Adjust slide duration to match music length? In PhotoStory?
I want a quick way to throw a bunch of pictures and two songs together

automatically adjusted to match the length of whatever song(s) I

Is this possible in MovieMaker? How about in PhotoStory?
I saw a post in this forum from a few months ago suggesting that
PhotoStory3 could do this, but I don't see the option.
Can anyone offer advice?
Or, if not possible, alternative software that is cheap or free?

Blank space at end of video
I had this problem and tried this newsgroup.
Then I tried all the suggestions made but still had the same result.
I then clicked on "show storyboard" and then clicked the + magnifying glass.
As I scrolled from the end of my video to the end of the blank space, I came
accross a small audio file that some how got stuck near the end of the blank
space. I deleted that file and my video snapped back to the place I expected
it to be. Just when you think you know it all, some other thing pops up.
Finally I am done.

I just had to reformat and I did have it working before. I seem to recall

now it doesn't. The setup disk for it simply installs Video Wave 4 and I'm
not interested it it. Any help is appreciated!

Re: six hours of .wmv on a DVD?
Jerry,
All I am trying to do, as I explained, is put six hours of low-
quality video on a DVD and play it in a DVD player, with a menu
to allow selection of up to 14 different segments.
I'm sure I've seen references to doing this, but I have not been
successful in finding the references again.
You said I should review the help files. MyDVD speaks to the
fact that up to 440 minutes of MPEG-1 can be recorded to a DVD if
Dolby Audio is used and not transcoded. However there doesn't seem
to be a way to do that if the source file is .wmv format.
Cari said to burn as a data DVD to test the player. How do I get
a menu to work with the DVD player if all I do is burn an MPEG-1
file as data? What is the required DVD file structure?
The convert query at videohelp.com doesn't find any answers for
the WMV to MPG conversion selection.

If you have a DVD player that plays MPEG files, re-encode them as MPEG1
files and you can fit 4 or 5 hours on one DVD.... you do not burn them as a
Video DVD, but as a Data DVD. But make sure your DVD standalone can cope

I have an old VHS tape, recorded in 6-hr mode in 1983, with
14 episodes of 20-25 minutes each. Using a Canopus ADVC-100
to convert the VCR output to firewire input to the computer,
I've made .wmv files of each of the 14 episodes, and edited
in a title to each one using moviemaker. I've saved them in
the "Video for LAN" 768Kbps .wmv format which is 640x480;
the .wmv files range in size from 105 to 153MB, totalling
less than 2GB.
The .wmv files play fine using Windows media player; the
quality is just as "good" as what is recorded on the old VHS
tape. Using MyDVD, I've burned DVDs, each with a maximum of
three episodes on the DVD, with a menu for selecting the
episode to view. They play fine in a DVD player. The problem
is that it takes five DVDs.
How can I put the 6 hours of video, the 14 .wmv files, on

played in the DVD player? Video quality isn't an issue,
given the available source.

Speed up clip TIP and questions
I wanted to speed up a clip in WMM2 more than the default 2X; so I doubled
the speed, saved the clip as an AVI then imported it back into Collections,
sped it up again (2X), saved it to an AVI, re-imported it again and then
finally applied a 2X Video Effect to give me a very speedy clip (without
apparent loss of frames or introducing very choppy video).
The question I have, is there any loss in AVI quality the more I apply this
technique to a set of clips?
Also, I have been reading on PapaJohn's website that WMM uses AVI-I versus
AVI-II, what do DV camcorders typically save to tape, AVI-I or AVI-II?
Is there any consumer way of editing AVI-II or is that left to the
professional equipment?
Any advantage to using AVI-II or is it lossy, the more you import and save
back to AVI-II (if you can)?

Ever see a stray frame/image copied into a transition??
I am editing an hour-long video with about 100 clips. I think I am
encountering an error in WMM, but not sure.
When I split a long clip into two clips, and then delete one of the clips,
sometimes a single image/frame from the deleted clip appears in the
"transition" for the next clip. It is only a single frame/image, but it
ruins the video because it is out-of-context. My video appears choppy, with
a single image spliced between two clips.
My question is "where is this single image stored?" It seems to be stored
in the "transition" between clips. As I scroll through the video frame by
frame, the stray image appears "between" two clips. If I view the storyboard
screen and click on the transition box, I can see the stray image/frame. I
wish I could delete it. I am not using any transitions in this video. The
menus do not allow me to delete the transition because WMM thinks I have not
specified any transitions.
Has anyone seen this?
