    - frozen playback from storyboard I have Vista Ultimate, major problem with MM. I have recurring problem playing clips from the storyboard/timeline. I can play imported clips with no problem, can split them and move to storyboard, can even play them back on the black screen. But once I save project and leave MM, then return at a later time, I can't play them back on the black screen. I have lost hours of work. I tried starting the project all over again, works fine until I stop, save, and return later. Frozen out. I am a novice to MM, want help explained in a simple, easy to understand and follow way.     - Moviemaker Saving Moviemaker stops saving when the file it is saving gets to be 288,644K in size, and I get the "cannot save to this location" message. 288,644K is the size of the (unredadable) .wmv file fragment that it saves before hanging. So I infer that MM thinks there is only that much storage available. There is actually over 100gig avaiable on the disc. Any help with a fix?     - MPG2 to AVI I was able to use Virtual Dub to change my MPG2 file to AVI using the panasonic codec, but when I try to import, I get the same error message that the codec needed to play the file isn't installed.     - Help - No audio when capturing from camcorder Hey everyone. I am hoping someone can help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I used the cable that came with my camera and connected to the computer via the yellow video and white audio inputs, and I am able to obtain the video but there is no audio. I then tried it using an S-video cable, and the same results. Why is the audio not coming thru? I hear it on the playbakck from my camcorder, but not from the computer.     - I get mpg file is empty file when importing video My Noikon saves videos in MOV format, which is NOT supported by Windows Movie Maker {BUT SHOULD BE!}, so I have converted the files to MPG files, but when I try to import any of the converted videos WMM pops up with a window that says: The file D:\Cat Video from Nikon Camera\Silent Conversions\Close Up Face Shots.mpg is an empty file. But I can LOAD every one of these "EMPTY FILES" into any other prgram that plays MPG files and they play fine. So the files ARE NOT EMPTY! So how can I make WMM import these video clips? And why is it telling me they are "EMPTY FILES" when, in fact, THEY ARE NOT!??? Any help here would be very much appreciated it. I like the program and it works great for still photo's, but I want to be able to create some movies from several video clips I can put together. I have tried both importing them one at a time as well as a multi-import, each time WMM tells me the file(s) is(are) "empty", I am using the most current version 2.1 of WMM. I just don't understand how the software determines wether a file is empty, especially since NOT A ONE of the files I have tried to import are empty, the video is there, anyone know what is going on with this? Oh, the videos have also been resized (camera takes them in 640x480 DVD MOV format) to 320x240 MPG format.     - Help! I have spent the last week trying to get Window Movie Maker to work on my computer. I have talked with HP support for approx 15 hours trying to get it to work. Their support system is in India so it is really hard to understand them. I have a Windows XP Media Edition and WMM was on my computer when I bought it 2 years ago. I just tried to use it last week so hence the problem. HP had me uninstall it and then sent me to a microsoft web page to download. There was no option to download from there so I found it at another sight. I downloaded it again and I still get the error message and my options are to debug or close.     - loss of quality after adding transitions and effects I am using a Sony Hard Disk Drive camcorder. After adding transitions, effects and titles and burning a DVD with Movie Maker, the total size of the DVD is 20% smaller than when I use Sony's Imagemixer software to burn a DVD without editing.     - Wide screen not maintained Running XP Pro with Movie Maker 2.1.4026 Downloaded wide-screen HD clips. Opened movie maker and dragged and dropped clips to the storyboard. Went to tasks > Finish movie > save to my computer and named movie and best quality and next. Took a while but the end result was not in wide-screen nor HD. One solution I did find was to disable "Media Center Receiver Service" = in services.msc. That did not work.     - movie maker hangs when movie over 2mins I used to have a camera that recored 640x480 vid files. I've used movie maker 2.1 to make movies up to 1hr in length.(great!) But, I have just upgraded my video camera. It records at 1280x720 mjpeg avi movie files. The files are large. Movie maker imports them no problem but just quits (hangs) when the movies get above about 2 mins (in time line) To try to solve the problem I've saved the under 2min movies/s as 856x480 .wmv 25fps files, and then re-import them(alot smaller file size).But the same problem happens at roughly the 2min mark. I've tried the same movies on my work laptop movie maker and it has no problems with the same files. (it has the same 1.5gb memory as my home pc but faster processor) (both running XP, service pack 2, movie maker 2.1) I've tried most of the papahohn stuff, but it still hangs.