In a previous post I asked for help with my MM and DVD converter... now
everythings freezing. Even Internet Explorer just froze. I have done
everything I know to try and I am about to re-install my OS out of sheer
frustration. Does anyone think that would help?

I'd start with the basics. Download spybot and adaware from another
computer to a jump drive and run it on this machine. Also scan for
viruses. Try that and report back.

At the cost of sounding totally dumb, what is a jump drive?

Thank you. Now I know what a jump drive is... but I don't have one (obviously
because I didn't even know what it was) I ran a virus scan and it said I
don't have any. I did find the file that was named in the error report for
both Movie Maker and decoder (wmvdmoe2.dll) but have no idea what it is or
what it does.

I don't know what it is either but it's listed in
the following article:

(891122) Update for Windows Media
Digital Rights Management-enabled players
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891122

And searching Google Groups for the .dll
turns up lots of messages...maybe if you go
through them you can find something useful:

wmvdmoe2.dll

Well, my computer crashed. I went ahead and reformatted and updated all back
to SP2... same thing. So I rolled back to pre-SP2, the converter still won't
work, same damn file named... (wmvdmoe2.dll) and I thought I'd try the movie
maker before I reinstalled SP2. The version (1.1.2427.0) was almost exactly
like my original movie maker 1 on WindowsMe. Threw some clips and an audio
file on it... it saved it perfectly the first time, 768 kbps in a little over
1 minute. Movie Maker 2.1 when it was working fine would have taken 15-20
minutes to save it. Now I am Totally In The Dark!

Also, it made clips automatically when I imported the file into movie maker
which the 2.1 version would not do.
