    - New starter - advice on file formats for best quality. I am completely new to digital video and have a specific project I need to help with. I have agreed to display three 5 minute videos (each edited down from 30 minute -1to1 interview) at a charity conference. The conference is take place in large university lecture theatre with full AV facilities. I have managed to upload video into movie maker from Sony HandyCam DVI but will need another camera as no external sound mike for interview and that seems crucial. However it has raises some queries: What would be the best format to save the edited video in for good quality and high quality sound (projection will be very large screen)? MovieMaker ahs large number and does not seem to mention MPEG or should I save to standard DVD format. How should I best go about optimising the sound in MovieMaker for the interviews?     - playback & saving mpgs Win XP Pro, service pack 2, movie maker 2.1 AVI, WMV & some MPG play ok and can be saved as movies in any format. Some MPG only play sound and will not save, message says the file has vanished or I've run out of disk space, neither is true. MPG of MPEG1 Layer 1 type may or may not work, works if thumbnail shows in explorer, no other MPG type works???? All my MPGs play fine in media player just movie maker that's the problem.     - Scanned picture movie I have been scanning pictures and using them to create a movie in MM. The project will play through all of my pictures and music in MM. After I have saved my project as a movie to my computer and play it back, it will get hung up on a picture and not go onto the others after it. All of my music will play through though. I can delete the movie file, go back to my project, open it again and save it again as a movie to my computer and it will hang up on a totally different picture, usually only a few minutes away.     - How do I add clips to an existing DVD? I film my kid's B-Ball games each week and burn them to a DVD. Is it possible to add a new game each week so that I would have the entire season on one DVD? Each game takes up about 5GB of data in its raw unedited format. Afgter I run it through Movie Maker it is a much more managable size but I cannot delete the original capture and still keep the smaller versoin for future burning.     - Import just parts of a video tape When importing video in MM, you seem to be invited to import the whole tape or just parts of it. Except you can't just import parts!     - Title overlays I am having trouble putting titles on my photos because no matter what color I pick for the letters it ends up matching the picture so you cannot see the words. I saw a video where the person had white letters with a black shadow around them, so they showed up against any background.     - Find / Replace for pictures I am a super novice, but I was able to make a movie with still pictures, music and title overlays. I added transitions, and adjusted the length of the pictures to fit the music. It is for the JDRF Diabetes Walk for a Cure, and has pictures of my daughter. She has two diabetic friends that we want to use the same format, just plug in their pictures, keeping the transitions, titles and timing the same. But when I try to replace a picture, I end up having to add the new one, delete the old, and then adjust the timing. I am looking for a Find / Replace option that just switches photos.     - mswmm "save movie" and nero audio issue Help-I edited and saved two "projects" then saved as a "movie"(s). I open nero "smartessentials" and create a dvd. I browse to "add video files." I add both wmv files. When I preview to either add chapters or just preview, the audio is corrupted. I successfully burn dvd's with MovieMaker using the exact same clips/files, and play them using mm, nero, and a plain dvd player. But if I try to put 1 or more files together using nero, the audio corrupts. I found "filter" options in mm, and I unchecked them (4 Nero filters listed) per mm instructions to supposedly resolve "conflicts" or "issues...".     - Rendered Video Crop Cuts Off Top of Frame Hello, I am importing .avi format video 512x384 30fps into MovieMaker from a GoPro Hero3 camera. I have a clip in which most of the relevant detail is at the very top of the frame. Whenever I render to .wmv file (NTSC 4:3), the frame is cropped so that I lose the data I am trying to follow. I have tried no effects and also the Pixelan A1 Hold effect. Both have the same problem. I also tried most of the available output format options in MovieMaker (High Res Video, NTSC, etc.), all result in same crop/clip problem. Does anyone know why my rendered video is getting cropped so that the top ~5% of the frame is lost? Related question: Available output formats for NTSC 4:3 seem to support very small 160 pixels wide, small 320x240, larger 640x480, and 720x480. I am sure there are a few more options for PAL and 16:9. However, I cannot find a way to render to output 512x384 to match my input resolution. Is there a way to render 512x384 resolution?     - Can't save as a movie file OK, I am pretty adept at WMM. I got a newer computer to be able to handle the requirements of video editing etc. However, after a few months of success (also having converted analog to digital and edited it, movie maker will no longer allow me to save my projects (long OR short--and I mean even 2 minutes here) as an AVI-DV file. I refuse to save as anything else as I want to keep the quality (especially of my DV stuff). I have spent HOURS with MS support and am on level 3 at present but STILL they cannot figure out the problem. When I save as AVI-DV, it starts to save and the minutes count down, but then they stop and begin to count up to infinity if I'd let them. HELP!!! The whole reason I bought this new computer was so I could do these videos of family footage to give as Christmas presents. PLEASE help!     - Editing/Trimming-Can you delete portions?? First time using Windows Movie Maker and I am hoping to delete portions of my 28 min clip but I am not sure I can do this with MovieMaker. Simply put I would like to trim my movie by removing portions. But the clip trimming seems to just allow me to keep the portion that I trim and not the opposite.     - Can't import .MPG files anymore Many times I imported .MPG files from my Sony DSC-T9 photo camera in Movie Maker (version 5.1 build 2600.xpxp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300:ServicePack 2), vs. 2.1.4026.0).     - Capture From DVDs Using a JVC DVD recorder I have transferred all of my VHS and Video 8 tapes to DVDs and subsequently to the hard drive. Now I would like to edit the films in Movie Maker.     - Adjusting audio fade in/out durations I'm using Movie Maker 6.0 from my Vista.. I'm adjusting the audio on my video clips and music files to fade in and out but the time that the program takes to fade out a song from full volume to silence is very short - so short that it's not far from sounding like I'm not using the fade at all. I know I can adjust how long the video Fades are in the Transitions menu, but can I do this with audio fades? Hello, I have used the windows movie maker on imported video in the past
but now I have a new Sony Handycam that uses an internal hard drive for the
storage medium. I can download my videos, view them with Windows Media
Player but can not use the Windows Movie Maker to manipulate my videos.
When I try to import a video, I get:

c:\video folder\video_name.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too
many methods to fire events from.

Any thoughts on how to fix this problem so I can use Win Movie Maker again?
I'm using Windows XP at this time.

Movie Maker usually doesn't work with MPEG2 source files, so you're into
having to convert them to other files.... see my website's Import Movie
Source Files > Video > MPEG page.
