I can't believe a guy who *claims* to have database qualifications (presumably something other than desktop databases) could ever claim that MM was networkable. MM knows nothing about networks, all that it knows is that there is a "mapped" drive available, which to MM will simply appear as a drive, the program knows about the same amount on networks as my dog does and at a guess my dog knows more about this than he does. To MM the drive it is accessing is just a drive...no more than that, it knows nothing about optimistic or pessimistic locking of files or records. It does not share a common pool of data and using the normal domestic connections to another computer it cannot even be accessed across the network if it is located in its default location, it can only be run locally. >problem? Its quite obvious that the people employed to watch over these people have little knowledge in this area, or they prefer to not rock the boat....whatever it is they are allowing things to slip. The wheel will eventually come off, but I expect that the only thing to happen will be that they get moved on.     - Captured Video and Playback Quality Group, I'm using a Sony DV Camera Model DCR-HC40 with a USB cable, MM2 with XP Home as a platform. The capture video appears like the pixels are off, the color is in shades of gray but the audio is clear. After processing through MM2 the playback in Media Play, Real Player and DivX Player is the same poor quality. I have tried increasing the resolution on the computer to no effect and changing the configuration in the capture wizard to no effect.     - Audio and Video I have a problem that when saving my video... the percentages goes at a slow rate, then all the sudden it speeds up, sounds great, but no... when you go to watch the video the video stops after a certain number of clips, but the audio keeps going. And it never stops at the same picture (oh yeah, this is a slide show set to music). The audio always continues, but the pictures always stop at a random point. Ever seen this and any suggestions?     - MM2 problem identified (I think) Last week I wrote about a problem (clash)with a USB TV Tuner and Moviemaker 2. After installing te USB TV Tuner software MM2 would load and then as quickly disappear (close) again. I tried lots of very helpful advise from this group including renaming codec files, but none of this resolved the problem. Over the weekend I reload my entire (XP) operating system and al of my various software. Then I reinstalled the USB TV Tuner hardware and software (a little at a time) while testing the stability of MM2. All was OK until I installed another package that ships with the TV Tuner, which is apparantly required to 'grab' images etc. After installing WinProducer 3 Vers. 3.1B001.34C00, Moviemaker 2 stopped working as described above. It would appear that WinProducer replaces a component used by MM2 which causes the problem. I don't have the knowledge required to dig any further, but thought that if someone else where to strike a similar problem this might be of some use to them. By the way, my USB TV Tuner works apart from an error message everytime I start it saying that WinProducer is required to be available for loading at the same time.     - Adding to timeline error Hi I'm having a problem adding clips to the timeline and storyboard. I have a great 5min movie and I have another 15mins to go before I finish but wmm2 won't let me add any more to the storyboard or timeline.     - connecting digital video cam via usb port?? MM2 does not recognize my video camera when connected to usb port supplied with camera. Have Ieee 1394 port on this new computer, but it is larger than the ieee1394 firewire connector I have that fits and works with a lap top. I have been told I need a usb driver to use the usb port.     - Movie too large for DVD? Maybe I just don't yet understand DVD burning yet. I have a 1.23GB wmv movie, edited with MM2, authored with Sonic MyDVD demo (until I find the software that works for me). It became 300MB too large to fit on a 4.7GB DVD. So I had to save the image to hard drive, use DVD Shrink, then use a demo version of Nero to burn to DVD. Way too much software involved for what seemed to be a simple process. Why did the movie become too large for a 4.7GB DVD? What capture size settings should be used? Did I miss something in Sonic MyDVD?     - Help! Library not registered?! My OS is Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1. I am using Windows Movie Maker 2 recently, but I don't know why, several days ago, when I opened MM2, there was an error occured - 'Library not registered'.     - Shutsdown MM2 shutdown when the file selection window opens after clicking on Import Video. The default window that is opening is \My Documents\My Videos. I only see it open for about 2 seconds then MM2 shutsdown. I found that not only does MM2 shutdown while trying to open \My Documents\My Videos but, Windows Explorer restarts, Windows Media Player shuts down and all other video software. The only exception to this is the Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 and its bundled programs that came with my DVD burner. So I unistalled the Ulead suite and everything works fine now. Would some one please suggest a DVD software program that will do what the Ulead bundle is supposed to do and NOT conflict with my other programs? Ulead gives me a DVD player and Burn.Now (which allows you to burn Data, MP3 and Audio to CD or DVD).     - MM2 and Networks I did an overnight test of Movie Maker's 'network awareness' and it worked great. My laptop is my primary movie making computer. It had 9 GB free and I rendered a 12.9 GB DV-AVI file. I tie into my home network with a wireless connection. By putting the source files, the project file, MM2's temporary files, and the saved DV-AVI movie all on the hard drive of one of my desktop computers, I was able to use the laptop to make the project and save the one hour movie without using any of it's free disk space. If you read http://www.eicsoftware.com/PapaJohn/MM2/MM2-DVD.html there is a "Thumbnail" sidebar that describes the authoring process from saving your movie as DV-AVI, converting it to MPEG2 with TMPGEnc, then burning the MPEG2 with authoring software. However, it says nothing specific about the audio portion. Yet, further down that same page is a link, "Configuring TMPGEnc for High-Quality DVD-compliant MPEG2", http://dvd-hq.info/Compression.html which says that you should not use TMPGEnc for audio conversion, nor should you use MPEG2 for the audio format. It says you should instead use PCM or AC3. Another site http://www.digitalfaq.com/authorburn/authoraudio.htm also suggests this. How to make AC3 then? There is AC3Machine and BeSweet, which seem to be able to create .ac3 files, but although Sonic's MyDVD *says* it can read AC3, it claims the files are unsupported when you try to actually read them.     - Writing to DVD PLEASE can someone give me the correct information on how to write my WMV and other "movies" to DVD. I have added transitions, titles and credits as well as audio in the making of my movies but when it comes to writing them to the disc I either get an error message or improper format.     - need help FAST I have been using movie maker at school to complete a final project for a communications Technology Class. My plan was to finish it at home, but when I sent it home to myself none of the clips were showing up on it, then I noticed that I could use the browse for missing file thing to reselect them, but it gives me an error when I do that.     - Getting 2hrs on a DVD? hi, I just don't understand how to get 2 hrs of A/V on a DVD. I make my movies/slideshows with MM2 and save them as DV-AVI. If I use Sonic MyDVD authoring program on the DV-AVI file, then I get only about an hour. This is somewhat well-discussed on Papa John's website, so I try using TMPGEnc but that opens up its own can of worms. Either it crashes (about 90% of the time I have to repeat the conversion 2-3 times), or the mpg file it creates is just as large (still only 1 hr in MyDVD), or the mp2 file it creates is small but then no audio. When I add the audio then I'm back down to ~1hr on the disc available. This can't be so unreasonable and difficult. There must be some simple steps to going from MM2 to 2hrs on a DVD.     - digital video to DV camcorder via firewire There seems to be a common problem having searched the web related to saving dv-avi back to camcorder. My problem is typical: Sony dcr-trv22e Mini DV with dv in/out MovieMaker 2 Camera is found and moviemaker can import a dv-avi file from the camera via firewire with no problems at all. On attempt to back to the camera using the wizard the camera and wizard go through all the steps (including the camera playing forward in record mode) though all that is recorded is a blank screen and no audio. saving to dv-avi then exporting using divo produces the same problem. Roxio is a lot harder to use than Movie Maker 2 for me anyway. I created a nice music video for my daughter and would love to import that to Roxio to put a menu on it and burn it to DVD can I do that?

Yep, just save the movie as a dv-avi file, import it to roxio and follow
their instructions to make your dvd.
