I am working with a student on a school project. She has created a Movie
Maker project - imported pics, music, video. We went through all steps -
saved the movie to computer. We have since played the saved movie in Media
Player.

The project is so good - we are planning to enter it into our state media
festival. Her original folder was backed up - all files are located in the
same folder. When we open the project - it shows the first slide - all
others have a large X (though the pic name shows below it). How can we get
all the pics, audio, video to show up in the project without having to import
and start over?

=============================
If the original source files are available
on the computer you are working on...
right click the Red Xs and Browse to the
location of the source files...this should
re-establish the links.

John,

Will it have all of the correct timing (she had shortened length time for
different pics - adjust audio for timing) - will all that be as she set it up
once I add images, audio back with right click and find file - or will she
have to redo the timing?

Once the links are re-established the
project should be the same as it was
before you moved it to the new system.

I guess you are aware that unless you
intend to continue editing the project
you can save it in a movie format? The
.mswmm project file is only compatible
with Movie Maker and is not useful
for sharing the project with others.

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

Also, you may find it useful to use

John,

We have saved the movie and it plays perfectly in Media Player. I just did
not want to pull in these pics and lose the original edits she has done with
timing, transitions, etc.

Thank you for your help and feedback.

That info is in the .mswmm file.

You're welcome.
