I'd uninstall the firewire card. Turn pc off. remove card. turn pc on. turn
pc off. refit card in another pci slot if possible. turn pc on adn let it
refind the drivers.
If the firewire port is built into the mptherboard then just uninstall turn
off and turn on and test.
Check for a bios update for the mobo.
then as it sounds like a connection issue, which could be anywhere. It may
be hardware, it may be software, so you could either spend hours testing to
find it, spend money to get someone to find it, or just plug the cam in and
turn on before booting the pc.
