    - Poor Video Quality I made a 5 minute movie in Movie Maker 2. I rendered it to my hard drive and the video looks good when I play it back on my computer. I also rendered it back to my camcorder.     - I have lost all my panes and video control and screen ??? Absolutley stressed out of my mind, spent all bank holiday week end trying to work out what is happening !!! Everything was fine until I upgraded XP from Home edition to Professional ...then the fun started .......after not being able to install most items I had before I undertook a complete format using the XP disk to perform it .........I then installed my other hardware etc on top .......... Then I found that Movie maker had changed ? I now do not have /cannot find my movie task pane i.e Capture video/ edit movie/ finish movie/ movie making tips . ? where have they gone ? top right of movie maker I used to have up one level in collection tree, create new collection view clips in collection by thumbnails or details ?? Thumbnails now appears over the collection window nearer to the left ? . What is really worrying is that although everything works except the items missing if I connect my video camera to record another screen comes up with a screen on it and allows me to take control of the camera ( play , record , stop etc ) But hey, that should happening in moviemaker ?? so where has that screen come from ?? I can save the movie to either movie maker or my videos but to undertake further recording I have to turn the video camera on and off ..... I have turned to my recent book purchase Movie maker 2 and it has just hit me right now that I am using version 1.1.2427.1 and the book is movie maker 2 so I will endeavour to get version two and see what is the difference Lastly when I go to the help file on movie maker I get .....the procedure entry point GETIUMS could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL ? what does that mean If I press it three times I do get access to the help files Finally A card with three ports came with my Canon video camera ( why three way ) anyway I have had to take this out to install XP Pro and have connected it to the existing firewire port of the pc ....is this ok or am I likely to suffer later ? The machine I am using is COMPAQ Presario, 55500UK AMD athelon XP3000 = 2.17 Ghz 512mb DDR 120g/byte h drive ATI radeaon 9200 ( graphics card? ) 128mb video ram Now is this enough to keep movie maker happy or would it require extra RAM ( or any other suggestions) if I am to continue with movie maker so that I can grow into it so to speak rather than having a minimum so to speak Can you give me some re assurance that I am on the right track or should I put the lot through the window now before it all drives me really crazy ????     - Drops audio a couple of times when transfered back to DV camera A 3-minute segmented video with titles and fades (MM2 Project file) when saved back to camera (.avi) I get an occasional drop in audio. Raw .avi plays fine by themselves. When saved as a DSL optimized file works great too (audio, the works). Only when saved back to the camera do I get the drops. Any ideas? I've tried to isolate.     - Sony DV error "Class Not Registered" I get an error when I tell MM2 to capture parts of the tape manually, it comes back with an error "Class not registered". the same thing happens if I try to capture from the entire tape.     - Judder after a transition I am using MM2 on an AMD 2 GHz system w 512 Meg RAM. Whenever I insert a transition in a movie and transfer back to the DV camera, there is a frame or two of judder just before the transition.     - Movie Maker Language Having installed a French language copy of Movie Maker 2 (on a French Language Windows XP), I would like to install instead WMM2 in English (because I find more adequate litterature in English (e.g. "From Zero to Hero").     - How to playback on a DVD player Thanks papajohn. I finally did get my project burned to CD. Now I am wondering how I can get it to playback on a normal DVD player. If I am correct, a CD with images would still playback on a DVD player right? Does it have to be saved to a DVDR to playback on a DVD player or can I just use CDRs. I already tried using a CDR, but when I put it in my DVD player I it read: NO DISC. Is this just the fact that it needs to be on a DVDR or does there need to be some type of conversion program so it plays on home DVD players?     - Images Freeze 1/2 way through playing I'm able to save in a high resolution (which I have to have for full screen), but when I play the video about halfway through the images freeze.     - Difficlty Saving As Movie File. Hello everyone! I am experiencing a difficulty with my movie maker! I really need some assistance, please!! I created a slieshow with photos and audio. In the preview looks fantastic! But. I've saved the project as movie1.MSWMM on my computer but I can't save my project as a movie file to my computer, or burn on CD or send via E-mail or any other options... Anyway, I got this message saying "Cannot Complete the Save Movie Wizard, Your movie was not saved successfully" and â??Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try againâ?? Now I'd like to know why movie maker can't save the files as movie but only to MSWMM? I've tried everything. All my files are there, it just doesn't make any cents I tested, i made another two, and few of really short ones, and still doesn't work Do I maybe need to reinstall my movie maker?     - Analog capture and conversion..... Bought a Pinnacle Studio 8 product for analog capture from both VCR and Analog Camcorder. Did a LOUSY job from the very start. Pinnacle doesn't tell you that you need to buy a separate sound card to capture the audio, as thier software does not use the resident audio inputs from most computers (I've tried 2 different machines) so that was an ordeal Yesterday, successfully captured (with Pinnacle) a VCR tape. Used WMM to "convert" the file. Took HOURS (on a brand new high end machine). Video came out choppy and lousy. So.... Now I guess I'm gonna try capturing from VCR to my digital camcorder and try it that way. WMM SHOULD allow for capture through someone else's capture card OR.. Pinnacle should make the captured file into something that other programs can use and use and recognize. It doesn't. It makes a proprietary file type that only Pinnacle can recognize (and consequently burn to DVD) but that didn't work either. Got an "error" when trying to get Pinnacle to burn the DVD.... oh well I'm starting to think that maybe I should buy one of those new VCR/DVD burner combos and the heck with all this wasted time and effort.     - Codecs? I have spent a ton of hours on a presentation but can't get it to burn to a CD. All of these are jpeg pics that I am trying to transfer. So does that confirm they are not CODECS? I have no idea what that even is? I can burn a smaller version of the same pics but when I do this one (just under 1000 pics) and I try to save it hangs up at the window where it shows the % left and the estimated minutes remaining.     - There is NO CD BURNER I finished my first slide show. Added music, titles, effects, the works. Plays great. Save it to hard disk. Tried to put it on a CD and the program insists that there is no CD in my burner. WRONG. There is. Changed CD. Re-Started Windows XP. Nothing, same message.     - Saving Movie File I made a slideshow with still photos, transitions and audio tracks. When I save the project as a movie, it reads as 125MB. Then after it burns onto the hard drive, in my video folder it reads as 62MB. When I play the movie back on Windows Media Player, the audio runs through the entire sequence. However, about half way through the slideshow the pictures freeze and stop coming. I have tried re-saving half a dozen times. I cannot figure out why the project is not saving the entire slideshow, but rather just all the music and half the still pictures. Please help!     - Importing music The Movie Maker will not import music from my Microsoft Media Player 9 program. The music does not show up as existing at all in the My Music file even though it has been copied into the Media Player. When I tried burning to cd, only some of the pictures were there but all of the music selections were there. Win XP Home, Sony TRV-330 camcorder, Windows Movie Maker 2. Have successfully used this before, but now when I use the capture video area, I get the message "an unknown error has occurred" after selecting either "automatically copy whole tape" or "manually copy section of tape"
I know the camcorder is connected properly since I have just successfully downloaded digital stills....
