Number of clips in collections pane

I can only import one video clip into the collections pane. When I import a
clip it replaces what is already there. I can import more than photograph but
not clips. Is there a setting that I have wrong.

a new collection is created for each imported clip... look closer at the
collections you're accumulating as you go, and you probably have them all.

it feels like it's being replaced...
