Hi, I'm brand new to WMM, got version 2 yesterday. I have some footage on DV
tape and when I drag it onto the timeline it plays OK, but WITHOUT audio.
The sample file that came with WMM2 works fine. What have I not done.
All help always appreciated

How did you capture the footage from the dv tape?

It sounds like you didn't capture any audio; a common
problem with new users. S-Video and Composite settings
require a separate audio connection as they use your sound
card to record the audio.
Unless I'm all wet, the MM2 doc will explain it pretty
well for you. Usually, not always, BOTH a video and an
audio cable are required. They're separate data streams.

Thanks for the help so far. The camcorder is a JVC GR-D70AA. only a month
old, so I would expect it to be latest technology. I connect it to the USB 1
or 2 port of the PC via a cable (provided) from a socket on the camcorder
called "USB". Underneath this socket is another called "DV", but no cable
was provided for this. Could this be the solution? I can't see any separate
socket on the camera for audio. You say the MM2 doc will explain it ... do
you mean the help files?

Yes, use the dv connection. You will need a firewire/ieee1394 connection on
the pc as well. No cam manufacturer supplies a firewire cable.....but it's
the only real way of transferring video, you'll find it much easier.
Depending on the port on the pc you'll need to buy a 4 - 4 pin lead or a 6 -
4 pin lead. If you want to know what the ports lok like then do a google
image search for firewire and you'll get lots of pictures to help you
identify it.
