    - want to capture, but getting "class not registered" hi all, i'm trying to capture a movie. system: windows xp home edition video camcorder: sony dcr trv-33 i'm trying to capure a video using the video capture wizard. when i'm in the "video settings", and clicking "next" (no matter what settings i'm choosing) i'm getting an error box saying: "class not registered". when clicking "ok" to close that error box, and trying again to click on "next", i'm getting "unspecified error". now, i've read all the threads here in the newsgroup about other people getting the "class not registered", and tried to run the: regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qdv.dll that someone here mentioned ("rehan"?) but it didn't help. so.....what's next? thank you very much Tag: Sound but no Video Tag: 66230

    - Sound but no video I have home movies saved in my computer that I downloaded from my Sony Handy cam DCR-SR40. When I import them into Movie Maker for my folder they import fine and they show up fine in my collections area.     - New to WMM I just discovered WMM (don't laugh - I've got 3 kids under age 4) and want to make movies from my still digital photos. I've managed to figure that much out, but I don't know how to save the movie so that I can give the disc to family members w/o computers to watch like a DVD. Can this be done?     - .wmv file HUGE! I just tried the program this week - ALL week - simple, I thought. Take all the pics from the big party, add music and send it to everybody who was here and family who couldn't make it... not. the finished file was nearly 5 mg, but when I saved it as a movie, it ballooned to 15 mg! I tried converting it to avi. then it was 25 mg. Who knew? obviously not I. I can't email it, can't even put it on photobucket - it stops at 61%. i am at a loss with this. Do you think it would decrease the file size if I took the individual photos into Photoshop and reduced them? I considered that, but the 4mg is way smaller than the combined total of the pics, so I assumed the program compressed it already.. AARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can anyone help me? thanks in advance!     - Edit already done movies Hello people. Today is my first day playing with WMM. i like it a lot and get well with the application. Now I've got a question. I 've got a file i want to edit, specifically want to delete a video effect done with letters. the only way i see to do this, is to edit the movie, clip by clip and modify the 25 clips involved in the video effect. that's a lot to do considering that I plan to edit every clip in Paint. and bring it back to the movie. Sorry for being so newcomer. Any ideas how to do this as proffessional as possible.     - Photo Slideshow with Movie Maker I am making a photo slideshow in Moviemaker. For some reason when I preview the slideshow the photo only stays up for 1 second, even though my default is set for 5 seconds.     - burning to a dvd I have been trying for weeks and keep coming up with a BLURRY DVD. When I run the movie as a project - it looks GREAT. I want to loop it and also would LOVE to put it on our big screen tv. When I save the project as a movie - the only way that movie MAKER doesnt FREEZE - is wheN I save it as an email attachment and they save save on my computer from that wizard. they I burn it using many different extensions bought aconverter software- ect. but sill all ways are blurry. When I run the wizard to go to a DVD or to directly save on my computer the software FREEZES up - It is 22 minutes with all still photos and a transition between each one.     - Audio is coming through Mono Only I'm currently trying to create a video using both an avi (video only) and an mp3 sound file. I put them on the story board together and every time i save the file it outputs the audio to only my right speaker.     - Movie maker / DVD maker I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium with upgrade Ultimate. I make a film under WMM and wish to burn it at a DVD. WMM says to save the file, close the program and start DVD Maker. WDVD maker starts and load the file (extension xxx.mswmm).     - Need method to edit an .mpg file Gurus, Running Windows Media Player 10 on Windows XP Pro SP2. I have a four-hour .mpg of which there is action in the first 30 minutes and no action at all for the last 3.5 hours. The last 3.5 hours is just a scene in which nothing is happening at all.     - burned dvd doesn't play smoothly I used Windows Movie Maker to create a video. It looked and played perfectly on the computer screen. When I burned it to a DVD-RW the video played fine, but the audio skipped and cut in and out. I tried burning it at "slow" speed instead of "fastest", and that seemed to help for the first 3-5 minutes of the video, but then the skipping returned at the end.     - Video problems I am making a video on mircosoft movie maker and my imported video clips don't show up as video, only audio. The videos play, but the screen is black and only the sound can be heard. When I try and add it to the storyline, it adds in the audio section.     - Pixelan SpiceFX 4.0 for Movie Maker PIxelan SpiceFX 4.0 for Movie Maker was released today http://www.pixelan.com/mm/intro.htm I've been checking it for the past two weeks, and it's the first time I've been able to do pans and zooms of super high quality still pix even better than I can do with Photo Story 3. Here's a link to some of my test clips at vimeo... all the pans and zooms were done in MM2.1 or MM6 with this new tool. One of my source pictures is a panorama of the Jungfreau in Switserland, a JPG image of 14,525 x 2,476 pixels.... the width is more than twice the 7,200 pixel limit of Photo Story 3, yet the panning/zooming was easily done in Movie Maker 2.1.     - blurry on burned DVD but Fine in MovieMaker I seem to have the opposite problem usually posted. My slideshow - video in MovieMaker works great in Movie Maker -saved as a video. with the .wmv extension. When I tried to burn it onto a DVD it can't or wont do it. So I downloaded a trial conversion software AVS Video Converter (have to purchase it or get the logo throughout movie- any other ones you suggest that are GOOD- Free and won't download a bunch of JUNK. I ask it to convert it to a DVD file - there were other choices like MP3, Mpeg, AVI - I will do any file type - just want to know which one won't be blurry that I CAN Burn onto My DVD blank Discs and PLAY on our TV.     - Jpeg format - help! I am also getting the error message about source files. I have windows XP, there is plenty of space on the drive. I have also "x"d out the boxes under "tools - options". My story board consists of 100-200 jpeg pictures that I have edited in "Photoexpressions" with titles and captions. I have transitions on each frame.     - 10 second file becomes 9 seconds when saved I'm new to MM, but have used Adobe After Effects for a few years, so I thought that it would be pretty simple to do some basic things with MM. Using MM Version 2.1.4026.0 on XP Pro. I have some uncompressed AVIs (video only) that I wanted to convert to WMV, open in MM, overlay titles and export. These are 10 seconds, 30 Frames Per Second looping AVIs, so getting the right length in and out is important for the loop. I converted from AVI using River Past Video Cleaner, Quality Based settings - quality set at 90. When I opened the 10 second WMV files in MM, overlay titles and save them as WMV, they export at 9 seconds long. Tried lots of files... So I tried just saving without titles and got the same result. Now in the MM preview window before saving, the duration of the WMV I brought in shows 9:93 (not like ANY time code I've ever seen before), but not a second short either. I opened the very same original WMV file in After Effects and it is - as expected 10 sec duration. Open the new saved WMV version (from MM) and it is 9 seconds. Trying to isolate the problem, I took the original AVIs into MM and saved them as AVI to see if the length stayed the same. The AVI saved from MM became 9:28. While the original is 10 seconds in duration. Still not correct, but .02 sec. off is not as bad as an entire second missing in the WMVs. I used G-spot to look at how the WMVs were being made. It tells me that the codec is WMV3 - WMP v9 (VC-1 Simple/Main) and the file type is ASF (WMA/WMV); Mime Type video/x-ms-asf. I am just baffled. I was testing this method as an easy way to put titles over a file in WMV format. After hours of researching, testing, reading everything I can find about the process - I'm not so sure that it is simple. I've been to the MVP sites, tried to educate myself on WMV and MM, but I'm getting nowhere! Please tell me that I am missing something obvious. I just can't believe that opening and saving a file would change its length. I would really appreciate some input, because this is one newbie that may never get beyond the beginner stage if I can't solve this problem. Thank you very much for your help.     - Editing Vista Movie Maker project files with XP movie maker I am currently having troubles contuing to edit my movie maker project on my xp machine at work after I have worked and edited them on my Vista machine at home. I have version 6.0 at home on a Vista O.S. and a 5.1 on the XP machine at work. I can open the project i worked on in XP with the vista version but not visa versa. Very similar to how office 2007 works.     - How To Trim Popup List for "Menu Background" Options in Nero 6? I've been using Moviemaker and Nero 6 for a couple of years. When authoring a DVD in Nero, one of the options when creating the menu is "background". This gives you a visual choice of a plain background, a still picture, or a video, and also a choice to have an audio file play in the background while the menu is displayed. Every time I browse for and choose a new background selection while authoring a DVD, it gets added to a popup list that is stored somewhere and presented the next time I use Nero. After two years, this popup list is many pages long, and 80% of the files don't even exist on my computer any more. There does not seem to be any option for deleting items from this popup list. How do I remove old choices from the list?     - Aspect ratio problems I am using Windows Media Encoder to capture presentations and program demonstrations with accompanying narration in a Dell notebook running at 1440 x 900. That's working great, except that I want to trim the videos to get rid of the section at the beginning where I turn encoding on and the section at the end where I want to turn encoding off. The files are reasonable size, the quality is excellent, and they seem to play fine on computers with other resolutions so I don't really want to tamper with them much. I've tried using Windows Media File Editor but there doesn't seem to be a way to move through the file one frame at a time to get the perfect trim spots so I decided to try Movie Maker. I have read PapaJohn's excellent article on custom profiles and have used several but I am having awful problems with the screen resolution. ------------ In the original unedited video, the recorded screen measures 7.25" wide x 5.5" tall, which is 4:3. When I try a custom profile set to 1440 x 900 (my computer's native resolution), the resulting recorded screen measures 6 x 5.5 if I use the 4:3 aspect ratio and 7.75 x 5.375 if I use the 16:9 aspect ratio. IOW, the resulting image is nearly square or way too wide, not the 4:3 that the original video is. I even tried a custom profile with the video size set to same as video input, but that profile doesn't show up in the list of Other settings (as PapaJohn's article says will happen). How do I use Movie Maker to do nothing more than trim my video without changing the file size (other than making it smaller because pieces will be edited out) and especially without changing the recorded screen size? I really appreciate any and all suggestions and help. I will be recording my lectures in a statistical programming class this summer and would like to be able to do basic editing to the files without making too many changes to the original recorded video. Typically...wmv files should work correctly
in Movie Maker. I wonder if it would help
if you go to...Tools / Options / Compatibility
tab...and uncheck all the Filters.
