I have (what I thought was) a complex project (until I read some of these posts) where - after a "successful" save to my local machine/disc, the compiled video "slides," transitions and Title Overlays just halt at some point, though the audio/Music continues as laid out. My first reaction was I had reached some undocumented max for MM2. After perusing several bulletin boards, I have since learned that there are numerous completed projects much more complex than mine. I believe the next logical place to look is at my hardware(?). I have a Compaq EVO Laptop (Mobile CPU 1.70GHz) running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 w/ Service Pack 1. There is 512MB RAM and 15.2MB available disc space

My Project is 0:24:18.40 long and contains approximately 357 images used for slides, each with one of the canned transitions (I use every transition numerous times throughout). There are title overlays on about 1/3 of the slides in addition to approximately 24 minutes worth of miscellaneous music clips

I can play the Project in it's entirety using the preview pane in Full-Screen mode, but it obviously does not give me a finished product in which to share

Any genuine insight will be most appreciated

Rick

Rick,

It's not the length of the timeline, but the complexity of the project. It's
a memory-related constraint.

Yours sounds like a good candidate to warrant splitting into sub-projects
and adding them together after rendering the parts....

.... see the Problem Solving > Can't Save a Movie page of my site for some
other comments.

can't really help you, but wonder if you could direct me
to a place where I can figure out why all the dozen images
(jpg) when added to the end of my 22-minute movie [from a
floppy disk] end up with Red X's. The images appear OK as
long as the floppy disk is in the A-drive but as soon as I
take it out, red X's appear.

Hi,

The red X's appear because MM2 cannot access the files
used in your project when you remove the floppy disk
where they are located. MM2 needs to have access to the
jpeg files used in your project while you are working on
the project, and during the final rendering of your
movie, i.e. save to your computer or DV camcorder.

You could move the files from your floppy to your HD, and
relocate them in MM2. Or you could just use your floppy
until you complete the saving process for your movie.

I don't feel this "green" but apparently I am.... If I split the project into, say three parts, and save them each as a .wmv file, will MM2 allow me to join those three parts into one .wmv file or will I have come full circle and be struggling with size now versus complexity?

3 big clips (in length of time) are probably about the same complexity as 3
short clips.... so the issues won't be the same at all when combining the
parts.
