    - Firewire Connection I have a Dell Dim 4500 with no port to accept a firewire connection. How does one go about having one installed? Is it a do it yourself project? Where do I look for help, at Dell, or Microsoft. or Sony, where I purchasted the camera... Camera is a DCR=TRV?480 Handycam.     - Movie Maker has stopped reconizing my Panasonic PV-DC252 mini DV I have used my palmcorder with firewire (IEEE) connection and Movie Maker in the past but in the last month it will not reconize my palmcorder. My USB picture connection works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on troubleshooting this issue?     - Problems with fire wire or movie maker I used Movie Maker to edit video from my sony mini dv and 8mm digital. I also use Sonic to direct burn my tapes. I burned about 20 tapes, and I came back to extract video to mm to edit from my 8mm digital. Now my camera screen says I have dv in but movie maker won't recognize my camera.     - First time Movie Maker user Created my first movie (mixture of photos, clips from digi cam) with MovieMaker. I saved movie to pc first. After viewing it I then saved to a DVD +R. Attempted to view it off the disc on a pc and a dvd player but with no success. Where did I go wrong? Anyone have any tips please.     - Movie Maker Dies... I have some video that I have extracted using Intervideo DVD Copy product. Basically I have extracted a small chapter from a disc. I need to edit the file to shorten it.. so I thought I would use the Movie Maker for that. When I import the video I get a critical error and basically I am told that memory could not be read at some hex location... and then when I click ok the program dies. If I import MPEG or AVI/Divx that is exported from this Intervideo product this happens. If I import WMV it does not happen but there is some loss.. I would really like to use the AVI... any thoughts? I went to Intervideo and they wanted me to restore my OS install... dumb of course. The machine is a new install of XP SP2... it is plenty of horsepower too. I am really at a loss... The videos all play fine in Media Player so why would I not be able to import them?     - MCE2005 - DVD Option I've been checking my new HP notebook computer to learn more about the DVD burning option within Movie Maker... on a MCE2005 version of Windows XP. One thing I learned is that you can substitute another file such as a Photo Story 3 story, or a DV-AVI file... and end up with that on the DVD instead of the movie project on the timeline.     - Saved moviemake project on CD blurry When I watch my moviemake project via my DVD player on TV, the image is crisp and clear. When I watch it on my computer (using Power DVD) it looks blurry.     - Audio on storyboard too fast We can play a MPG file in MS Media Player just fine. We can preview the same clip in MM just fine. When we move the clip to storyboard, the sound is compressed to half the time and it sounds like a chipmunk. We have updated the codecs, we have removed the acceleration of the audio card, we have updated DirectX, and we have tried it on two different computers. Any other ideas?     - Can't hear audio track (& fading) Hi I can't hear one of the audio tracks when playing the full movie. I can hear it if I play it on it's own. It is an MP3 track and I have other MP3 audio files in the movie and they work fine. Any ideas? I think it worked at one point but not now. Have tried deleting file and re-importing.     - Select a Video Hosting Provider? Why should I pay? I can not believe I have to send my movie to some company and HAVE to PAY for their services when I have 3 FTP servers running at home. What gives Microsoft? I really can't believe there is no way to input an address when at the send movie to a hosting provider. Isn't MS making enough $ since ACTIVATION went into effect 3 years ago?     - Saving a Video file as original 304 x 224, is there a easier way? I have created a Divx 6 video. I want to edit this file using Windows Movie Maker. Once I've edited this video, and saved it as a High Small Video File it changes divx to wmv and also the video to 320 x 240 different from original. In order for me to change it back as the original I have to install a Profile Editor which is included with Windows Media Encoder package. Would I save the file as a MPEG-4 Video V1?     - Title/text combined with video? Is there a way to have a bar of left-right scrolling text along the top or bottom of a video clip, running simultaneously while the video plays?     - Undesired "Funhouse Mirror" Effect when Rotating Clip Input file is MPEG-4 in .avi format, 640x480 pixels, from my Canon S1-IS digital camera. When I captured the video, the camera was rotated 90 degrees. After import into moviemaker, I rotated the clip 90 degrees to set things right, but moviemaker apparently "stretched" the result in the horizontal direction (instead of inserting bars or something), so now the aspect ratio of objects and and people is messed up. How can I rotate my clip without messing up the aspect ratio? Re-capturing the scene is not an option, it was a once-only opportunity.     - merging projects I have created several projects using WMM(v5.1). I would like to combine these different projects into one video to record back to my camcorder or to save to my hard drive in order to then record it onto a dvd using Sonic. I have tried to import one project into another, but it either doesn't allow me to do this, or I am doing something incorrectly. Does WMM even have this option? Thanks for the help!     - Plugin Adaptor crashes WMM2 when starting up! Ok, I just updated to windows SP2 and got WMM2. I launch the program and as soon as it loads up it starts loading plugins through PluginAdaptor. It gets to this one file and it gets and error, I click ok and it keeps running through programs in the c drive I think.. then it gets to one and the program closes immediatly. If I try to click on anything it goes into the "Not Responding" state. and help please? It works fine on my laptop but this desktop computer it loads those plugins.     - Compressor, which one to use ? I have just used for the first time RAD video to convert from mov to avi. I converted the file into a MEPG4 and the new file has a wmv file extension. This does not present a problem as far as I can tell because I can now play with it in MM2. The question I have is after I select to convert to avi how do I pick which compressor to use ?     - Handycam DCR-DVD103 I have Handycam DCR-DVD103 camera. I download the recored MPEG from the camera to the hard drive (HD) through the USB prt using the picture package software that came with camera. Then, I import video from the HD. The problem arise after editing 5-7 clips where the prgram stop responding or shut down spontanouesly. Also if i do noe editing at all and try to save 30 minute movie, it takes very long times 8-9 hours and also the program close befor it complete the mission.     - too many programs similar, how to do..... I have used WMP2 to more or less create slide show with transitions etc. It only has maybe 15 slides, no audio yet, not been burned to CD after saving to HD... I now find that it CANT be be read/seen on a CD (or DVD?) standalone machine used with TV, hence cant show this thing on a TV? NOW I have fine, photos, scans etc, and text for these, but they are isolated to the computer world at present? BUT I can take said photos, add captions, make text enhanced with graphics on another program and save as a file, hence having a graphic text regarding each or many photos.... WHERE is the program that will do this simple task and simply overwrite music? Even as a 'second track' (poor term..) . IMHO we have a huge waste of time dealing with the R&D of not only WMM but the others, then finding out our efforts are only for the computer world...... I invested in a 42" plasma TV, yet I cant use it, nor can Aunt Bess or Cousin Al, read and use my family history enhanced photo journal.... Color me frustrated...... Can I include both formats on the same DVD in separate chapters to let the viewer pick which format is best for their home TV?     - Audio drop out when rendering back to DV cam (only) Having completed movie, when sending back to DV camera (via firewire) audio occasionally drops out (goes silent) for a fraction of a second. Particularly noticable if using an over dubbed music audio track and often the drop out is the overlay track not the audio with the video, thus I assume the Camera is responding OK. (No problems when saving to other file format eg video CD). Does not seem to be related to how hard the PC is working, ie lots of transitions cross fades or few and having checked processor use, seems like it never gets above 47% use during render. Also does not always happen in the same place every time but more often than not; on occasion it does not drop out but buzzes like a hung stopped note for a fraction of a sec Tends to happen two or three times within the first minute then is OK for the rest of the movie. (Not running fat 32 and have turned off quite a lot of background running progs eg internet firewall Spybot etc.) PC spec is 2.6 Althlon, 1G of RAM, 200G HD useable, movie lengths around 8 mins!     - Date and time (again) Hello. I asked about how to get time and date with my filmclips yesterday and got some good tips (thanks to PapaJohn and Graham Hughes). None of them to my satisfaction though. The problem: To get time and date showing in the lower right corner (or someplace else, of course...) of my home movies. The help i got: 1) To make my camcorder to embed the info so it would turn up automaticly. I didn't manage that. 2) To download software to fix my problem. Downloaded DVDate. That program only work with .avi-files. .avi-files are big! Since i don't have room for my home movies in .avi-format, this solution didn't work for me either. My question: Does anybody know how i can get time and date showing on a .wmv-file? Tilda P.S.     - Burning .mswmm file to DVD I have created a movie with pictures, music, and banners in Movie Maker 5.1. The file extension it is saved under is ".mswmm". However, I can't burn it to CD or DVD. When I try to burn it to CD it will burn only about half of the pictures, some of the banners, and all the music. When I try to pull the movie into Nero Vision to burn a DVD I get the error message of "unexpected file format". I'm using SmartSound to make a track. It claims that the entire track is
"inserted into Movie Maker" with just a click of the button. My struggles
say "not so". Has anyone been able to get this feature to work? Am I
missing something.
