Movie Maker DVD Recording
I need a program that will work with movie maker to I
can burn DVD's. Are there any good programs that won't
cause major problems with the computer (XP) and won't
break the bank. Personally, I enjoy using Windows Movie
Maker for its use and I don't want to buy a entirely new
program. Thanks for any thoughts. Tag: Multiple_Language Tag: 12782

Changing Titles text positition is that possible in MM2
I'm editing an birth video, and there is a little
problem. I want to add a text with the telgraph text
roller at the bottom of the video, the original template
in mm2 it's a bit uppwards and when i use it, it will
show my wifes "holy grail" to all that watches the video.
Is it possible to change possition to censor that? if i
zoom the video the whole scene will be useless. Any ideas?
Have a nice day!

avi on movie maker 2
When I had mm1 my files came out with big AVI extensions and I could convert to mpeg2 and burn them on SVCD. Now I have mm2 and my files come out with little avi extensions, and I cant convert them to mpeg1 or mpeg 2. My camcorder is a mini DV device and captures video through IEEE controller. Is there anyway I can capture or save my projects as a big AVI extension. Thank you. Tag: Multiple_Language Tag: 12772

All I want to do is transfer my 8MM tapes to DVD's. I am
converting my Analog Tapes through a digital coverter box
and the picture shows up on the screen. However, the
record stops after a couple minutes, and I would like to
record the whole 60 minutes to the harddrive and then
copy that to the DVD recorder. Any ideas?

MM2 quits at end of loading mswmm
Hopefully someone can help with this:
When I want to re-open the project I am working on, MM2
loads much or the whole of the file, but before opening
it, I get a pop-up saying:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe
abnormal program termination
OK"
After pressing OK, MM2 quits.
I tried to open an older project I still have, one which
refers to pics and vids no longer there, and that file
opens faultlessly.
I also went on PapaJohn's excellent site, and following
suggestions there, I increased the page file size, I cut
down hardware acceleration to level 3, and I renamed
all .ax files I found listed on the site. Unfortunately,
nothing of that helped.
Admittedly, this time my project is much larger than
previous projects have been. It includes some 275 jpeg's
and about 150 avi's.
My computer has 2000Mhz, 512Mb and MSI NVIDIA Gforce 4,
DirectX 9 and Mediaplayer 9.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance!

Analog Analog Analog
Ok, let me rephrase my question?
I have an ANALOG VCR.
I have a computer.
I have WindowsXP Home.
I have Windows MovieMaker 2.0.
Is there anyone out there who captures video from an Analog VCR, edits
the captured content using MovieMaker 2.0, and makes a VHS tape of the
edited content?
How are you accomplishing this?
Analog VCR tape --> Computer --> edit with MM2 --> Analog VCR tape
I do not have a DVD burner on my computer.
I do not have a DVD player that is compatible with VCD.
I do not have a DV camcorder.
I do not want to spend any more money on this than I must! Tag: Multiple_Language Tag: 12753

VCR to DV Camera to WMM problems
I'm trying to capture video from a VCR. When I play the
VCR tape through my Sony TRV 22 I can see it in WMM, but
when I click "Capture" the DV tape in the Sony starts to

on the VCR tape. Is it possible to capture straight from
the VCR to WMM without first having to record onto a DV

Re: .avi Storyboard/Audio Problems - PapaJohn - Thanks......but.........
As you indicated, changing the name of .ivaudio does indeed stop the audio
problem from occurring in Storyboard. However, at a price. The video, while
playing right through, jerks or shudders a bit while doing so, and the sound
plays through too but is of only average quality. In short, a clip played in
Storyboard isn't a patch on a clip play in Collections. Something in MM2 is
still trying to mess with the .avi file.
So, I give up! ;-)
Can I revert back to MM1? If so, how do I do this? If I have to use the XP
Pro roll back feature, will any software that I have installed since MM2 -
quite a bit - be removed also? I would be very grateful if you could advise
me on this.
I have to say that this whole experience has been, far and away, my worst
with any Microsoft product. Not good at all.

