    - re booting My problem is that my computer insists on rebooting especialy while trying to copy to CD or DVD, I have no trouble transfering from my digital camcord to the computer the problem is during the rendering or writing to disk. I have used 3 different programs , Pinnacle Studio 8, Unlead studio 8.12 and Windows movie maker, The machins has also rebooted when listening to music and occasionaly when copying a regular back up CD.     - Transitions I am not sure if this is the right place to post messages for Movie Maker, so if this is the wrong newsgroup someone please let me know. I am running the latest version of MM and I have a question regarding using music with transitions. I create photo stories using Plus Photo Story Software from the Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition. When I export out of Photo Story and then import that video into MM when I add transitions it like skips part of the music when playing. Almost like it cuts the clip when the transition happening and then picks up again. Any ideas why this happens and is there a fix for it?     - Error Message Whenever I try to save this one video file, it keps saying that I've altered the imported files since I imported them. They have not been touched or altered in any way. When I preview the video, everything shows up, and it works fine. However, when I try to render it as WMV, it always says that the files aren't available. What can I do that doesn't involve redoing it completely? The program is really frustrating me, and I'm beginning to hate Windows. Its always giving me problems like this.     - saving to DVD Greetings Papa John! Your help has been immeasurable over the last 2 weeks - thank you! Tricky programme but the results are well worth it. However, I am now unable to get my saved movie to play back on the DVD player or on my PC. The file was saved first at high quality video (cutting the project into pieces and importing the videos) then saved as DV-AVI (pal). I then used the TMPGGnc to convert the file to mpeg. Now, it can't find the required codec to play back on my PC as an Mpeg (I have reset the internet security levels) and it certainly will not play back on the DVD player.     - Save Movie as DV-AVI (NTSC) Error This is sort of complex so please bear with me while I try to explain the details. Just finished a project and went to make save movie in DV-AVI (NTSC) format and the "Save Movie Wizard" dialog displayed the following "Cannot Complete the Save Movie Wizard", "Your movie was not saved successfully". "Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location. Verify that the original source files used in your movie are sill available, that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space available, and then try again". So I did all of the above and everything checks out just fine. Closed MM2 and reopened project, but still wouldn't save DV-AVI (NTSC) movie. So figured I'd try saving it as a 'High quality video (NTSC)' movie; worked fine. Figured maybe something wrong with MM2 preventing it from saving DV-AVI (NTSC) movies, so I loaded the main source clip into an empty project and saved it as DV-AVI (NTSC) movie just fine. Okay so maybe something wrong with some of the other clips, transitions, or titling in the project. So I delete everything from the project except the main video clip (the one I mentioned saving above) but it still wouldn't save as DV-AVI (NTSC) movie. What gives? How can I figure out what is wrong with this project and fix it so it will save as a DV-AVI (NTSC) movie? Tag: HP Movie Writer Tag: 22714

    - Windows Movie Maker conversion I recently bought an HP 420i DVD burner and I am trying to convert the WMM slideshow I made of my trip to Ireland to a media format the HP will burn, without success. I've read around groups, etc. and haven't yet figured out how to do this. When I try to burn the VCD it kicks out my DVD-RW and says to check the media. The only thing I can figure out is that the HP burner doesn't like WMM format, but I can't figure out how to change it or save it. Anyone have this figured out? All help will be greatly appreciated.     - WMM 2.1 Beta? I saw this mentioned on Papa John's site. Sounds like a major improvement, to solve crashes due to codec conflicts within the program, without having to rename codecs manually or with a 3rd party program.     - MM2 Bug List Been reading through some of PapaJohn's web site and find there are bugs mentioned here and there. It would be nice if there was a bug list one could go to to see if a symptom they are experiencing is due to a known bug. Is there such a list already in existence?     - sound skips Everytime a transition happens in my movie (slideshow) you can hear it in the music. I have changed my MP3 files to WAV like suggested. Is there any way to prevent this? In fact, one of the best I think I have ever seen if not the best, and the reasons for that are the participants, all thoughtful and considerate people. I came to MM2 after a hiatus from Ulead products, found MM to be a very good program, but alas, my prior experiences made me realize I still wanted the things MSP could give me even if it wouldn't run on my current equipment.     - Cannot detect DV connection? Hi, I've just purchased a new computer with Windows XP and an ATI video card to do video editing. When I connect up the DV (already playing the video) to my new com via the firewire cable, the computer gave a sound indicating that the com detected a new connection.     - Video quality I have succesfully recorded video to Movie Maker from a Sony Handycam thru the firewire port, but am shocked at the poor quality of the recording, versus what I watch directly on my Handycam.     - Windows Movie Maker 2 I am using a Sony DCR-TRV260 NTSC for making videos. I generally set the camera to LP for shooting video, but when I download to Movie Maker 2, my video comes out showing digital pixels which blurs the images, and distorts the finished movie.     - Audio vs Audio/Music I have still pictures (NO VIDEO), narration, and music that I want to all go at the same time. So the music is background and the narration is heard while the pictures are passing by. I cannot figure out how to get background music. It seems like the only way is if I have video. Audio levels don't work for both narration and music in the Audio/Music row of the timeline. How do you balance music and narration in the Audio/Music row?     - Custom Effects and Transitions not working Downloaded the custom effects and transitions from MS. Followed the instructions, but still no extra effects. The original effects still work fine. The only thing I didn't understand in the instructions was compiling to visual c++. Not sure if this applies to me or not. Here are the instructions I followed: Create the AddOnTFX directory in Movie Maker's Shared install directory (C:\Program files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX), and then copy the XML files from the XML directory in this sample (C:\MMSTFX\XML\*.xml) to the directory you created. Register the enclosed DLL, MMSTFX.dll, in the sample's Bin directory by typing regsvr32 c:\MMSTFX\Bin\MMSTFX.dll from the command line. Run Movie Maker and look for the new transitions and effects. When compiling this sample be sure to add the DXMedia SDK's include directory (C:\DXMedia\Include) to your Visual C++ include path.     - Some quality loss when written back to tape Hi, I captured in DV-AVI format, supposed to be lossless, and then wrote back to DV tape. When watching edited tape and original tape using frame by frame it is obvious that some quality was lost when transferred to Movie Maker and back to tape.     - Sharp VL-Z1 ... Pls help Hi there, I was trying to download the video from the camcoder VL-Z1 to my pc through the firewire but failed. I then tried the same thing on another pc and it works, both pc are running Win XP. The only difference I spotted was my pc doesn't really "recognize" the camcoder while the other does as message pop-up as soon as I connect the camcoder to the pc. Did I miss out anything?
