    - Help to Save Movie to computer Read many past posts and still I cannot save my movie to desktop and then eventually to disc. I have cut my movie down from 20 minutes to 3 minutes ( 17.5 MB) and still cannot save it.     - Error Opening Movie Maker Project (Redirected) I accidentally posted this in the wrong group, but someone kindly informed me of my mistake. I'm using Windows Movie Maker with XP and no, no IE7. Now, when creating my video there were no issues really. I saved it a couple times, but I didn't actually have to open it again during its creation because I kept WMM running the whole time I was making it. After it was completed I tried to save it as a movie file. I've done this plenty of times with no issue, but the progress bar stuck at 89% and then the estimated time remaining went up. (65 seconds, then 1 minute, then 4 minutes) I canceled and then attempted to save again, but encountered the same issue. I restarted my computer and then when I tried to open the project I was informed that WMM had enountered an error and needed to close, so sorry. It's very important that I rescue this file, because it was a creative project and there is basically no way I could redo it. Especially because when I tried to do that, create another version of it, I had the same error when trying to open THAT saved file.     - Cut part of movie's frames Hi, Can be used the Movie Maker to create a video witch frames to be parts of an existing video's frames? So I'd like to cut a part of a video (if the initial video size is 384x288 I'd like to use a 300x225 pixels from the center of initial frames). If it couldn't, can you reccomand another solution?     - After unchecking codecs, MM won't start - says it can't find audio I have XP with SP2. MM was starting to crash on me more and more, especially after adding audio. I followed the advice on papajohn.org to uncheck some codecs in the MM options. Then crashes seemed less frequent, but after the next reboot MM won't start - it says "Windows movie maker cannot be used because the required audio hardware cannot be found on your computer." I'm pretty sure I didn't remove any codecs specific to my sound card (Realtek AC'97), but I uninstalled the sound card drivers, downloaded a fresh copy and reinstalled them anyway. No change. I've searched the web and found others having this message, but not because of simply unchecking codecs. How do I recover?     - Is Movie Maker on Vista compatible with XP My son started a project using Windows Movie Maker on a computer that has Vista on it and is needing to finish it up on a computer that has XP on it. When he tries, he gets the message that he is doing it using a version that is not compatible. Is there anything he can do to make it compatible.     - MM2.1 and iMovie Hello All, I am thinking of taking a video course in the Fall. I am told that this course uses a Mac and iMovie for video editing. I am unfamiliar with this platform, and of course, do not have a Mac. I would like to find out how feasible it is to move a video project between iMovie and MM2.1.     - Restore crashed Movie File I've recorded about 2 hours a movie by a digital cam with Microsoft Movie Maker. When I finished the record Movie Maker starts to create a wmv movie. While creating the movie the Movie Maker crashed. The size of the created movie is 202 MB but not finished. With VLC-Player I can view the first part of the movie but not all. At my hard disc I found two files "WMTF.tmp" and "WMT10.tmp". My guess is that Movie Maker has cashed the record in this file. Can I restore the movie with these two files?     - Drag & Drop Limit? I can only add 6 video clips to the timeline, after that, MM crashes. However... when I restart it, It appears to go directly to the point where I left off, but I have to start all over again.     - Moving MM to laptop problem 1. I created a movie with Movie Maker 2 on my home computer. I copy the parent and child folders which contain my pictures and WMVs used in the movie to my laptop. When I launch MM2 on my laptop I want the collections to display exactly how I organized them on my home computer. Is this possible? 2. Some of the pictures have a large red X in the timeline. When I browse for the file on my laptop I receive a message stating something like, the file does not match closely enough, please import another file...".     - PS3 to MM2 - problems burning I've wasted 32 DVD-R trying to figure this out. I made an animated PS3 WMV and saved under a few profiles. DVD-NTSC has the best end results. After importing this file into MM2 to add to my existing movie then save as a DVD-NTSC movie, some of the PS3 transitions jitter, but I can live with them. My main problem is trying to burn to a DVD-R. The quality is terrible. I am using Nero Essentials 7 with a Sony burner. I have tried many setting variations In PS3, MM2 and Nero but can't produce a quality finished movie. I have tried using the generic CODEC's in PS3 and MM2 as well as installing FFDshow using appropriate WMV CODEC's, which all fail. I have also tried Windows Encoder on the MM2 WMV. My movie plays fine (acceptable) in power point which I will present to an audience later this week and want to burn a bunch of DVDs to hand out. I just can't make it happen. I could use help please.     - Various Problems with Movie Maker Hi I wonder if you can help me with this notty problem! I'm trying to import 29 .mpeg files into Movie Maker so I look over them and trim them if ncessary. Now for some reason Movie Maker doesn't import the whole 29 it just imports about 9 Videos why does it do it? I've also tried to encode them to .avi still the same issue!! The next thing I have - I was trimming two files on the timeline no problem saved in wmv format ecnoded back to .mpeg I then "joined" all the videos together and when I come to section where I trimed the videos all I can see is the actual video but no sound!!     - Various Problems with Media Player Xp Pro Sp2 Hi I wonder if you can help me with this notty problem. I'm trying to import 29 Videos into Movie Maker they are mpeg and are from my cam corder (I have the videos stored on a seperate drive) and for some reason Movie Maker is not importing the full 29 videos witch are mpeg format. I encoded them to .avi and still Movie Maker has other ideas and is not importing them all properly. Do you know what the problem might be? Also Two of the videos I was "triming" in which I saved properly in wmw then converted them back to mpeg using the Super Encoder Program. Now the problem is when I joined all the videos together and amongst the videos I joined those two only show the picture and not the sound! I tried everthing and it has me baffled!! I'm trying to import 29 Videos (mpeg) into Movie Maker but they don't all import and I don't know why this happens how can I get all the videos in there because I need to edit them.     - System not detecting camcorder I am running XP with SP2. In the past few days, for no apparent reason, my pc has declined to recognise either of my DV camcorders (Sony A-1E and Canon XM2) - at least it does so intermittently - and has now stopped altogether - I can only surmise that my 1394 Card or iLink cable has become defective ?     - File compatibility--possible conversion I used Pinnacle's Instant DVD recorder (has Dazzle as the analog converter) to convert lots of parts of different VHS tapes (analog) to digital video files onto DVD discs which were then copied to the PC. One of these now-digital videos have the following names: Folder = VIDEO_TS Files in this folder: VIDEO_TS.BUP VIDEO_TS.IFO VIDEO_TS.VOB VTS_01_0.BUP VTS_01_0.IFO VTS_01_1.VOB VTS_01_2.VOB I have opened Movie Maker 2.1 and tried to import these files from my PC folder into it to no avail.     - Problem loading video files I have just bought a new HD Handycam. The videos I have captured on it are being sent to the computer as an AVCHD format.     - Question -- I have XP with SP2 with all downloads up to date. Recently when I try to use the "Capture" feature in Movie Maker I get an error message. The first time when I clicked "More information" I was told to download a Windows program that disabled Dr. Watson, but that did nothing. I have several times totally reformatted my hard disk and used a disk that came with my Emachine to restore the computer to as when I brought it from the store. Did not help. I bought another Capture Video Card and removed the old one. No help. I am truly frustrated, because the "Capture Video" feature of Movie Maker is something I used often. When I get the error message I always click "Send It", but that is a useless exercise. I am at a loss as to what to try. Does anyone have any suggestions? I fear even if I bought a new computer I would get the same error when I tried to Capture with movie maker. When I open the control panel and Add & Remove programs, Movie Maker is not listed so I cannot even take it out and used as third party capture profgram.     - Problem with the size of published movie If someone could please help me out solve this problem: When I publish the movie in windows vista, it gets published fine but when I play, I see that the published video has shrunk to half of the screen.     - Beginning Problems with Movie Maker I have never been able to figure out Movie Maker. 1) It keeps asking me to save my movie on a CD, but don't I have to save it on a DVD - if my movie has a picture and sound.     - Editing Imported Video Could anyone explain the mystery as to why when I play or import video that was recorded on my set top DVD from my set top VCR they playback on my comuter with a distortion line at the bottom and a 2 inch darkend border on the right side? Tapes that I am dubbing to DVD are not copy protected prerecorded, they are just VHS tapes of old programs and home movies. If I am only recording television programs with my set top DVD recorder from the cable line they play and import perfectly into my pc.     - Rendering Difficulties with Movie Maker 5.1 I am attempting to edit and save/render a video file for a webinar my company recently conducted. I've successfully edited my file. However when I save it, the estimated time creeps up and up into the hundreds/thousands of minutes and percentage completion doesn't get past 6% or so. It never makes any progress. CPU utilization is 0-2% for Movie Maker during this time. I would expect something much higher. The source file is wmv, with only three minor edits in he beginning - Clipped the start time and then clipped out .75 sec w/in the first 5 seconds. Original run time is 48 mins. file size is 39.9MB, frame rate is 29.97 and ave data rate is 14KB/second. I'm attempting to render to WMV at broadband rates of 150kbps w/ 15fps. I get the same result whether the file is edited or not, or if I save the unedited file as AVI or WMV. Computer is XP SP 2 Dual core 2.2GHz w/ 2GB RAM.     - Cannot open project, WMM keeps prompting to close Can anyone help? I've created a very long project in WMM and saved it to my desktop. (although I have not yet finalised it in into a movie). When I go to open up the project, the progress bar (showing the project opening) only runs up to halfway then I get a message saying "Windows Movie Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." this then follows with another error message saying "moviemk.exe - Application Error, the instruction at 'ox05481469' referenced memory at '0x00000000'. The memory could not be 'read'. Click on OK to terminate the program, Click on CANCEL to debug the program." I have clicked on both the OK and the CANCEL and the system just closes. I have read a few messages posted by others users on this site relating to this same problem and I have uninstalled Internet Explorer 7 (which I had installed whilst I made the project), I have rebooted my laptop and then tried to re-open the project and the problem is still occuring. I have enough free space on my disk drive and really cannot understand why this problem keeps occuring. I must say even during making the project I got the same error messages. My project is about 8hours in length, and contains jpeg photos, music and video recordings. The project has taken me an awful long time to make so I really do not want to start it from scratch.     - video quality after importing clip in movie maker After I import a wmv clip into movie maker, there are instances when the video image goes black, completely black or sometimes some pixels go black, almost as if the image breaksdown, the audio is fine, just the video image. With Firefox and its DownloadHelper plu-in. I go to the YouTube video. The DownloadHelper icon is animated, indicating that it's working. The video plays through. But the dwhelper folder, which is the default save location, is empty. Does anyone here know how to save videos using these applications or, failing that, can someone recommend a freeware application that works for this? For example, if you're watching a documentary video that plays some really loud and annoying music while people are talking, is there a way to mute the music but still hear the people talking?
