Hi,

I'm new to Movie Maker. I created a movie with pictures and when I went
back into it later the pictures were not there, only the square with a red x
in the middle. Thru reading it sounded like I had to copy the files from the
CD onto my computer, so I did. Reimported the pictures and seemed to be
fine. Then I figured when I saved the file as a movie it would take the
pictures too. Not! Can you tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks,
Kathy

You needed to resolve the red-Xs in the project file.... by right clicking
on a red-x and browsing for the missing file - in the project, not the
collection.

Reimporting the pictures may resolve the collections but not the project
file.

Thanks for the quick response. So, I open the project and in the storyboard
where there is a pic it is a red x. The last time I browed I clicked on the
pic in the collection part of the screen, not the storyboard. Is that what
you mean? How do I get them to stay with the project or movie so others will
be able to see them rather than on the cd. The pictures are on a cd as well
as on my hard drive.

yes... sometimes the collection clips and project clips will be resolved at
the same time... but it's the project ones you are mainly interested in when
they are already there. The collection database and project files don't have
an automatic relationship.

The pictures are used to make the movie, but not needed beyond that.... all
the info in the movie is contained in the saved WMV or DV-AVI file. If you
want to put a set of pictures on a disc in addition to the movie, do it with
your CD software, not Movie Maker.

Thanks again, but it still didn't work. I put in the cd with the pics in it,
opened my project and in the storyboard I right clicked each x. It went and
found each picture. I then saved the project and reopened it. As soon as I
pop the cd out the pictures turn to a red x.

Yes... the pictures need to stay in place until you finish saving the
movie.... you might want to copy the pictures from the CD to your hard
drive, remove the disc, then point Movie Maker to the hard drive folder...

Thanks. I just opened my project, went to the storyboard and clicked on each
individual picture so it could browse for each one (that's after I put in the
cd with the pics on them!). Now I am saving the movie file. I'm hoping that
once its saved I can pop out the cd and be able to play that file without the
cd in there? That's how it should work, right? That way other people will
have access to the pictures in the file. Let me know if that doesn't sound
correct.

Thanks for your help...
