    - Movie-save problem, I got audio, but I miss images I'm busy trying to save my movie. I tried getting it on cd and on my computer, but I get the same problem. The computer saves the movie full lenght, so it seems allright. But when I'm starting to play the movie, it shows that he saved all the audio, but I miss the images after 1,5 minute. (the movie is 20 minutes in total). Everytime I try to save it, he saves the images somewhere between 1,5 and 13 minutes. Why isn't he saving the whole 20 minutes?     - Windows Movie Maker hangs Windows Movie Maker hangs Hardware: Dell XPS 410 2.6 ghz 3 gig ram 871gig free disk space Software: Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 sp2 Camera: have a Sony DCR SR40 w 30gb drive software that came with camera: Came with PIXELA ImageMixer software which i use to save the clips from the camera onto a folder. They get automatically saved as .mpg Windows Movie Maker Version 5.1 Windows Movie Maker Version 2.1.4026.0 (so it says both version 5.1 and 2.1, i guess they are one and the same) = = = = = my problem: Scenario 1, Everything works fine: Scenario 2, WMM Hangs = = = = = Scenario 1, Everything works fine: I start a new project, i am in storyboard mode I create 4 titles i then put transitions between the 4 boards (3 transitions) i can change transitions, and play the thing. i can do this for hours on end. Like i said, everything works fine. = = = = = = = = = = = Scenario 2, WMM Hangs Start a new project import into collections: file: pozole01.mpg size(62.7 MB) i then drag the file and put it into the storyboard's first board. i can play the file fine. It is 58 seconds long. i will now put a title: tools/add title to the beginning/done,add title to movie. will now put a transition between title and clip. i drag 'shatter-in' to between the 2 boxes This is working fine. i can play and restart. everything is great Will now add a 2nd clip: i only have one video in my collection, so i better put another one: i have now imported pozole02 into my collection file: Pozole02.mpg size(105 MB) I have dragge pozole02 into the 3rd rectangle in the storyboard: PREDICTION-WMM WILL FREEZE SOON! (it is now 9:33 PM) i know it will freeze. It is just a matter of clicking to see if it is still respoding. I click on 'clip' i get the menu. i click somewhere else, the menu goes away. i click on the pozole01 file sitting in the middle of the screen. nothing happens wait, am i frozen?? Has the app hung?? YES Reality: As predicted WMM is now FROZEN! (It is now 9:34 PM) i can still move the mouse, but WMM has become totally unresponsive. It will stay like this for as long as the computer is on! Be it minutes, hours, days or months or years! Should i look in the event log? What's the point? I have looked there before, but obviously its not going to write anything because it has stopped working! If i were to kill the app, then something would get written to the log. . . . but what's the use? "oh, i think somebody killed me" i alt-tab back to wmm. The verty top of the window now says this: "Untitled - Windows Movie Maker (Not Responding) ok, i go to event viewer it is now 9:43 pm. The last event is from 9:17 it is an info event from live update. (WMM froze at 9:34 pm. No event. but of course i knew this, because i have looked before i been at this for a few days now) Ok, here's my question What did i do wrong? Wait, i know i did nothing wrong.     - MovieMaker copys pics cant open new project w/o adding old one We have made 3 movies, but they are all scrambled into one. When we click to open MovieMaker we cant start a new file, it just opens all of the imported media that we have used before. The box to auto open the last project is not checked. Also there are about 6 copys of each picture all of a sudden, and when we try to open a movie it says it is not a valid file. I should say, we have vista home premium. Thank you.     - simplest app to cut out bits of a dvd and screenshots Hi All I work for a number of schools and they are always trying to enhance their pupils' learning with visual/interactive stuff instead of boring old school methods. They were doing topics on World War II and the teachers wanted to cut out video clips of famous films, eg Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbour, etc, so that the compiled content would be OK for young eyes. Problem is the current crop of 'stick a DVD, select a chunk, extract it and save it as a video file' software appears to be rubbish! The only decent one that I managed to find was a prog called MovAvi that was simple to use and was OK for screenshots, but the left and right marker function that allows the user to grab a snippet of video is crap. Everytime you move the left marker it bounces back to the beginning again there is no fluid movement with it. Any ideas on better software for this specific task, whilst at the same time not being a newbie's nightmare and a techie's dream? Thanks Tag: Video Capture Device Tag: 62081

