I have a couple of questions:
1) when i put in a cd and try to burn it, the program
closes with an error. any idea why?
1) can you save movie maker movies to DVD or just CD?
2) is there any way to convert them to mpg files? it would
make life a whole lot easier!

Thanks

Amazing, but Movie Maker does't support burning to DVD. There is an article
on the site saying to save Movie (file menu) as a DVI-AV and then use your
dvd burning software to burn the saved .avi file. I tried it with Sony's
CLICK TO DVD but only to find, this after some 3 days of solid working on the
project, that Sony doesn't support DVI-AV. I'm kind of sick of getting
software that doesn't 'finish' the job the way you like.

As to CD problem -- I had the same but because I didn't set the drive to the
one where I had enough space to put the file before it goes to CD. Then when
it went to copy to CD, only to find the file was too large. You can't really
fit much video on a CD -- so why have an outdated program in Windows XP? Duh!

Lydia,

According to VAIOs website Click to DVD supports DV AVI:

thanks. I didn't see this; I went through their 'troubleshooting' and it
came up with the message that it was NOT supported. Very strange. I'll
check with Sony why I got everything BUT the sound -- the video portion was
fine so maybe that's what they're referring to -- you can transfer the
picture but not the sound.

BTW Sony replied that it's Microsoft's fault because they use a different
encoding; and no they don't support DV-AVI....yet I was able to open the
Moviemaker file in other application. So I'm still stuck. Have to buy
another software to do this.

Before you make a purchase you can try converting the DV AVI produced by
Movie Maker to the other type using Canopus Converter:
