I have created a personal profile so that I could save a movie out in unique
dimensions. When I save the movie, I am able to find the profile and
everything goes well saving the file. When I play the movie though, the size
of the movie is still in 4:3 ratio or something.

My original movie is 356x338 and I want my windows movie to be in those
dimensions. When I play the movie though (after using the personal profile
with those dimensions) it is displaying at 1.34:1 ratio instead of the 1.05:1
ratio - this is seen in the properties dialog in windows media player.

Am I doing anything wrong? Is the problem only in the player?
How can I get it to view correctly?

Thanks! Chris

Hi Chris,

Check the info on the Saving Movies > Custom WMV Profiles of my site.

It's a player issue.... to see it how you sized it, you need to embed it in
a web page or use an older version of the player. The current player checks
a tag in the movie, which can only be 4:3 or 16:9 and bases it's playback
view on that rather than the pixel dimensions.

Hi PapaJohn,

Thanks. I guess my followup questions would be, can the windows player show
movies any differently? I will be putting these movies into power point
(where I believe I'll be able to specify their ratio) but it would be nice to
play them in the player as they are supposed to be played. Thanks for the
info!

Chris

No... not in the Windows Media Player... use IrfanView's multimedia player
and they work fine.
