    - Missing Effects and Transitions from DME Hi, I just installed MS Plus Digital Media Edition along with Windows Movie Maker 2.0. Everything seems to work fine except that I do not any of the Transitions and Effects in the movie maker which came with DME. I only see the standard ones. I checked the installation of DME and it seems fine. The DLL and XML files get copied into the AddOnTFX folder. Could someone please shed some light about how do I fix this issue? Thank you.     - Can't convert or import MPEG 2 movies for compression Hi, I am using Win Xp movie maker 2 to import mpeg files recorded by my TV tuner card(winfast TV 200 expert). But when I do import them, it is broken into many segments. to approximately 500 segments!!. IS it due to the lack of free space in my computer system drive or is it the format that winfast is saving not being compatible? At the moment I have tried MPEG 1 and 2 with Mp 3 audio. I didn't try windows media wave file as they can gobble up a lot of drive space! Any suggestions on how to fix this, or any other freebie program that can help me to shrink these mpeg file.     - program closes! I installed Movie Maker 2. Every time I try to add an effect or transition - the program simply closes... when I try to fade a clip into another clip (like you could in version 1 by dragging one clip over the other a little bit) the program also closes! now I cannot do anything anymore! there is no uninstall and MM1 does not seem to be available anymore... I looked on my Windows XP CD Rom to see if I could do a repair and get MM1 back - but I can't seem to do that either! Does anybody know how I can fix MM2? My computer is a brand new Toshiba Satellite Multimedia Laptop and has the best of everything available so I don't think it is a hardware issue... anyway - MM1 worked like a charm.     - Movie Maker------- audio on capture I have Windows XP with Movie Maker2.I installed a 1394 capture card.I have a Sony DCR/TRV17 didital video Camera.My camera settings are as stated in the op manual. When I attempt a capture from my camera the video is Ok.I get a sound track and very faint audio,with all volumes at hi. With volumes so hi the little sound i receive is distorted.     - mmi and upgrade MMII problems Hi: I have WIn XP and MM I. I feel very stupid unable to upgrade my MMI to MMII. I downloaded the MM2 today and full fin paks. But I 'm not able to open MM2 properly. Can someone tell me why? I download the MM@ because my MMI has been giving me problems capturing video from my Sony Camcorder and the problems are very inconsistent some catures were perfect and some capturs , fromthe same 8MM tape, were either 1) in green and purple color totally distorted 2) picture frame is skewed on both sides.     - Audio skips on frame transitions Hi I've just had a go at creating my first movie with MM2. I was a bit disappointed that the audio seemed to skip very noticeably on transitions between frames. Referring to PapaJohn's Web site I found a link to the following KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;812610 (Audio File Sound Skips During Image Transitions) which says that low quality MP3s will tend to cause this. However, I used a low quality MP3 on the first half of the video and that rendered perfectly. I used a high quality WMA file on the second half of the video and that's where the problems occurred! I would like to rule out computer performance issues as I've just got a new PC with a P4 2.8 HT processor, 512MB RAM and all the other whistles and bells that you'd expect with a new PC. I will have a go at re-rendering the project to see if I get the same results, but in the mean time if anybody else has experienced this and can suggest if I may be doing something wrong then I'd be happy to hear from you.     - cannot send back to dv device I have successfully captured and edited a video clip from my canon elura 40 dv camera and now I am trying to send it back onto the camera to save onto the dv tape. When I choose send to dv device the dialog box opens and all proceeds except that when the recording onto the camera begins the video is fragmented and unviewable. The recording finishes and states that the video has been successfully recorded. I have tried changing the video length to see if a shorter clip is successful but I have the same problem. Any ideas?     - Reliable way to crash MovieMaker II I don't know if MicroSoft picks up on this thread, however, I've found a way to consistently cause MM2 to crash. I can reproduce this problem 100% of the time. Here's how: Open MovieMaker and select Capture from video device. When the wizard opens, select "Composite". Select "Configure", then "Video Settings". If you select anything other than the default 320x240 output size, MM2 will crash - but not yet. Click "Next" three times to get to the "Capture Video" screen. Select option "1" to begin capture. Program will not crash here, however there's a subtle sign that a crash is immenent. Observe the "Size of Video" field on the screen. If it never increments beyond 3kb, then guaranteed, when you "Stop capture" and click "Finish", program will crash and all of your work goes bye-bye.     - Saving to DV tape goes blank at end of movie Does anyone know why my movie loses part of a clip right near the end before the credits and just shows a black screen but with the MP3 music still playing? Only happens to tape and Ive tried it 3 times with 2 tapes same result. Movie is 22 minutes long, I've made 2 shorter ones with no problems but even if I delete the last scene and replace it it still cuts out and I dont get to see the end or credits, saving the movie to a 250mb .wmv file worked fine.     - Can Not Capture Video Hi, I have a Pentium III 866 with 256mg ram and I'm running WINDOWS XP. My video card is a ASUS AGP-T7100 DELUXE COMBO. I've downloaded all the recent drivers including ASUS VIDEO CAPTURE DRIVER, DIRECTX9 and the latest WINDOWS MEDIA ENCODER (not sure which version but I think it's V9). When I try to capture a video in MOVIE MAKER from my SONY CAMCORDER TRV340, I can hear the audio but there is no video only a black screen. I've made sure that I have the right inputs selected (S-Video) but still a no picture. If anyone could please help me with this I would really appreciate it.     - Sony TRV22 Save to DV doesn't work. Using a Sony TRV-22 and can get movies from the cam to Movie Maker 2. Sound is ok, picture is ok but I can't save it back to DV. Amazingly the Movie Maker goes through all the steps, preparing, starting the recording on the camera but I can't see anything else than the blue screen so it records a long blank sequence. When it reaches 100% it never turns off the recording on the camera. Running XP Prof with all the latest SP, updates, drivers whatever..etc.etc. Any ideas?     - movie maker hangs MM keeps hanging & running slow. When it does go OK, when I save as a movie file, the audio runs OK but the picture hangs & will not move on. I am using a mix of stills & video. It will record as a movie file, 90%, then hang on the jpeg picture while the audio continues to ad vance.     - Rewinding Video Hey everyone (and PJ), I was wondering if it's possible to import a video and than add an effect in the vein of rewinding it. For example, if I wanted to show someone flying I would record them jumping from a high place and then when the video is rewound, it would look like they're jumping up. Is there anyway to do a kind of rewind like this in Movie Maker? The only practical way I can think of is to play it being rewound on a tv then record it with another video camera and then import it into mm2. Thanks.     - OT WIN98se convert MPG to streaming? format I have a digital movie camera that came with software that converts the movies to MPG format. When I post the MPG on the web, it apparently has to completely download before playing. Is there another format that automatically streams? Would it make smaller files too, or would that not be required since it starts after buffering while continuing to dl in the background? I'm on win98se for another month or two.     - moviemaker2 I use windows xp pro and moviemaker 2. After importing my pictures and making an auto movie, I am unable to save it to my hard drive or cd. I use a sony DRU 510A dvd/cd burner. I get the following message; ensure source file is available (they are), your hard drive has space (I use a 40 Gb(C drive) and 120 GB (G,F partitioned hard drive), and ensure that the saving location is available.     - Can't capture video Hi, I have a Pentium III 866 with 256mg ram and I'm running WINDOWS XP. My video card is a ASUS AGP-T7100 DELUXE COMBO. I've downloaded all the recent drivers including ASUS VIDEO CAPTURE DRIVER, DIRECTX9 and the latest WINDOWS MEDIA ENCODER (not sure which version but I think it's V9). When I try to capture a video in MOVIE MAKER from my SONY CAMCORDER TRV340, I can hear the audio but there is no video only a black screen.     - Problems downloading video to ext.HD I have no problems saving dv-avi. to the internal 30 Gig HD. but I have no space to work. I purchased a Buslink 80G.7200rpm 1394 and USB-2 to save and edit bulk video from. I want to make a one step process. Both drives are ntfs, and DMA on. When I attempt to save video to the EXT Buslink it is dropping about 1/3 of the content. I tried to download MM 2 directly on the Ext. Buslink but it will only link to it from its internal HD location. I cannot find a way to remove MM 2 or MY VIDEOS from the internal drive and then load it on the External Buslink as suggested in the Papa John information. The frame dropping is the same with AVI or WMV. The notebook is P-4 1.7 512 30Ga and a PCMCIA Belkin 3 port firewire card. The setup is Sony DV-22 firewire to Belkin card then the Buslink provided firewire cable to the Buslink. Note. I am able to save from DV to internal HD and then copy to Ext HD without problem. HELP!! I have spend days on this and am hoping to achieve the optimum setup of bypassing the C drive CPU!! For clarity I have pasted the info on external HD below from PapaJohns site. I am trying to store my video projects there to avoid overloading my C drive. I save them under the E drive, but when I go back to work on them and retrieve them they are back under "my videos" on the C drive. I have tried moving "my videos" to E drive and have even deleted it and all its contents on C, but it keeps coming back. How can I store my projects on the new drive and can Movie Maker be moved to the new drive also? > There are few things to do. Also you can improve the performance. First, if your additional hard drive is faster, you should use this hard drive as a source. How you can do it. When you select record the movie button, you can press the top choice button and select the other hard drive. You should open a new file in that drive, and name it so you can find it easly. If the external hard drive is USB 2.0 or fire wire connection, transfer rate is about 410-480 mbps. You should install the MM2 on that hard drive. How you can do it - first uninstall from slow C hard drive, than install again. This time don't accept the default choice of the program, hit the browse button and search for external drive and install on it. This will relieve the first C drive from additional work, things will be faster and smoother. But evertime you use the MM2 your external hard drive should be connected.     - Codecs for MM2 Hey everyone- I haven't had much luck gettin my other questions answered, maybe this will have some luck. I noticed that when I import MPEG's that I have captured, I get a lot of stuttering in the flow (even after creating a movie file). Howeve if I first convert the MPEG's to .wma files, then everything seems to be smooth. I suspect that the MM2 isn't recognizing the codec's used by my Instant DVD 2.0 USB capture device. Is ther any way to ensure that the codecs used by MM2 are the same as those used by MM2? I have updated all drivers, etc. and even downloaded extra codecs for Windows Media Player- but this hasn't helped. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone!     - MM2 terminates, when trying to use 'Titels and Credits' I recently installed, together with SP1 and assorted goodies, WMP 9 and Moviemaker II. I can not use the 'Open File' function in WMP9, as it sits there for about 1 second, after which WMP terminates completely, without error-message. I can 'drag and drop' without problem from a separatedly opened Explorer-screen. In Moviemaker II I can not use the 'Titles and Credits' Tool. As soon as I choose an option within the Titels menu, MM2 terminates, once again without error-message. Are these 2 problems related, and does anybody know of a fix.     - deleting dead MM2 files Hope someone will be able to help. I was tranfering a movie to my DV camera and had to abort the whole thing...Which made me lose 10GB just like that. Obviously the computer had started to save some files somewhere but I cannot find where. It's not in the regular "temp" folder... How can I get my 10GB back? Should I kill this?

Prepared a simple video by dropping 20 funny avi clips
(of different sizes and shapes) into the timeline, and
adding a crossfade between each. 55 minutes total. I
then "Send to DV Camera". Three hours into the process on
my 2GHz Dimension 8400, I am at 2% with over 6,000
minutes remaining. (The latter number is constantly
increasing.) Is this dead, or should I let it run some
more?
