    - WMM or another Program for Editing My camera takes .MOD files which means I would have to convert all the files (using another editing software) for use with WMMaker. Because of this would it be better to use another program for Making my movies? Id rather use WMM so I dont have to suffer a severe learning curve.     - Burning WMM movie to a disc I have recently made an extremely LONG project in WMM, the movie consists of about 6 possibly 7 hours of video files (in AVI format), some opening and closing credits, some photos and some music. As yet, I have not finalised the project into a Movie (as I know it will take a very long time to do) but once it finally is a movie, I would like to be able to burn the movie to disc without having to fit it on several discs (if that is at all possible!?). Or should I save it to my computer first as opposed to saving it straight to disc? I know definitely 7 hours of video in AVI format would easily take up more than 1 disc, but I just don't want to have about 4 discs of 1 movie (as the video footage is of a 4 day event, so don't really don't want it spread over more than 3 discs). Is there an option in WMM to finalise the movie to another format (like MPEG-2 to use less disks) without losing too much of the video quality?     - media player wont recognise video files from nokia n95 hi, i got windows vista home prem. win movie maker wont recognize vid files from my nokia n95 and wont automatically import them. i can drag and drop files but then movie maker just recognises audio part and i get sound but a black screen! have tried turning off filters and various other things with no success.     - Download Movie Maker Hi there, I am new to windows movie maker. I cam to use it today and discovered that it is not installed on my XP machine. Looking at the Microsoft support articles I could see that Movie Maker 2.1 (for XP) is only downloadable via XP SP2!!! I already have SP2 installed on my machine. Does anyone know how I can download movie maker 2.1, without having to un-install SP2 only to install it again. Any help would be very much appreciated.     - re-imported tape, now clips are off I re-imported a tape that had more video added to it. I deleted the original import and named the new import the old tape's name. I was assuming that since WMM will only import from the beginning of the tape that all the old clips should sync to the new import. Apparently they do not. They are off by two minutes for some reason. The project that has the old clips (when it is opened) has the correct picture of the original clip for about 10 seconds and then it is replaced with picture of the wrong clip. Why are my clips' times off if it is the same tape from the beginning? How is WMM seeing the correct clip preview for the fist few seconds of the project opening?     - Website for uploading big home movies? I have a movie that I've made and want relatives all over the place to see without having to burn DVDs and mail 'em out. I know there are a number of websites that allow you to upload such movies and have the viewer watch online without having to download them. But my movie is 1.2 GB (22 minutes long, Quicktime format) and the sites I've looked at don't seem to have that capacity.     - Can't open a project I've got Movie maker 6.0, running on Vista Home Edition, in italian language. Yesterday and this morning I created a project, but, now there's no way to open it. Every time I try to open it, a msgbox informs me that its: "Non implementato", that means "not implemented". Does anybody knows some solution?     - Simple PIP effect Does anyone know how I can achieve a simple PIP (picture-in-picture) effect? I have two videos, each of 1 minute in length, and I want to produce an out video that is 1 minute long. One of the videos will be full frame, the other will be shown in parallel in the smaller PIP window. I've found a plugin called PIP+ but it seems more focused on less useful flying PIP's than simple static ones. I don't mind paying a few bucks for a plugin, and was ready to pay my $8 for PIP+ until I found that it doesn't do the simplest PIP effect, only the complex ones.     - Adding background music to my project Hi all, I need to make an instructional WMV video to show how to use a certain aspect of Windows. I used Media Encoder 9 to screen capture the procedure. I then edited the video in MM2.1 until all the "bloopers" were eliminated. After that I added audio by narrating the steps that the user must follow. I noticed that MM2.1 added the narration to the Audio/Music track. Finally I added a WAV music track to fill in holes at the beginning and end of the screen captured procedure. As a last step I would like to add background music to the narration at a very low volume to avoid being annoying, but I can't figure out how to do it. I used Google, but most of the results detail steps on how to add music or narration to the Audio/Music track, something that I already did, but so far I have not been able to find any info on how to add background music to the narration.     - JVC Editing in MOVIE MAKER I bought a nice JVC Camcorder. It makes .MOD files which have to be converted to MPG MWV or AVI to be edited in WMM. Ive read on here that WMM doesn't "like" or "work very well" with .MOD. What my goal is (and judging from some other online forums) is to convert the .MOD files WITH Windows Movie Maker. I was given a lead last week that Adobe Premeir Elements or ULEAD video Studios. I have several questions. 1). Ive found a product (and the free trial works nicely to convert) called AVS4YOU, Ive been able to convert it (although only to WMV which works in WMM) and the clip adds to my timeline. But just because I could get it on the Timeline and can edit as usual is this THE BEST Solution? 