I have a HP Pavilion dv9628nr laptop with 4GB memory andVista Home Premium.
My camcorder is a Canon DC50 DVD recorder.

I cannot get the Movie Maker 6 that came with the Vista to import .vob, IFO
or BUP. files from the Camera DVD when in the camera or when I mount the DVD
in the DVD R/W drive on the laptop.

When I try to improt into MM6 from the same files that are saved on my hard
drive I get CODEC missing messages.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Yes they will play in media player and Windows Media Center. I downloaded the
programs suggested by "Papa ?" and got the files to convert to AVI files, but
I'm still struggling with getting the videos to run in MM6, I just get a
blank preview screen. I also downloaded the sound files he recommended, but
I'm not techy enough to figure out how to convert the Dolby file to a WMV
file.

Marketing people speak with forked tongue. I bought this DC50 camcorder
because it was supposed to be simple. Oh well.

Any help is appreciated.
