Any one have experience with this camera using it as a video capture source?
I swear I had it working at one time, quite some time ago, but now
MovieMaker says there is no device connected.

I have gone round and round on this and am now at my wits end. Any help here
woould be most appreciated.

More info:: I am using a 4 to 4 pin FireWire cable to connect to a fully
patched XP Home machine.

The problem as described to me is this; Sony firmware was not quite u
to snuff with the Firewire1394 standard, but worked with SP1 becaus
the OS drivers in SP1 for Firewire were loosley written also. Alon
came SP2 which is supposed to adhere tighter to the 1394 standards
(this includes pci Firewire cards and onboard Firewire.
So the story goes; Sony blames Microsoft, Microsoft blames Sony, an
you end user, are the victim.
Firewire Standards were first started in 1986;
'Firewire Standards started in 1986
(http://standards.ieee.org/micro/1394overview.html)
It just seems uncanny to me that in 19 years of development, no one ca
get it right yet.
As for your solution; one is to roll back to SP1 drivers.
Best,
Treema