    - Can't Save to DVD Recently getting error "can't save to DVD". Has something changed recently that anyone knows about? In May, I was able to save and burn DVD w/ no problem and larger than this file. I have split the file in half & I still get error. When the file is single file I get the other error commonly seen about space, file may be missing etc. All my pics are in one place; music too so it's only searching 1 place to find them. I have move my temp folder to new specific folder & out of local settings and my partition is NTFS. Still no luck. When I tried saving to my computer so I could burn separately, it started to save but said "520+minutes" and then kept going up instead of down.     - Crashing Problems with Windows Movie Maker Today i decided to start working on a video with Windows Movie Maker. I am using Windows Movie Maker 5.1, and i worked for about 2 hours on the video and i had no problems at all. I got my video up to 3 minutes long and i had over 20 clips on the timeline, i tried to add another clip (this clip was no different than the last 5 i added, it was even part of the same video) to the timeline, and then Windows Movie maker crashed. I received no error message, it just closed. The file format i am using is AVI (Which i am sure is compatible because it worked for the first 20 clips). I thought at first maybe it was just bad luck and something small happened, so i tried again, and the same thing happened. So then i decided to try to add a DIFFERENT clip, so i added a clip that i had added into the movie earlier that had worked fine, and it still crashed. So that tells me its not a compatability problem... -------------- Also, perhaps this would help you in helping me with my problem - When i am re-loading my video after the crash, the DiVXCodec taskbar icon just keeps appearing and disappearing, as if it was closing/opening over and over again, and after the video is fully loaded, there is no DivXCodec icon on the taskbar.     - How do I reset movie settings to standard instead of hi resolution I filmed in slow to get best quality, may have made a mistake. my approximately 2+ hour video is 30 GB!+ when put onto my computer.     - Speed up a video without trimming the clip or using speed up fx? Is there any way to edit the duration to make a video shorter without trimming the clip and avoiding using the extreme speed up video effect? Something similar to adjusting the playback speed in Windows Media Player perhaps?     - computer shuts down when i try to save a movie file Hey, I'm looking for a little help and I figured this would be the best place to receive an answer that will fix my problem. I've made a few videos that I really like and I'm trying to save them to my computer but every time it begins the saving process, my computer shuts down before it can reach anything from 20 to 30%. I've cleaned up my computer significaltly and it still shuts down even on the lowest possible settings after running for a couple minutes. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me, thanks.     - Importing video into MM When I import video into MM, i'm not able view the entire video clip. Is there a limitation in MM for the amount of video you're able to import at one time?     - No audio on saved movie HELP I need to save this movie convert it and burn in the next 12 hrs but it will not let me save in dvavi format because of the size it goes for 25 mins and is only photos and song.     - Importing from Sony HVR-A1U I have Movie Maker 2.1 installed. I just purchased a Sony HVR-A1U/A1N and set it into stardard DV mode and made a small test tape. the Sony supplied cable into the HDV/DV socket and the other end into a USB port and powered up the camera putting it into playback mode. Then I started Movie Maker and attempted "capture video" but was told that MM could find no capture device. The Sony literature is a bit sketchy but perhaps it is saying that the USB cable is only for still pictures. It might be saying that an optional iLink cable is necessary to import video.     - Best codec to use for reliability Im just wondering what the best format to encode into is. I plan on doing low compression formats or maybe raw data, for the actual recording sessions, but for editing, I want to cut it down to a high compression format. I've tried DivX, but for some reason, Movie Maker seems to have a LOT of problems with that. Is there a way to either get DivX to co-operate, or is there a similarly size-reduced codec that could allow me to make a pretty decent length movie, that could say, fit Youtube's 10minute 100MB rule.     - Importing Videos I am new to using Moviemaker and I taped using a DVD camcorder. I formatted the disc to VR which seems to be the problem. I found software that took the .vro that I uploaded from the camera and turned it into a .mpg. I saved it to my flash drive. I am at work, trying to edit the material from my flash drive, but I cannot import the file. I can view the video with Windows Media Player. When I try to import the video, the message says, "E:\PepRally.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from" Also, I am running on XP Professional (moviemaker version 5.1) and at home I have Vista (moviemaker 6.0), which does allow me to import the video.     - Dragging I'm wondering, first of all, if I'm in the wrong discussion group, as this one is listed under Windows XP and I'm using Vista and MM 6.0. I'll just ask my question anyways, if someone can hopefully answer. A technique that I used on my old (now broken) XP laptop when movie editing was to drag a video clip I wanted into the Audio track so I could use its sound on top of my existing shot. However, my new Vista machine has MM 6.0 freezing up every single time I do this. Does anybody else have this problem and, if so, is there a solution or patch I'm unaware of? Or is a way to circumvate this problem? System specs: Windows Vista Home Premium HP Intel Duo-Core processor @ 1.86 GHz 1 GB RAM That should be enough to handle MM, don't you think?     - Seeking advice to import music file for WMM Hi: I just purchased a song that I'd like put put into a WMM file I'm creating. I paid for the download on Zune and it says it won't allow me to download it to WMM as it's right management protected. I also had the same song purchased through iTunes and that won't upload either. I thought it was a codec issue so downloaded various codec but that didn't fix the issue -- I noticed that there is a lock icon on the MP4 icon so I think it's rights protected. My only purpose for purchasing the songs was to put it into the WMM file. Is my only option to purchase the music CD at the store? I am concerned that I will right into the rights management issue again. Usually when I have created WMM files, I've burned the music CD to my PC and uploaded the song to WMM.     - Adding sound to DVD of 8 mm Home Movies I copied to DVD Ihave been unable to find a way to add music to old silent 8 mm movies that I transfered to DVD using the new Sony DVD-VR30.     - Sony Hi8 Handycam movies won't download I have an older Sony Hi8 camcorder that only has composite RCA and S video outputs. My older Sony Vio computer has composite RCA and S video inputs. I can view my movies through the computer as a T.V. input so I know that the computer can detect and read the camcorder signals. For some reason, movie maker does not recognize that my camcorder is plugged into the computer and I just get the message, no capture device detected. I have tried everything I know.     - Movie Maker did not work! I had someone who scanned about 100 pictures for me on their movie maker. She burned to DVD and nothing happened. She E-mailed them to me and they came up with red Xs. I was able to get it to my hard drive, but unable to edit it. I went out and bought a new computer and had my old files put on the new computer.     - Blurry pictures and texts on the storyboard and avi file I imported my pictures to the collection pane. When I look at them using the viewer, they look sharp and no blurriness. However, when I drag the pictures to storyboard and play the video, they are blurry. I also created dv-avi file, and the quality of pictures are as bad as the ones that I saw on storyboard.     - capturing from a panasonic nv-gs120 Hi, I am using windows xp sp2 version, on a compaq laptop and am unable to capture video from my panasonic nv-gs120. The computer recognises the camera, i.e it pings when it is plugged in, and the version of MMV is 2.1.4026.0 When i start MMV and hit capture it comes with with the usual wizard box and shows the panasonic as the dv camera, however after i continue on through the wizard, choose the file name for the download and go on, it comes up with the following message "the video device cannot be used at this time because there has been an error when starting the device" I am using a dv cable direct from the camera to the laptop. What is driving me crazy is that when i use another program, i.e muvee autoproducer 4.5 it has absolutley no problem detecting and downloading the video from this camera. I also have a desktop, a dell running xp professional, and MMV on that computer has no problems at all downloading from the panasonic.     - Still Image Hi. I am trying to create a movie that can be played on TV screen (DVD format). I am currently working on creating still images. Do I have to consider tv screen safety area (about 10 percent from the edge of pictures) when I create still images?     - photostory 3 quality using movie maker? I have made many photostory3 projects using high quality images. I save them at the highest quality setting to the WMV format. As i'm sure you are all aware, this does not allow me to play these files on macs, as the codec is not available. I was told and read many websites about important my photostory3 project into moviemaker and then resaving it. I have done this 3 times, each selecting different formats (DV-AVI, high quality WMV, VBR WMV). Some of these have taken 12 hours to save (the DV-AVI was 8gigs). But none had the same quality as the photostory saved WMV. In fact, I was very dissapointed with the poor quality of the MM2 saved file. I have made many films with Movie Maker, but all of a sudden I get the
following messages. "The device is not responding. Close any other
applications that is using the device and try capturing again." I press OK
and then get "The video device cannot be used at this time because there has
been an error when starting the device." The device is not showing in the
'Video Capture Device' behind the messages. What am I doing wrong all of a
sudden?
