Movie Maker. Which worked no propblem. Saved the movie to a CD put it in the
DVD player, all I got was a meassage stating unsupported file. Can anyone
help a novice what am I doing wrong?

I could be wrong, but it sounds like in MM you chose 'Save
As' and put it on a CD. If so, you only saved the Project
file, not the actual movie. For DVD watching, you have to
choose "Save Movie", and save in DV-AVI format to your
hard drive ,then use 3rd party software to burn a DVD. Be
sure to use firewire to import your digital video, also
saving as DV-AVI on import.

You need utilities to encode the movie in mpeg format and "author".
