of the film. It is approx 100GB and well withing the capacity of the disc at 700MBs. I don't get a message saying I am trying to download too much so it is not that. Am I doing something wrong? What does the 40 seconds refer to? Is there a way to put this right and complete a transfer to a CD. Another question once above is solved can I transfer the film to a DVD instead of a CD .     - Where to get to install? Hi there, I am running XPsp2. I have also gone to the update.microsoft.com website as given in these instructions: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx Problem is...there is no Windows Movie Maker installed on my machine, and Windows Update does not list it as an option to download (it is not listed in High Priority nor Software Optional). I have also clicked on 'Restore hidden udpates' but nothing appears. Short of ordering a CD from MS, does anyone know have any insight as to what may be going on here?     - Advice needed! Hi, Last year we made a 20min video of our son's first year of life using both still images & video clips. When we came to save it for some reason it wouldn't go back onto the Video camera or onto a DVD - we could only save it onto a CD. We really wanted to save to DVD as the Great Grandparents don't have a computer but have a DVD player!     - Video freeze and Sound distortion,skip Need help. I have Xp 2002 Home edition Service pack 2 with 2.40 GZ and 512 RAM. I have a 40 min. video with transitions and sound. Whe previewing the video skips,freezes while sound continues. At other times the sound skips and at times it all freezes up. I have done 30 minute videos before witha few short audio skips before.     - Display Screen skipping frames While capturing video the display screen skips about 10 frames at a time so the effect is like still pictures every 3 seconds.     - movie maker 2,1 goes wrong , cannot retreive past posts movie mover does not save the project for me and it freezes while a new picture was added. it stops me to maximize the application the keeps hanging for hours. I notice a new version has come up but it is only for windows vista. is there a newer version for mce2005? my project is about 80mb at the moment. is it acceptable to add more pictures?     - Red X When trying to publish movie to dvd or computer, I get message that files are missing. I moved a few files around so I can see how this would happen.     - WMM will not import the files it makes. A while ago my computer crashed for some reason, with two consequences, one was that the clock was reset to five years ago when I first installed Windows XP, and the other that WMM no longer plays it's own .wmv files properly. It can import and play .wmv files not of WMM making (all these lack sound attachments though), but when trying to import anything it produced itself (or by other people's WMM programs) it says the right codec has not been installed. Wmv files already imported will not play with sound on the edit bar, and if additional sound is added under it (.wav, .mp3 etc), those do not play either. When clicking them without putting them on the edit bar, the preview will show a black screen and the top of the screen will start to shiver. Could somebody please help me fix this? The entire program is useless this way since all my projects are too complicated to be saved in one run, I need to be able to reimport. I'd like to try re-install the Windows Media Audio codec perhaps, but I don't know how? I haven't found any options either to re-install WMM in its entirety. Tag: burn to DVD Tag: 64820

    - DVI filed sized compressed to DVD? I am transferring video from my camcorder to my computer...for the first time. And then transferring the video to a DVD. I assume that for the highest quality, I should transfer from the camcorder in a DVI file. However, this file will end up being 12+GB and it's under an hour of footage. My DVD capacity is only 4.7GB. What is the best file format to burn this on to a DVD? Is there some kind of compression that happens when I transfer the 12+GB file on to a DVD or do I really have to burn 3 DVDs?     - My saved wmv movie stops playing after few minutes but music conti I successfully saved my project as a wmv file to my hardrive but it won't play. It playes for about 7 minutes and then the slideshow stops but the music continues. I've tried to save it over several times but the problem persists. Each time I saved it, it stoped playing after only a few minutes. The whole movie is a combination of still images and short avi files with some mp3 files and is 35 mins long. It saved fine but for some reason Windows media player won't play the entire movie. Anyone knows what the problem is and how to resolve it? So much time and work went into this and no movie....     - DVD works on Laptops & partly on DVD Player or PS2 I burned my first MM DVD w/ Power Point pic with backgrounds and no transitions. I changed it to JPEG and attached music and home movie clips. I saved the movie file as DV-AVI(NTSC). I burned on a DVD+R and DVD-R both 16x speed. I used Nero7 to burn and chose the highest quality. I also tried having it choose auto. I have burned 3 DVD's. They were all perfect before burning. They are perfect played on DVD players on our XP laptops. They play great on a DVD player on TV and PS2 until around the 90th slide then the music warps in mid song and the slide stalls. After a few more slides it plays fine again and then it warps and stalls again then plays again fine through the movie clips.     - Audio out of sync on final movie only I created a movie consisting of pictures and video. The video clips are of varying resolutions and file formats. Most of the video has audio tracks. I added a sound track to the video using the Audio/Music track. When editing and viewing the movie within Movie Maker, the video images sync up with the lyrics in the music track exactly as I set them. All is well here. Then I create the movie file. The video images are now showing later than expected. In other words, the lyrics are earlier than the associated image. When I go back to the movie project, it runs exactly like I originally set it.     - titles and credits in Vista Ihave imported an avi file into Movie Maker in Vista and after editing the video into several smaller segments, i decided i would add a subtitle to some of the segments. This previewed fine and as you would expect, with the text apearing over the top of the moving image. When i went to publish the final video to my computer, i found that the subtitles appear against a green background that takes up half the hight of the screen, the video being squashed to fit in the remaining half. i was always able to burn my project to a DVD+R until my system crashed, and
i had to take it in to get it fixed. now that my computer is fixed i cannot
burn my project to DVD+R like i always did. i put the disk in my dvd player
and it says "wrong disk forman". i've also tried a CD-R and it says the same
thing when i put it in my dvd player. can anyone help?? i have a project that
i have to burn asap.
