    - Can capture video from Sony DV recorder, but no audio I have searched and searched to find an answer to this problem but I am still stuck. When I try to capture video, here is what I do: - Capture from video device - Audio device: When I choose the default, "SigmaTel audio," the slider button on the "Input level" can slide, but the color values rarely change while the clip is playing (regardless of whether I set the slider high, low, or medium). When I instead choose ""Sony Digital Imaging Audio." I can not move the slider in the "Input level," and it is already set to completely the lowest setting, but there is more variation in the colors in the bar while the video is playing. - Audio input source only has one option, "microphone" - I choose where to save file, choose "Best quality for playback on my computer" - Then I use the "Start Capture" and "Stop capture" and check "create clips." When I then preview the clip, whether while still in the collection or in the storyboard, I can not hear any audio. I also tried changing the audio levels in the storyboard, changing it more toward "audio from video," but to no avail. I can hear the audio just fine when it is capturing. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! My son has cerebral palsy, and just stood for the first time tonight independently at age 2 years, 4 months, and I'm desperately trying to send this clip to our family!     - Movie Maker 2.1 error message; Sony DCR-SR90; capture device I've just bought a Sony DCR-SR90 hard disk video camera. I can connect it to my XP computer via USB 2.0 and copy the .mpg files across ok. Then I get stuck. 1. If I try to import an .mpg clip to Moviemaker 2.1 it starts ok but then fails giving this error message "I:\MP_ROOT\100PNV01\M2U00036.MPG could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from" (strangled ending). 2. Moviemaker does not acknowledge the DCR-90 as a capture device, even though I can see it on my XP File Manager.     - I'm stuck :( Fading Stills In & Out of Video I'm putting together a video that (so far) incorporates splicing of the video, a couple transitions and effects and a mp3. What I'd like to do is add 3 pictures within the video at different spots. I'd like them to gradually fade in and out with out any *stationery* time. IOW, as soon as it's faded in, then start the fade out effect. That's what I'm having a hard time doing. I can't seem to get the still picture to fade in and out at a slow gradual pace. This is a sleeping baby's "dream" sequence to a lullaby version of the song, Dream.     - WMM Not Running Optimal I run a clean and defragged machine...Dell 3.2ghz Pent. 4 with 1mb of RAM, 20" wide format flat panel monitor. With all programs (except Norton AV and Zone Alarm) closed, WMM is slow to react to commands and playback can be choppy. I'm using WMM v.5.1, XP2. Is this typical? I have been considering doubling my RAM. Surely my processor is fast enough. Would adding more RAM be the answer?     - someone please help-nothing works I am about to go over the deep end. Here is my problem. I have a JVC GR-D33U mini Dv camcorder and no matter what I try I cannot get a movie off from. I have tried everything that I can pull off the internet, the sequence on how I turn it on, a new fire wire cable, looking for multiple entries in my registry, nothing works. Here is the scenerio: the software is regonizing the camcorder( calling it an AVC Compliant DV Device) and will control it(ff, rewind, stop etc...) but WILL NOT capture anything off of it. I have tried downloading the KB885222 patch and it will not load. I have seen in my research that this too seems to be a problem. I know there must be other people out there that are either fighting or have fought this same issue. Any and all advice greatly appreciated.     - Hardware Acceleration I have problems with wmm freezing, especially when I have a long project (1/2 hour). I read at PapaJohn's about changing the Hardware Acceleration to 3. I did that and I found it cut the loading time in half, however, I noticed all the pictures were now pixelated. It I keep it at the 3 setting will that affect my final project that I want to burn on a DVD? I think not, but I want to be sure. It is driving me crazy when it freezes after a couple of edits and then I have to wait 15 minutes for it to load again at the #6 setting. Thanks for any help. Tag: Timeline Tag: 53842