New XP Pro install, MM2 update, MM2 now toast!!!

connected. Latest Radeon Cat 4.2 installed.
Movie Maker was working. Didn't test it fully but I'm pretty sure I started
it up and the composite input off Radeon came up.
Been doing the thing at Windows update (new install) and noticed the MM2
update so did it also.
Now when I choose to start recording MM2 hangs. Supplied help seems to
indicate a video device selection dialog box should come up but it never
does.
Any ideas? I havem't updated WMP from 8 and would prefer not to. Hopefully
that's not a requirement is else the update site would have indicated same.
Also I can't find any "Remove" for MM or MM2 in Add/Remove under any of the
choices.
I can seem to use all the video devices in MSMessenger, the VFW's devices
(cams) in NetMeeting and ATI's TV-In app is working finest kind.

manually purge the registry? Tag: Multiple_Language Tag: 12698

My problem is creating clips to edit.
When I click import video into WMM2 with make clips

either. Its just one big file.
Am I missing something or does it not work on .avi files?
I also split the avi file and that did not help.

- When I go to Save As, no matter what settings I try, the final saved AVI file plays distorted (people come out thin)

Poor Audio Quality
Hi NG,

When I import one of these Avis with Movie Maker (it creates a clip) then
the sound quality is so heavily reduced, that it is nearly impossible to
understand what anybodys says on that video.
I did not found any setting to configure audio quality.
Can anybold help?

Fonts and Colors
OK, this will seem a bit stupid, I'm sure. but here it is anyway; I cannot find the ability to change fonts, colors, or alignments for an overlay. I've read the help file that states, "Selecting the title font and color
This page lets you choose the font and colors for your title or credits. By changing the font and colors, you can change the appearance of the title to enhance your movie. The following options appear on this page."... however, I'm not seeing this option anywhere. When right clicking on the text, most MS programs give the option "FONT". This one does not. Did I miss an instalation file? Am I completely in the dark about something simple and stupid? I can see my title, the overlay works fine, I've tried in both without starting a new project, and in a new project - what I would like to do is to have an overlay in a semi transparent font in the lower right hand side of the screen. Analog capture thru sony dv camera
I am trying to capture analog video using my Sony TRV38
digital video camera as a converter.I am using an
IEEE1394 connection. When I go to capture the video it
shuts the camera off. The only way I can capture the
video is if I turn the camera on first. Then select
record pause on the camera in vcr mode, and then connect
the IEEE1394 cable. I get an error message, close it,
then it starts to capture the video. Is this the only way
to capture analog video thru my digital video camera

further important clue to my WMM problems:::
In my ongoing quest (about a month now) to clean up the excessive jerky, hic-cup-py platyback of video in my WMM2, I want to add the following clue: After I capture video, there is that horizontal green progress bar, that I think(?) says somethng like "loading", but now it just zips(!) right through itself instantly ... whereas in the past when my WMM2 was working *right*, that bar would slowly progress left-to-right as it gauged the processing of my captured video
Anyhow, nowadys, it does none of that - it just blows right through it. Can this suggest something? Is something zapped on my system? I've tried reloading WMM2 a few times; no luck
... still stranded on an island .. with no WMM2 to play with ..... help ..

DVD player that plays back WMV 2Q2004
When this player is available I think I will finally take the plunge and
convert my edited DV files to high qaulity WMV.
http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,114279,00.asp
I currently use the free Windows Media Encoder 9 Series to convert my DV
files to a WMV format with goood quality and that could tolerate a few
re-encoding generations if necessary. However, I am reluctant to delete any
DVs because I don't know if the format I selected will playback in a
hardware device. This player would validate that.
This is my current "Encode DV.bat" file:
cd \program files\windows media components\encoder
rem the following command is all on one line
cscript.exe wmcmd.vbs -input "C:\Video\Edited" -output
"C:\Video\Encoded" -v_codec WMV9 -v_mode 2 -v_quality 85 -v_keydist
1 -v_preproc 1 -a_codec WMA9PRO -a_mode 2 -a_setting Q75_44_2_24
rem pause so that you can see any possible errors in the command
pause
The script above encodes all files in "C:\Video\Edited" to variable bit rate
quality level 85 deinterlaced, audio quality level 75. The results are
placed in "C:\Video\Encoded". For all the switch definitions see Start Menu,
