    - "Unspecified Error" when opening MM2 When I try to open Movie Maker 2 or Microsoft Producer 2003, I get an "Unspecified Error" message and the application fails to open. The problem seems to be specific to my Windows XP profile (i.e. when I'm logged on as someone else it works fine), but this presents a significant problem to me. Has anyone seen this problem?     - compressing the mpegs well first of all can mpegs be used to make movie in movie maker...the source is a sony digital camera... i have mpegs abt max 6 sec long and i will have closer to hundred such scenes... this would mean 600 mb or more than that... a five minute movie and i do not think i can get this across seven seas back to india in any way ... any ideas ???     - MM2 movie skips during title pages on DVD, problem not present in preview Ok, I've made several movies in MM2, they look and sound great in preview on MM2. I am saving them as DV-AVI files and using Roxio ECDDVDC to burn to DVD. When I preview the movie in Roxio, it looks fine. However, the movie on the DVD stalls, and stutters (including audio cutout, dropped frames, etc.) during titles. If the titles are animated the problem is worse. I exported the movie back to my camcorder and it played just fine, however, when I re-imported the movie from the camcorder into a new MM2 project and burned the resulting movie, it had all the same problems the first dvd had.     - DV capture freezes -Hotfix?- When trying to capture video VIA firewire from my Sony DCR-TRV230 to Movie Maker the video preview freezes after several seconds and it stops capturing, even though the camera rolls along as if it's still working. I've looked at Papajohn's pages, tried a few things to no avail. Here's the thing: MS has a "Hotfix" on this page: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN- US;830363 This is reportedly a "confirmed problem" for XP with SP1 and DirectX 9- my configuration. But I have an OEM version of XP Home, so apparently they want to charge me money for this "Hotfix." Is there any way to aquire the hofix without shelling out more $$$ to MS?     - problem sending back to dv camera I edited a video clip with sound the size of the file is 37 meg , I'm using a 8mm digital camera. when doing a 5 minute video clip it transfers it ok no problem but when doing a 10 minute video clip it comes up saying it was not successfully recorded into the tape. any ideas?     - only audio, but no video in timeline playback A few weeks ago I posted this: Whenever I try to play the full timeline back in MM2, it plays the sound but doesn't display the clips or titles. (It won't even preview title text whilst I'm setting up a title). However, it will play both the sound and pictures for individual clips from the collection before I place them on timeline. The timeline only has a couple of very very short clips, so there shouldn't be a length/size of clip issue. The same computer also still has MM1 on and will successfully playback the timeline in that version. and I received this reply: If they are MPEG2 clips, it's probably a codec issue. The clips I've tried are a WMV's but I've also tried with avi files & still have same problem. Have installed WMP9 for Windows XP, but still no joy. Other ideas welcome!     - video freezes audio continues I made a slide show with digital pics using Movie Maker and added several songs. It plays ok on the timeline and I saved it to a CD and to my computer. I played the CD using Media Player 9 and it works good for about 3/4 the show and then stalls on a pic but the songs keep playing. It does the same thing with the file I saved on the puter.     - Movie Maker 2 will not add titles....anywhere adding titles is straightforward...but cannot add titles. I enter text...click add...nothing happens. I am running win2k and xp on two machines....same problem. Have tried several movies....just cant add titles. Transitions, sound, etc. are no problems.     - Done everything to upgrade MM2 I've tried all the fixes i can find on the web to upgrade to MM2. I had it on my computer after I upgraded to XP and I had some problems with XP.     - Importing MPEG - No Picture ! When I import a mpeg movie file and then drag it to the time line, it appears on the 'Audio/Music' line only i.e. there is nothing on the Video timeline. However if I play it in Windows Media Player, everything (sound and picture) is there. Anyone know what the problem might be?     - Sound I captured video to Window Movie Maker 2 and edited it, seemed OK. Then I saved it as .wmv format. Again MyDVD Preview Mode all was OK, so I burnt it onto a +DVD. However, on the finished DVD there is a specific sound sync problem. It is OK for most of the project until you come to a title without audio inserted into the "storyline". After the title, the video continues, but the sound does not restart until 6 seconds into the video. For the rest of the film the sound-track remains the same exact 6 seconds behind the video.     - can capture video but not audio Hi. I'm using Movie Maker 2 and trying to capture video from my VCR using Pinnacle Linx USB capture device. When I choose as Audio Device the Pinnacle Linx device, the only audio input source is "ADC". I can see the input sound level bar moving, but when I capture video, there is no sound.     - Device disconnects I start a capture and it will run about 2 minutes and then the capture stops. I receive a message that the device has disconnected and as soon as I kill the message I get the popup that you normally get when you turn on the camera.     - De-Letterbox when converting? I use WMM2 to make small movies to watch on the Pocket PC. I use the largest set profile for PPC, 320x240 at 218 kbps, to convert MPEG movies to watch on the PPC. 320x240 is not letterbox, however if the original movie is in letterbox wide-screen format, the resulting picture is also in that format, with an empty black stripe above and below the picture. I don't mind watching letterbox on the television. The empty black stripes don't bother me. However, on the PPC, the screen is so small, I would like to have the picture fill the screen, and not have those black stripes above and below the picture. Go to the post I made a few minutes ago. I solved the crashing by setting the Direct X Override to Default. Do it in Direct X Diagnostic Tool>More Help>Override>click on Default.
