    - "This file cannot be imported. Make sure that it is a valid file. I am a pretty new user of movie maker- been using it for about 3-4 weeks now on making some home video dvds. I've just recently ran into a problem that I've exhausted all my knowledge and effort into trying to fix. I've been editing all my video in movie maker 2.1 and saving it as .wmv file, then I would import it into a 3rd party dvd creator program (InterVideo/WinDVD Creator). My problem is recentlly not being able to import the file, when I open the .wmv file in dvd creater it gives me the message "This file cannot be imported. Make sure that it is a valid file type and that it's contents have not been corrupted." I just started getting this message the last few days, prior to that the importing process it worked fine. I've researched that this might be related to codec type. Movie maker saves the .wmv files with audio codec - 9.1 & video codec 9.0. How can I fix this so I can import files again? and why would this all of a sudden start doing this? I've been told to try reinstalling movie maker 2.1, but I think it was on the computer when we bought it 4 months ago. I go to the windows download site and it sounds like it's part of service pack 2. Does that mean I should reinstall the whole service pack 2? I'm very confused and frustrated by all this.     - Cannot preview video effects & transitions Hi! I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2 with WMP 10 and WMM 2.1, with k-lite codecs pack FULL and Divx installed Recently I found that I cannot see the video effects and transitions in windows movie maker. In WMM, when you double click on a video effect, or video transitions, you see a preview of them on the right WMP window. But for my case, nothing appeared.. only the timeline bar jump from 0s to 2s. The screen is totally blank. However, I can preview the "Title Animations" without problem.. so basically it applies to video effects and video transitions. I've checked to make sure the picture used for preview are there.. I even reinstall SP2 upgrade again, but the problem still exists. Any advice pls?     - Recording Movie back to Camera from Movie Maker Where to begin ok here it goes, I have a Panasonic mini DV camera. We have created our movie in movie maker with all the bells and whistles and we are unable to record it back to the camera to then transfer it to VHS. Can someone please help? I have tried several things. Like converting the movie to Mpeg, and all that stuff but the movie comes up not recored. It looks like it is going through the recording process bit nothing happens. What else can I tell you: I am as well using firewire. My note Book is a Compaq 2195. I have even used the program Blaze MediaPro to convert the MVi to Mpeg in serveral diferent ways. With and without SVG extensions with DVD extensions with mpeg2 I have treid all of these and still the blue screen. The closest I came to getting it recoreded was to be able to play it on the note Book on a cd.     - Photos "stick" on playback I just made a movie consisting entirely of still photos (some digital, some captured on scanner), music and titles. When I play the movie, sometimes the video will get stuck on one picture, holding it on-screen far longer than I intended, followed by a race through subsequent photos.     - Pictures are blurry When I try to put still pictures in the time line or even just preview them from the imported file, they are blurry and look like crap. This also happens on another program called "Power Director 3", so this is making me wonder if its my computer. I am running an HP pavilion ze5500 laptop with the 2 256 ram and 2.8 GHz pentium 4 processor with the Radeon IGP 345M digital flat panel. I've tried different screen pixel sizes for my computer but changed nothing.     - Retrieving movies from DVD-RW I have some home movies I shot on an old camera. With my DVD-writer I was able to copy those movies to a DVD, but I would like to put some of them up on a website I am building and would like to use Movie Maker to edit them.     - Codec Problems Microsoft Mpeg4 v1 and v2 avi files For those interested I recently had some significant problems with files saved as Microsoft MPEG4 V2 (4cc:MP42). Moviemaker 2.1 and mediaplayer 10 both reported the problem as an invalid file as did GSpot and AVICodec. After bashing around with the files (basically trying to start a number of files and failing (I was getting desperate) ) one finally worked....then they all worked. Rebooted.....problem recurred......more bashing....files work.....reboot....you get the story In desperation I started to burn movies out as WMV.... I then uninstalled the latest divx pack (divx521xp2k).......... ....... ...... It all works fine now. MM2.1, MP10, AVICodec, GSpot.....all fine....     - Capture problems Help me please. I'm a novise trying to use movie maker. When trying to capture video from my DV camera, in MM1 that has come with my XP package, I get as far as the Video settings screen before a semingly abreviated error message pops up saying "In interface has too many methods to fire events from' when i close it and try again an unspecified error message appears.     - No audio on DV-AVI output Saving files as DV-AVI goes down without a hitch, but when I play it in media player 10, it looks for a codec, says error downloading, and then just plays the video, no audio. I tried opening the file in various other editor applications and also GSpot and either they give an error or dont work. Just to be funny I opened it in Quicktime Player and it worked, FINE.     - Toshiba Qosmio Just got a Toshiba Qosmio for Christmas and I am trying to find out how things work. I am interested in the MS Movie Maker.     - Sony: Capturing video via firewire is dark I have a Sony TRV38 and can capture video with the firewire , s-video + audio or the analog audio / video. (I have the Nvida and Sony and WinFast Capure drivers. I can capture s-video / composite with Nvida or Winfast and only DV with Sony) Thinking the firewire (DV output ?) would be better I was suprised to find out it was dark compared to using s-video or analog. In fact I would say my results were better not using DV Capture, but S-Video in making movies. Does this seem strange? Thoughts on what I might have not done right?     - Movie played on DVD player for TV is choppy I have a Sony Handycam TRV22 and saved the video to my computer using a USB. When watching the video it was beautiful. Then I used my Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 to make a DVD movie gift with photos and the video. The photo part was beautiful, but the video was awful, blocky, choppy, etc. I had that program adjust it for TV DVD viewing but something didn't work.     - Movie Maker not Reading my Camera i'm using a canon ZR50mc camcorder and a dell running XP. i've installed a fire wire card and have sucessfully used it to capture video from my camera. within the last couple days, something changed and now the computer does one of two things. it either does not recognize the device at all or it does for a couple minutes and then goes back to not recognizing it. this problem first happened about two or three months ago. everything was fine.... the computer and camera were talking, then one day i get error message saying that no device is connected. it connects and shows the camera and then five minutes later, the connection dissapears. so i quit for a couple weeks out of frustration and buy another fire wire. after replacing the fire wire i am able to connect again with no problems. that lasts for a couple weeks and just recently i'm back to the same problems. it seems to coincide with my installing updates. any help will be greatly appreciated.     - capture problem I just got a new JVC digital camcorder and when I try to capture video with Movie maker, i get an error message that says something along the lines of "too many interfaces..to fire" or something like that, and I am unable to capture video directly from the camera. I am using USB connection since I don't have a Firewire option, yet. I can capture the video using the Imagemixer software that came with the camer, but it is not real convient to use for editing, in my opinion. I would like to be able to skip that step and just capture straight to MS Movie Maker rather than to imagemixer then transfer to movie maker. Any suggestions?     - Capturing video I have a brand new Panasonic PV-GS12 digital video camera. I can't figure out how to capture from it to my (likewise brand new) Dell Dimension 4700 with Windows XP Professional and Windows Movie Maker on it.     - Video saves as .AVI in 99% of the elapsed storyboard time I have created a movie with MSWMM 5.1 on a Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz with an essentially empty hard drive and 2 GB or RAM. I have been saving as DV/AVI (NTSC). I had the problem of audio skips, so I saved the Audio/Music track separately as a .WAV file, and then saved the Video/Transition/Title Overlay tracks separately (for eventual merger). The Audio/Music track saved on the exact same timeline as in MSWMM, to the second. The video tracks save to a file that is only 99% as long as the storyboard in MSWMM (i.e. in MSWMM the video was 30:07 min on the storyboard, but the resultant .AVI file is only 29:48 min, or 99% of the original timeline). It is therefore impossible to subsequently synch the audio and video. I'm at a loss, please help. I think this may be what is causing the audio skips people have been complaining about.     - no audio using dvc-80 ive been using a dvc-80 to capture video and audio from a sony hi-8 video camera. Using windows movie maker 1, i was able to successfully get the video and audio to playback but now when i import the video, i get no audio when i playback in any form(playing clip in windows media player). I was wondering if i was using the wrong input device. My options are soundmax digital audio(figuring my sound card), dvc 80 16k 16 bt audio(2), Dazzle dvc 80 audio(2), modem #2 line record.     - Picture size in Windows Movie Maker I have put all my pictues in and burned to a DVD disc. Problem is some of my pictures are to large for the frame. I have tried resizing them to make smaller but this did not help. I see on the storybook mode the pictures are a little oversized but how do I get them in the frame so they fit correctly?     - How do I get sound? First attempt at using Movie Maker. I can import the video from my camcorder but not the sound. Reading the info on sounds says you can do this only with an ANALOG camera. After I updgraded to SP2, I've had problems trying to import a video.
Regardless of the video type, when I select a video the app throws a Run
Time error then closes.
Anyone have any ideas why or how to fix?
