The quality is not as good (grainy) as when i connected the camera direct to my TV. Should there be any loss in quality? I thought that digital through firewire to pc was lossless.     - No audio at capture I have a Sony TRV-33E miniDV, when using Sony packaged software for capturing on USB, audio works OK. When using WMM or Roxio for capture, video is OK but no audio. WMM and Roxio play back video and audio from files captured with Sony software OK. Could capture everything with Sony and then use other programs but it's nice for things to work properly with each program. It's as if Sony driver has taken over USB audio in.     - Picture quality terrible - Is it my hardware? Hi, I use a Panasonic DV NV DS65. When I record and playback on the camera or linked up to the TV the picture quality is perfect but when I use Windows Movie Maker to capture the video the quality of the picture is very jerky and pixalated. I use a Compaq Laptop with AMD Athlon 2400 chip with 500+ mb RAM. A salesboy at Camera House said I need a Firewire card. I don't think so. A salesman at Dick Smith Electronics said I need a better program than Movie Maker. I'm not confident these gys know what they're talking about. Personally, I think its because my laptop doesn't have a dedicated graphics card. I've tried capturing it on different screen sizes etc but it doesn't get much better. Anyone know the answer?     - Can save movie only in certain format problem. I am simply making a movie consisting of music (.wmv format) and words (which i use the "titles and credits" provided by WMM). But i cant save the movie in some formats i prefer. I can only save the movie in avi (pal) format which is over 500MB! and some pocket pc format which is too small!     - Movie duration in WMM I have recently started using WMM to transfer my DV video onto DVD. After creating the projects and editing the movies, WMM will only allow me to burn 60minutes of video to a standard 4.7GB DVD. This means that for some videos I am having to cut them short or burn them onto 2 DVD's.     - Picture Freezing on saved Movie ***NEED HELP FOR SCHOOL PROJECT** I am doing a movie maker movie for a school project. When I save the movie to my computer (or any other device with the exception of a DV camera, because I don't have one) there is always an error. Either: a picture at any point in the film wll freeze and be up for the entire film (i.e. picture 25 at 2:41 will be up for the next fourteen minutes until the film is over) but the music keeps playing OR the same thing, but that picture is upside down Why does this happen, and how can I fix the problem?     - Can not save file Please help! I can not save a windows movie maker file to any device. I go through the entire wizard process to get the following error. "Windows movie maker can not save the movie to the specified location.     - WMM not responding I just discovered WMM two days ago, and I've been working with it and found it to be just great. However, today it's been a pain in the neck (and in some other places, too): When importing a video it won't automatically create clips, so I have to make them myself. I can live with that, though. What is really a problem is that it keeps on getting stuck and not responding. So I have to shut it down using the classical ctrl+alt+del. Yesterday and the day before it worked just fine. Does it have anything to do with the fact that it was automatically actualized by Windows? That's the only difference between how it is today and how it was before I can think of.     - transfering saved movie to InterVideo DVD creator I have windows movie maker version 2.1.4026.0 and have created and saved my movie succesfully to my computer I then try to import it into InterVideo DVD creator program and it gives me the message "This file ............, cannot be imported. make sure it is a valid file type and that its contents have not been corrupted."     - Audio problems - windows movie maker 2.1.xxxxx Have a Sony DCR IP7 digitial camcorder. Used it and Movie Maker version 2.1.XXXX. I am always able to get the video recorded properly, but I cant get the audio going. Audio device set to Line in and Input source set to either Stereo Mix or Line in (doesnt matter - it doesnt work).     - Music not jumping with timeline slider Im making a movie with both audio and vidoe clips but whenever i move the slider along the timeline, while it is paused, it replays the whole audio clip when I press play to continue it. So I can click ahead on the timeline to move ahead,say, 5 10 seconds, and the video will move on but the music wont. So every time I want to check the syncronization of the video and music I have to listen to the whole piece. This is ok at the moment but eventually Im going to have to listen to about 5 mins of music to get to the point I want. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated.     - Scatchy Audio Hi, I'm using a Canon S40 digital camera to capture video. Movie Maker recognizes the AVI files fine and can play them in preview mode without a problem but playing them from the project storyboard results in distorted / scratchy sound; rendering the movie has the same issue.     - IEEE Link Port Cable Ok So I was having trouble with blurry video and was told to order an Ilink 1394 4 pin to 4 pin port cable. so I ordered that and waited patiently for it to arrive. Once it arrived I hooked the thing in to my camera and proceded to look for a ilink port in my computer to plug the cable into. that is where I have run in to a problem.     - What do I do next? First I take video with my samsung mini dv camcorder. Then I capture video into collections in windows movie maker. It is set to create clips. I then have have thumbnails of the clips in the collection window. After that, I drag a clip and drop it on the timeline for editiing. Once the clip is edited, I click FILE<SAVE PROJECT AS. Then I name it and save it to a "My videos" subdir I have named "clips". It gets automatically saved as a mswmm file. I then have all the clips of the tape edited and saved in this manner. It is at this point I am having problems. I don't know how to get them onto the timeline for combining and inserting transitions. If I try to drag them from "clips" onto the timeline or storyboard I can only do one at a time, meaning, if I try to drag a second one, the first one disapears and only the second one is shown starting at zero seconds. How do I get more than one clip onto the timeline so I can combine them, insert transitions and make a movie from all my clips? I MUST be doing something wrong somewhere. Please help. Mahalo.     - Burning a DVD Windows Movie Maker does not recognize my DVD Burner - it is a Sony DRU 720A DVD/CD Double Layer burner. It works with other programs I have. The burner had the windows logo stating that it was compatible with Windows XP. I can't find a compatibility list for Windows Movie Maker to see if it works with this burner. (Another older program I had wouldn't work with it either but I managed to find out it wasn't supported) Nero came with the burner but I have saved the movie in the format for Windows Movie Maker and would like to burn the DVD from that program. no need to replace it... MM2 and MM1 can run on the same system, even at the
same time with the same source files. See the Setup > MM2.0 page of my
site... the section about getting MM1 back.
