Hi. I am so frustrated. I spent 700.00 on a camera ( with extra battery pack,
case ect...) and I can not make a movie. I was so excited to discover that my
WXP had MM but then I find out it won't accept my mpg2 movies. Papajohn (and
others ) post that I need to download a converter and convert them to avi.
files. I did that. Then I need to download a Panasonic codec something or
other, I did that.
Now I have managed to turn one film into an avi file,( yeah!) but MM2( I
upgraded to MM2 thinking that might help) will not accept that either. says I
don't have the codec.
In control panel I see that the new codec is up and running.. sooo.... Help
me please!
I really do want my new expensive toy but I am not enjoying it !
Thank you to whoever helps me with this.
Papajohn, your sight probably has everything I need but since I don't know
ANYTHING about software I am probably not doing it right.

The free software...GSpot...will identify the codec
you need. Be sure to read the Super Quick Start info:

You're probably right about it being something you need to do
differently.... all part of the learning curve.

The good news is that, once you get it working OK, it'll be something that
becomes easy and routine.

I'd comment more but don't know what you've done so far and what else you're
trying. What converter did you download and try? The Panasonic codec might
be on your system, but it doesn't get used unless you select it when doing a
conversion.

I've been all over that PapaJohn site and tried everything there but my
Moviemaker 2.1 just completely hangs whenever I try to save a movie! I'm
giving up. I'll probably have to go shoot the video again since the clips
are now in my computer rather than in the camera! Moviemaker just seems to
have gobbled everything up put won't output it! I have used the program
countless times in the past with no problem. Haven't done anything different
this time. Have even eliminated any fancy transitions, etc. STILL LOCKS UP.
I have to go into the Task Manager and 'end process' to even get out of
Moviemaker!
