I have read all 64 pages of this discussion, and I went through Papa's page,
and now I mixed up everything. Could anyone be so kind to tell me, in short,
the best procedure for getting the best quality possible.
I capture videos through firewire, DV-AVI, and I understood that the quality
would be low during editing.
Which option should I use for saving an edited movie:
1. For playback on the computer
2. For burning on a DVD
3. For making a VHS

Thank you all

I would like to know how do you get the best resolution ? I have a brand new
JVC digital miniDV camcorder and when i made my movie the resolution is very
poor compared to when i play it back thru my VCR. I am using USB 2.0 should i
buy Firewire?

For captured video: DV AVI
For picture slideshows: WMV 640x480 (or 800x600 or 1024x768 if use custome
profiles)

I would suggest you to do your own experiments to verify any suggestions you
rad here. Also do report back your results.

I'm impressed with all your reading.... I'll vote for:

1 - The 'best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)' choice....
but it might not be best for your other computers, or those of others. The
best one for each one depends on their capabilities.

2 - DVDs have to be made with MPEG-2 files.... save as DV-AVI in Movie Maker
and use TMPGEnc to make the MPEG-2 files.

3 - VHS tapes are lower quality than DVD, but DV-AVI will also be the best
choice... essentially for anything that plays on a TV.
