As you indicated, changing the name of .ivaudio does indeed stop the audio
problem from occurring in Storyboard. However, at a price. The video, while
playing right through, jerks or shudders a bit while doing so, and the sound
plays through too but is of only average quality. In short, a clip played in
Storyboard isn't a patch on a clip play in Collections. Something in MM2 is
still trying to mess with the .avi file.

So, I give up! ;-)

Can I revert back to MM1? If so, how do I do this? If I have to use the XP
Pro roll back feature, will any software that I have installed since MM2 -
quite a bit - be removed also? I would be very grateful if you could advise
me on this.

I have to say that this whole experience has been, far and away, my worst
with any Microsoft product. Not good at all.

I've been having the same problem that you've had... and I had been working with MM1! So good luck with down-grading back to it

The same audio problem has also been going on with the VideoImpression software that came with my Canon A70, too

You can't totally remove Movie Maker, but you can revert to version 1. See

MLO,

Does your Canon A70 generate .avi files too?

Thanks.

Yes, it does generate .avi files. I've been going through the postings, and I've finally found that renaming the iviaudio and ivivideo files in the WinDVD program works to bring back normal audio. There is a little bit of skittering of the video like you wrote about before, but it's good enough for me right now. Good luck.
