Just stumbled across a new publication in WH Smiths (UK).

Digital Video for beginners Volume One. £12.99 - magazine format, hence
found in magazine section, but actually a book with no advertising, hence
hefty price!

It has some articles featuring MM2, especially in the 'getting started'
section, but shed-loads of info about DV in general, including info on
equipment, planning, framing shots, hints, tips, tricks, audio, pro-tips,
effects...

Great for newbies like me. CD enclosed, which I have yet to browse.

Having read some of it I now have to convince my other half than a
Sennheiser external mic is a worthwhile investment!

Hi John

Just checked, and it says that it includes some royalty-free music and sound
FX.

On closer inspection it contains:
Folder: Music - 2 x tracks - 'dance03' and 'forever' - both 128Kbps mp3
Folder: Musicsfx - 12 musical noises, 128Kbps mp3
Folder: Othersfx - 30 FX, 128Kbps mp3
Folder: Realsfx - 23 FX, 128Kbps mp3

Pretty limited IMHO, although the 'zither.mp3' track reminds me of Bagpuss,
so has nostalgia value!!

Other than that, it includes a couple of demo packages (Pinnacle Studio 8
and Ulead Video Studio 7), video tutorials for the above and some video
samples, presumably for those who've bought the book but don't have any
footage of their own to play with...

I didn't buy it for the CD - a quick look at the above should confirm that!

Regards

Jake
