    - Which quality to pick "Capture wizard" burn to DVD, quality looks I have a canon zr800 minidv. I am using xp movie maker to capture the video to computer an then would like to burn to dvd (on occasion would like to edit first). My question is, when the Video capture wizard pops up, I am not sure wich quality to select (dv-avi, high quality ntsc, video for Lan 1.0 Mpbps, etc). I tested several of the different options and the only formats I end up with is avi or wmv format. The video colour and quality does not look that great. Which format do I need, with the goal of eventually getting that video burn on a dvd? Do I need a different software and is there a free one that you can recommend? thanks.     - Video but No Audio I know this subject has been discussed here before, but I'm totally new to Movie Maker and to my Sony camcorder with hard drive, so I'd appreciate if one of you knowledgeable guys out there helped me. I imported the MPG file into the Movie Maker, however, while playing clip, the audio is not playing.     - Movie maker is not connecting to my capture device When i plug in my dazzle capture card i open up movier maker and click on capture from video device. Then a message appears saying "The device is not responding. Close any other application that is using the device and try capturing again."     - not getting full movie in playback after saving Hello, I've tried saving this movie about 5 different times and everytime i play it back there is something different wrong. At first one of the transitions was messed up but now the last 5 minutes of pictures won't play, but the music plays out. This is a combo of pics (jpegs) and music. I'm going to "Save as Movie" and saving it to an external hardrive with plenty of space on it. I'm not getting any error messages. It take about 30 minutes to actually save it and it automatically plays when it's done. What am I doing wrong? Why is it not completely saving and not giving me an error message?? Please help!!!     - File size issue Hi all, I have created a few videos and Im having a problem with the size of them. I'm on a fairly old machine (13gb) using XP. I originally had a huge problem with frame dropping but overcame that by using another program to capture the footage from my camera and then importing it into moviemaker to fiddle with it. Now each file 8 minute piece is over 1gb (in .avi format) - lol .. its putting a strain on my hard drive. I want to decrease the size of each file. Please tell me how to do it - also please tell me whether I would be better off to convert the files to .wmv - or please tell me am I looking at the wrong program altogether.     - I have never been so lost! WMM2.1 Hey! So i had never used windows movie maker or anything before, and i opened it and got the hang of it, i made a movie for my american class! However when i tried to get it onto a dvd i had no idea what to do! I saw all of the save to email/web/cd things on the side and i tried all of them none of them work even if I wanted them to. i keep getting: "windows movie maker cannot save the movie to the specific location. verify that the original source file used in you movie are still available. that saying the location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available. and then try again" My movie is about seven minutes long and includes both pictures and video clips.     - Translating MOV Files To Something WMM Will Support I have an Olympus Stylus Verve digital camera with video capture abilities. It uploads nicely to my computer, and plays in quicktime and can upload to youtube fine. The only problem I have is that there is no way for me to edit it. WMM won't accept the type of file it is. I think it's a MOV file. Does anyone know how to translate the file so WMM will let me edit it and stuff?     - JPEG Resolution from PPT to MM I've seen the question, but no answer yet on this. I managed to create a moviemaker that solved my music syncing problem with my Powerpoint file, but the resolution of the finished jpegs is AWFUL -- blurry, pink hues on them.     - Captured video being broken into small clips Hi.... I'm running MM 2.1 on XP and capturing video from a Sony HandyCam The video is all captured but gets automatically broken up into clips. e.g....I'm capturing a 25 second (approx) segment of video.     - Sound but no video I have home movies saved in my computer that I downloaded from my Sony Handy cam DCR-SR40. When I import them into Movie Maker for my folder they import fine and they show up fine in my collections area.     - New to WMM I just discovered WMM (don't laugh - I've got 3 kids under age 4) and want to make movies from my still digital photos.     - .wmv file HUGE! I just tried the program this week - ALL week - simple, I thought. Take all the pics from the big party, add music and send it to everybody who was here and family who couldn't make it... not. the finished file was nearly 5 mg, but when I saved it as a movie, it ballooned to 15 mg! I tried converting it to avi. then it was 25 mg. Who knew? obviously not I. I can't email it, can't even put it on photobucket - it stops at 61%. i am at a loss with this. Do you think it would decrease the file size if I took the individual photos into Photoshop and reduced them?     - Edit already done movies Hello people. Today is my first day playing with WMM. i like it a lot and get well with the application. Now I've got a question. I 've got a file i want to edit, specifically want to delete a video effect done with letters. the only way i see to do this, is to edit the movie, clip by clip and modify the 25 clips involved in the video effect. that's a lot to do considering that I plan to edit every clip in Paint. and bring it back to the movie.     - burning to a dvd I have been trying for weeks and keep coming up with a BLURRY DVD. When I run the movie as a project - it looks GREAT. I want to loop it and also would LOVE to put it on our big screen tv. When I save the project as a movie - the only way that movie MAKER doesnt FREEZE - is wheN I save it as an email attachment and they save save on my computer from that wizard. they I burn it using many different extensions bought aconverter software- ect. but sill all ways are blurry. When I run the wizard to go to a DVD or to directly save on my computer the software FREEZES up - It is 22 minutes with all still photos and a transition between each one.     - Audio is coming through Mono Only I'm currently trying to create a video using both an avi (video only) and an mp3 sound file. I put them on the story board together and every time i save the file it outputs the audio to only my right speaker. WMM says to save the file, close the program and start DVD Maker. WDVD maker starts and load the file (extension xxx.mswmm).     - Need method to edit an .mpg file Gurus, Running Windows Media Player 10 on Windows XP Pro SP2. I have a four-hour .mpg of which there is action in the first 30 minutes and no action at all for the last 3.5 hours. The last 3.5 hours is just a scene in which nothing is happening at all.     - burned dvd doesn't play smoothly I used Windows Movie Maker to create a video. It looked and played perfectly on the computer screen. When I burned it to a DVD-RW the video played fine, but the audio skipped and cut in and out. I tried burning it at "slow" speed instead of "fastest", and that seemed to help for the first 3-5 minutes of the video, but then the skipping returned at the end.     - Video problems I am making a video on mircosoft movie maker and my imported video clips don't show up as video, only audio. The videos play, but the screen is black and only the sound can be heard. When I try and add it to the storyline, it adds in the audio section.     - Pixelan SpiceFX 4.0 for Movie Maker PIxelan SpiceFX 4.0 for Movie Maker was released today http://www.pixelan.com/mm/intro.htm I've been checking it for the past two weeks, and it's the first time I've been able to do pans and zooms of super high quality still pix even better than I can do with Photo Story 3. Here's a link to some of my test clips at vimeo... all the pans and zooms were done in MM2.1 or MM6 with this new tool. One of my source pictures is a panorama of the Jungfreau in Switserland, a JPG image of 14,525 x 2,476 pixels.... the width is more than twice the 7,200 pixel limit of Photo Story 3, yet the panning/zooming was easily done in Movie Maker 2.1.     - blurry on burned DVD but Fine in MovieMaker I seem to have the opposite problem usually posted. My slideshow - video in MovieMaker works great in Movie Maker -saved as a video. with the .wmv extension. When I tried to burn it onto a DVD it can't or wont do it. So I downloaded a trial conversion software AVS Video Converter (have to purchase it or get the logo throughout movie- any other ones you suggest that are GOOD- Free and won't download a bunch of JUNK.     - Jpeg format - help! I am also getting the error message about source files. I have windows XP, there is plenty of space on the drive. I have also "x"d out the boxes under "tools - options". My story board consists of 100-200 jpeg pictures that I have edited in "Photoexpressions" with titles and captions. I have transitions on each frame.     - 10 second file becomes 9 seconds when saved I'm new to MM, but have used Adobe After Effects for a few years, so I thought that it would be pretty simple to do some basic things with MM. Using MM Version 2.1.4026.0 on XP Pro. I have some uncompressed AVIs (video only) that I wanted to convert to WMV, open in MM, overlay titles and export. These are 10 seconds, 30 Frames Per Second looping AVIs, so getting the right length in and out is important for the loop. I converted from AVI using River Past Video Cleaner, Quality Based settings - quality set at 90. When I opened the 10 second WMV files in MM, overlay titles and save them as WMV, they export at 9 seconds long. Tried lots of files... So I tried just saving without titles and got the same result. Now in the MM preview window before saving, the duration of the WMV I brought in shows 9:93 (not like ANY time code I've ever seen before), but not a second short either. I opened the very same original WMV file in After Effects and it is - as expected 10 sec duration. Open the new saved WMV version (from MM) and it is 9 seconds. Trying to isolate the problem, I took the original AVIs into MM and saved them as AVI to see if the length stayed the same. The AVI saved from MM became 9:28. While the original is 10 seconds in duration. Still not correct, but .02 sec. off is not as bad as an entire second missing in the WMVs. I used G-spot to look at how the WMVs were being made. It tells me that the codec is WMV3 - WMP v9 (VC-1 Simple/Main) and the file type is ASF (WMA/WMV); Mime Type video/x-ms-asf. I am just baffled. I was testing this method as an easy way to put titles over a file in WMV format. After hours of researching, testing, reading everything I can find about the process - I'm not so sure that it is simple. I've been to the MVP sites, tried to educate myself on WMV and MM, but I'm getting nowhere! Please tell me that I am missing something obvious. I just can't believe that opening and saving a file would change its length. I would really appreciate some input, because this is one newbie that may never get beyond the beginner stage if I can't solve this problem. Thank you very much for your help. I had Movie Maker installed before on my PC when I purchased it 3 years ago.
I recently got a virus so I had to restore all the files on my PC with my
restore CD. Now I can not perform this feature in Movie Maker 2.1.4026 as
Save to DVD is no longer an option.

Does anyone know what I need to do to activate or download to get this
feature again? I have Windows XP Media.