2)When you recommend using ADOBE Premeir Elements or ULEAD are you saying to use one of THOSE products as our FILM editors. My point being we wouldnt be using Windows Movie Maker to edit or projects? Sometimes the answers are ambiguious enough that I cant tell whether you are recommending using it to CONVERT the clips so they can be used in Windows MM, or that because of the JVC Enviro that Adobe Premeir Elements or ULEAD would be the BEST and most Hassle free way to edit our movies now. 3) Also, can those programs do everything (or more) that Windows MM can do? Point being, is there a tremendous learning curve for those of us that wont be using WMM for our JVC stuff? I hope thats everything, sorry for the length, but Ive encountered much in JVC< here and other similar forums of people asking about what to do about converting .MOD to a format so that WIndows Movie Maker can edit them. Most people (as myself ) are driven to the question, merely so we dont have to switch Movie Editing Programs, and because of my naivete' (I wont speak for others but it appears so).     - wont publish Hi there... I am making a video as a gift for a friend on my windows movie maker. I have the vidoe done and have watched it several times. Now I am trying to publish it, but everytime I hit publish, the program freezes and re-starts. I know that the problem is the video clip I have. It is a 20second or so video clip that I took on my camera. I deleted this from the video and it published fine, but the video just isn't the same without it! Does anyone know how I can get it to publish with the video? I have made a video before using a video clip from my camera, so I'm not sure why it isn't working!     - Movie Maker Error I have converted several flv files to wmv using a third-party program called WinFF. The converted files play fine in WMV, but I would like to edit them. I import the file in MM and can edit them. When I go to save the file, I get the following message about 40% through the saving movie file process: "Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again."     - After SP2, still have MM 2.0 I have windows xp sp 2 with all latest updates, but my Movie Maker is version 2.0.3312.0. I did a search for moviemk.exe which i believe is 2.1, but it is not on my hard drive.     - Help - PS3 & MM - poor quality Just used PS3 for the first time and find it's great. Here's my problem. I am making an 8 min or so movie for work. I started with PS3 using 81 photos while an mp3 is playing. The preview and saved file works perfectly. This is 4 mins of the 8 mins. I need. I then imported this wmv into MM to add other clips and pictures. Before I did any other additions, I saved this as a movie in MM to view it. The problem is it runs choppy with the zoom effects very poor. I have been making mini movies each year for awhile. In the past I end up adding the movie file into powerpoint. This year I am being more creative and find it will be impossible to add to PP and intend to burn the final production to a DVD. What solutions are there to add to the PS3 imported wmv into MM while adding the remaining 4 mins of clips I need and saving as a smooth movie to burn? Or am I asking too much from the software?     - Movie Maker lost the abiliy to capture in DV-AVI from a camcorder Windows Movie Maker has lost the ability to capture video from a DV camcorder in DV-AVI format. The DV-AVI selection is now grayed out and not available. It worked when last used about 1 month ago. Rebooting windows does not help. Windows automatic update is on. Movie maker automatic codec download was off. I turned on automatic codec download and imported an AVI video file on the computer without fixing the problem although from the wait before starting the import I suspect a new codec was loaded.     - TITLES and CREDITS One Problem I have is. I have a problem dropping text to be overlayed on a video in the exact spot I need it. I drag it with my mose and it will put it at (lets just choose a number) at 1:00:30 or it will let me put it at 1:01:07. Is this a function of my mouse not being sensitive enough?     - Problem getting error writing video file My son is trying to save a video to file and keeps getting an error that really doesn't make sense. This error occurs sometime even before it tries to write the files, and at other times, it writes the file 10% of the way, then gives the error. The error message indicates there are are 3 possible problems: 1. There is not enough disk space. 2. The source files are missing. 3. The destination where the file is being written to is no longer available. None of these 3 conditions are true. The hard drive has 44GB of space, and the size of the video file we are trying to save would be about 10MB. We have also tried writing the file to a SD card just to test this situation, but we get the same error. We are able to play the actual video through within Movie Maker itself, which I am assuming means that the source files are avialable. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue?     - How to " select it all " and put it in the timeline ? I can select all pictures at the top level ( like in the WDW collection), but each and every video needs to be dragged so I have to scroll all the way up - to the left - select it. then drag it to the lower right ,etc. Is there ANY way to speed that up ? After spending an hour or two getting all the pictures,videos from a recent trip into Collections in WMM, I have " East Coast Trip" and under it " Florida" then in that I have - WDW - Miami - Keys etc then GA --Savannah --Hilton Head then SC Charleston , etc ( so "left screen" is now less messy) what I'd like to do is: click on "East Coast Trip" "Select All" and drag it to the timeline. i have added a video clip on to movie maker, & made a composition of
different shots but i want to make a certain clip i have put on the time line
play in backwards. So that the end of the clip plays back to the start (NOT
the end of the composition to the start)