(extending cache etc) Anybody got any more ideas how to solve this as I really like moviemaker (could my Hp laptops graphic card have anything to do with it?)     - inconsistent blackened scenes Hi. I am trying to make a simple slideshow from pictures with Moviemaker. I bought the Sonic/Roxio software to get it to DVD. Last time I used this I had some problems but muddled through. This time when I save the project to my hard drive, it saves to Windows Media Player. I am now checking this to play before trnasferring to DVD. It inconsistently stops playing the pictures towards the end but continues with the music. It's a black screen. Show is only 13 minutes in all. I have saved it in both formats of Highest Quality NTSC and also the AV-DVi NTSC. Doesn't seem to make a difference. Can anybody please help? One time I tried it and it ran all the way through but were a few glitches (hesitations at certain transistions) that I didn't like so I went and changed just those couple of transitions, now the whole thing won't run through.     - dvd burn: wmv is clearer than avi. Why? Hi, I've been reading so much about burning a video file to dvd and everything says to save the wmv file to avi and then burn the avi to dvd. But when I do that it's not clear on any of my televisions and its also more pixelated and also the image seems abit jumpy. However if I leave it as a wmv and burn to dvd the output is much better on TV, text is not as pixelated images are better and no jumpiness. Still, Im not that happy with the quality. Should I try to save the Windows Movie Maker file in a different format other than avi? I am using MyDVD vers.8 to burn. Overall I just can't seem to understand why i have to change the wmv format to avi and then burn to dvd, when if i just burn straight from wmv to dvd its better? When I add the music to a slide show and then create a movie file, the movie actually plays the music at it's original lendth, thus making the last part of my movie silent.     - Problems with exported video color I'm having a problem with the color of an exported video.     - avi or mpg edit to wmv I am using windows movie maker in vista notebook. I used Super software to convert my camera's mov file to avi and/or mpg before making wmv. I tested the avi and mpg file with irfanview and they could be viewed with sounds. But I could not bring the converted avi or mpg files to the video row of wmv program by drag-and-paste. My avi or mpg files were dragged to only the audio row but could not be in video row thus only hearing the sound.     - Green Bar on published videos I am trying to edit some family movies which were copied from a vhs tape to a dvd. I used a trial version of a dvd ripper to copy the dvd to my computer.     - Scenes disappearing when going from Movie Maker to DVD Maker ...and I thought my first video edit/publish with Vista would be flawless. I've captured and edited about 84 minutes of video in Windows Movie Maker. I then attempt to publish to DVD. Movie Maker automatically saves my video and opens up Windows DVD maker. That is where the problems begin. When I preview the movie before burning, a few of the scenes are missing. Furthermore, parts of some scenes are missing video.     - Clips turn black/blankthey get split -- can't preview or save When I import videos into my collections and they are broken up into clips, the first clip will be OK but the subsequent clips will be black in the timeline and preview window. I can still hear the audio fine, I just can't see them. If I join the clips together, then everything plays fine and I can see it. If I can't see the preview, when I save the movie, I can't see that part of the movie file either. How can I fix this so all my clips work? The clips I'm using are DivX compressed AVI files -- they should work. I even took a clip that I couldn't break up successfully in WMM2, saved the whole thing in WMM2 and then see if it worked and it didn't -- I still couldn't split it up. In the info it says it's Windows Movie Maker version 5.1 and then it says it's Windows Movie Maker 2.1. I don't know why it says that, I think it's 2.1 I have Windows XP Pro, service pack 2. I have an AMD Athlon X2 dual core processor 3800+, 2.01 ghz, 1 GB RAM. 20 GB hard drive space. I'm using a GeForce 7300GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported video card. WMM2 never used to give me this problem, but I recently got a new motherboard, processor and video card. The only problem I used to have was crashing and I fixed it by disabiling certain video filters. Please let me know how to make Windows Movie Maker work for me! and needs to close. I tried reloading sp2 (even got a disc from ms). Hitting
debug closes the program.
