When I add video to the Timeline and play, I get a resulting distortion. The
sound and video play very, VERY slowly. However, if I play the video from the
"Collection" boxes, it plays fine!

The system I am using is: WIN XP, 120GB HD Space, 1GB RAM (Speed 200MHZ) and
the graphics card is "GE FORCE FX5700 8xGP with 256MB of onboard RAM.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can play back the sound and video at
normal speed. Any help greatly appreciated.

TIA, Derek

That's often a codec issue... what kind of source files are they? If AVI,
what codec was used to make it?

Thanks PapaJohn

I created AVI files using MM2, sending movie from a digital camcorder.
Re: Codec - sorry. I am ignorant about codecs. Where do I find what codec I
used?

I've gone to Tools>Options>General and checked the "Download codecs
automatically" box following your message. But this has not helped.

went to your website where you say:
"Version 2.1 adds a new tab in the Options window, a list of installed
codecs or filters that you can deselect or select to have them work with, or
not work with, Movie Maker. "

I am using MM2.1 - yet I do not have the list of installed codecs from the
OPTIONS window