    - Using my DV camcorder with Windows XP Hi, Before asking anything specific, could anyone recommend an understandable book or books on th subject? I have an older JVC camcorder that took wonderful pictures, but at the time, transferring and editing them into useful films seemed too difficult or time-consuming. Now I have Windows XP-Professional and a good computer, both with most bells and whistles. I have a bunch of older manuals and some specialized software, other than MS Movie Maker, too. I want to be able to edit my DVRs into usable films that I can transfer to a DVD and give away or show. I want to use the camcorder for conversations on the Internet and found the little camcorders sold in all the stores to be awful quality and easily broken, so I hope the good JVC camcorder will work to transmit live, realtime video to the PC and that I will be able to chat, or whatever is done, to talk to others. Similar to above I would use the above direct connection to the PC, to record, instead of having to record first on tape and then transfer this to the PC for use. This, I am not sure can even be done. If you have suggestions on reading, I will be able to get started and forego any detailed questions now. Your help is appreciated.     - WMM2 Effects and Transitions Missing I'm new to using WMM but am enjoying it so far. One problem though... I have no transitions or effects in the collections pane. My PC at work was recently undated to SP2 and has 60 Transitions and 28 effects, but not my home PC. I an running WMM 2.1.4026 on WinXP Home SP2 on 1.7Ghz Intel Pentium 4, 1Gb Mem, 300Gb Hard Drive. Looking for a more technical explanation of how WMM2 links to Transitions and Effects. All Movie Maker files appear to have the correct dates and versions (compared to my PC at work). Help please!     - Rotate an MOV file? Being the idiot that I am, I recorded a video with my digital camera turned 90 degrees.     - movie maker 2.1 gives unknown error when capturing video from camc I've a panasonic pv gs180 minidv digital camcorder (bought yesterday). I'm trying to capture the video using windows movie maker 2.1, with my camcorder connected thru USB high speed (my laptop is toshiba satellite A85-S107, which has high speed USB, I checked on internet too). Now, all my steps pass exactly the same way as shown on microsoft.com. I tried 2 ways. In the first one, I chose "automatically copy all the tape". In this, when I start capturing video, it says it's rewinding the tape (step 1). I see the tape rewinding on the camcorder, which is good. Then it says it's capturing video (step2), and over here it gives an error saying "an unknown error has occured". It doesn't even go to step 3 which is "creating file". I see file as 0KB. In the second attempt, I chose "Capture parts of the tape manually". Here, it instantly gives an error saying "an unknown error has occured". I've tried many things, shutting down my laptop & camcorder, but no success. I've talked to a lot of cust service ppl at panasonic, but no help. Pls, help me to figure out what is this error.     - Capture analog video I have been successfully capturing video by opening MM and selecting the Dell movie studio device as the preferred capture device. I had to remove the Dell movie studio device which I now cannot reload and was wondering is the capture card somehow linked to this as I can not capture video any more. If possible I dont want to have to buy a new Video capture card and any help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Running a dell Dimension 8300. Happy to provide more info if needed.     - Hanging/crashing Hello I have just installed some new drivers for my Nvidia Graphics card and I can't now get WMM to work. What I do normally is record a television programme using my ComproPVR TV card and then use WMM to select the frames that I want to keep (i.e without trailers or the last few minutes of the previous programme). This has worked perfectly in the past however now WMM either crashes half way through importing it or if it does import it, any click anywhere with the mouse causes it to lock up and I have to terminate using CTL ALT DEL. The new Nvidia drivers now have a changeable setting (size/colour) for my monitor and a changeable setting for my TV (size/colour). Could it be the new changeable setting for the TV that WMM doesn't like or could it be the fact that I recorded this particular TV programme before I updated the Nvidia drivers?     - Import Nightmare - MM2.1 For a really long time I have run my Digital 8 Sony through my ADS Xpress to create an .mpg which I then run through MM2.1 and resave as a neat and clean WMP file. Now I have a laptop with MM2.1 and I want to xfer files to it to work on while I'm on the road. The problem is that I run the Digital 8 through the ADS Xpress and make my .mpg file (which is totally usable on my desktop through MM2.1) but as soon as the file gets onto my laptop I get "An interface has too many methods to fire from" and nothing is imported. I'm confused it is the same file and the same program so why doesn't it work on my laptop? Can I simply udate a codec for MM2.1 Laptop? or Am I forced to go to another software provider and and another step in my process in order to get the same job done on my laptop?     - mp3 player with viewing screen I purchase this tiny mp3 player having music, FM, recorder, photos and movie viewer among a lot of other things. Using movie maker I'd like to take a Spanish language mp3 add subtitles in middle of screen is okay as song plays in sync with song. With a lot of work I can get subtitles to appear on screen though how do I add those subtitles to mp3 so they play together? Mp3 also has ability to view lyrics using an *.lrc file.     - old family movies need help Hi all I hope someone can help me, please. I want to make these for gifts for my children. I have taken a silent home movie of ours and copied it onto a DVD from video tape using my stand alone VCR and DVD Recorder/Player. So now I have a DVD that I can play and watch on our tv. so far so good. But now what????? I want to make a finished DVD for everyone but would like to have music playing in the background ( kinda boring watching old family movie without sound) I have WINXP Home computer large hard drive, lots of memory etc. Computer is about a year old.     - Unable to Save Movie File I've tried everything and I can't get a single project to save as a movie file. I keep getting the message "Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free desk space available, and then try again." I have 512 MB of RAM, plenty amounts of COMMIT memory, and plenty of hard drive space. I already tried reinstalling Movie Maker, loggin in with a different user, and running utilities like regmon and filemon.     - calss not registered error message Hello, I have a new PC that was delivered with XP home pre-installed. I'd like to use Movie Maker but when I try to import any audio or video I get the "class not registered" error message. I've searched a lot and found the instructions, batch files, and lines relating to regsrvr32 and have run them all with no joy. I have media player 10 and nero 6.x installed. Both work at playing anything that I through at them. Nero even has a similar editing tool that works as well but I'd like to try out Movie Maker. Any ideas? I thought about re-installing Movie Maker but there is no way to do it without an SP2 install and that was already installed with XP Home on my new PC. Any ideas on how to re-install Movie Maker?     - Movie shows on negative colors Hi, excuse my english. We are doing RIGHT NOW a class on how to use Movie maker (the basics). We have 21 pcs on the laboratory, and none projects the movie good. It opens on WMedia Player but the colors are like negative colors (pink, blue and lime green), it looks awful, we cant even see what the objects are. If you go open the movie right from WMM, the only way to do it is Import file... It doenst even show up in Open. Why is that?     - Why Doesn't WMM import mpeg? (unofficially) I didn't have problems in the past and imported and editted mpegs fine. Now I'm getting an error message saying that the mpeg file has no information. All previous mpegs can still import, but new ones have an error message. Both old and new files are on the same memory stick. (source - Sony digital camera) The only thing I can think of is that dreaded microsoft update, that has probably interfered with my WMM. Is there a way to downgrade my WMM to an earlier version? Or Is there another editor out there that supports ALL files? Everytime I ask for help on this subject I'm advised to convert my files. Why should I when I didn't have any problems in the 1st place. Why should I now have to pay for a service as these converters are not FREE! I went to 'help' in WMM and the quoted text below says that mpegs are supported. SORT IT OUT MICROSOFT.     - Changes of format/zoning for Burning DVD I have recently burnt a DVD using WinDVD Creator (avi format) and it wold not play on the DVD player to TV.     - Incomplete Save I've been using Movie Maker 2 for months and have ran into problems before with video filters which have all been fixed, but now I'm having more problems with saving. I made a video, about 7 minutes long, with some music, quite a few video effects, and moderate scene cuts. I go to save it as a movie on My Computer, and the progress is extremely slow. Usually, it takes 5-15 minutes to save a movie of mine, but this time it took about 1-2 minutes for every 1 percent progressed. I've made movies much longer with way more scene cuts and effects and audio that have taken way less time. Anyway, the progress will get anywhere from 60-80% (I've tried saving it 3 times) and then jumps to 100%, saying it's completed. So, I click Finish, and go to watch my movie, only to find that the last few minutes of my movie are non-existant. It only saved the first 4-5 minutes of it. PapaJohn, I have visited your Can't Save a Movie page and have found nothing on this subject. I have plenty of memory, I don't run other programs during saving, I have no video filters selected, I don't get any error messages, the project is obviously not too complex as I have saved more complex projects with no problems before... I'm basically at the end of my rope. I have checked many, many, MANY forums and FAQs pages and have found absolutely nothing. I have even done a system restore. NOTHING!     - Saving MM file to PC's DVD writer - How? I can succesfully copy a n edited MM video to a video CD but there are only a few machines that can read it.There doesn't seem to be an option for writing directly to DVD or for exporting in a form the DVD writer can read from my hard disc. Is there anyway to shorten the timeline. The video clips are so close
together that I can't edit them. I noticed there is several uneeeded minutes.
If I can get rid of them wouldn't that make it seem like my time line is
larger?
