Someone please help! I'm, trying to create a working video file from Windows Media Player in .WMV format. My computer is running WinXP. I edited the movie in MS Movie Maker and saved to my harddrive in .WMV format, and the video (picture and sound) launched in Windows Media Player immediately and played beautifully. However, I have tried to play the same file on other computers, (Win2000NT) and Media Player will only play audio - plus there is an error message that Internet Explorer is missing a "compressor" file. Why will one play the movie and the other won't?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The older PCs with Windows 2000 and NT do not obviously have the latest
version of WindowsMediaPlayer installed.

They can update to later versions

www.microsoft.com/windowsmediaplayer

Or you can update them with just the v9 codecs.... if they are online when
they play your WMV file they should go and seek out the codecs by theselves.

>I'm no expert, but I recognised the problem you're
having as I had it too and I have read that the version
of Windows Media Player needs to be at least version 9.0
as a few of my friends couldn'y playback my PhotoStory
files which are saved in .wmv format.

Hope that helps
