    - Regarding MM2 Shutsdown Post - 6/12/04 Fixed By mistake, I had converted my wmv file to mpeg2 when I wanted to save it for a VCD. I had saved it into the below mentioned folder. It took some fast fingers and a restart of explorer to delete the file. But, when I got it deleted, ALL program shutdowns for any program I used to access this folder and the Explorer restarts while trying to access this folder are history. Thank You to all those who tried to assist me on this matter. Below is the post on 6/12/04 MM2 shutdown when the file selection window opens after clicking on Import Video. The default window that is opening is \My Documents\My Videos. I only see it open for about 2 seconds then MM2 shutsdown. I found that not only does MM2 shutdown while trying to open \My Documents\My Videos but, Windows Explorer restarts, Windows Media Player shuts down and all other video software. The only exception to this is the Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3 and its bundled programs that came with my DVD burner. So I unistalled the Ulead suite and everything works fine now. Would some one please suggest a DVD software program that will do what the Ulead bundle is supposed to do and NOT conflict with my other programs?     - New to this? sdvideo I have two tapes recorded using a Sony DSR-PD100A camcorder. I also have a xp machine with moviemaker and a svideo cable. I connected the cable to the computer and camera. Started the tape playing. Moviemaker tells me that a video capture device was not detected. Can you tell me all that I have done wrong? Any help on doing it right.     - Suggestions I think it would be a really really good idea to put a DVD burning feature in Windows Movie Maker, or at least a VCD feature. It would be nice if you could make professional menus with moving buttons and backgrounds and background music, and be able to burn in onto a DVD.     - Audio out of sync Transfering VHS tapes to DVD, the capture is done with a ATI TV Wonder card. Having trouble when I burn a dvd after editing the movie that the audio is out of sync with the video, maybe about a second.     - HELP TRYING TO BURN MM2 MOVIE TO DVD Hello, I have read a lot of posts from PapaJohn when helping Tiffany's issue. I to am having an issue close to hers. But, I am helping my mother-in-law with a 41 minute slide show of pictures. For some reason I am not able to "save as" then rename the file with a (AV, WMV ect..) It puts the WSWMM extension on it. I am unable to get it to play at all. She is using Sonic My DVD and has burned movies in the past, as I have assisted her in this. However, this time it isn't working at all. It starts to convert and gives an error message that the file is in use by another program. Nothing is open at all, I even looked in the processes and nothing that I could see was running associated with MM2. It also stated something about the log file. The kicker is, it is for a wedding in two weeks. Tonight I was going to uninstall the Sonic My DVD and try reinstalling it to see if that will work at all. Any help would be great!     - Captured Video and Playback Quality Group, I'm using a Sony DV Camera Model DCR-HC40 with a USB cable, MM2 with XP Home as a platform. The capture video appears like the pixels are off, the color is in shades of gray but the audio is clear. After processing through MM2 the playback in Media Play, Real Player and DivX Player is the same poor quality. I have tried increasing the resolution on the computer to no effect and changing the configuration in the capture wizard to no effect.     - Audio and Video I have a problem that when saving my video... the percentages goes at a slow rate, then all the sudden it speeds up, sounds great, but no... when you go to watch the video the video stops after a certain number of clips, but the audio keeps going.     - MM2 problem identified (I think) Last week I wrote about a problem (clash)with a USB TV Tuner and Moviemaker 2. After installing te USB TV Tuner software MM2 would load and then as quickly disappear (close) again. I tried lots of very helpful advise from this group including renaming codec files, but none of this resolved the problem. Over the weekend I reload my entire (XP) operating system and al of my various software. Then I reinstalled the USB TV Tuner hardware and software (a little at a time) while testing the stability of MM2. All was OK until I installed another package that ships with the TV Tuner, which is apparantly required to 'grab' images etc. After installing WinProducer 3 Vers. 3.1B001.34C00, Moviemaker 2 stopped working as described above. It would appear that WinProducer replaces a component used by MM2 which causes the problem. I don't have the knowledge required to dig any further, but thought that if someone else where to strike a similar problem this might be of some use to them. By the way, my USB TV Tuner works apart from an error message everytime I start it saying that WinProducer is required to be available for loading at the same time.     - Movie too large for DVD? Maybe I just don't yet understand DVD burning yet. I have a 1.23GB wmv movie, edited with MM2, authored with Sonic MyDVD demo (until I find the software that works for me). It became 300MB too large to fit on a 4.7GB DVD. So I had to save the image to hard drive, use DVD Shrink, then use a demo version of Nero to burn to DVD. Way too much software involved for what seemed to be a simple process.     - MM2 and Networks I did an overnight test of Movie Maker's 'network awareness' and it worked great. My laptop is my primary movie making computer. It had 9 GB free and I rendered a 12.9 GB DV-AVI file. I tie into my home network with a wireless connection. By putting the source files, the project file, MM2's temporary files, and the saved DV-AVI movie all on the hard drive of one of my desktop computers, I was able to use the laptop to make the project and save the one hour movie without using any of it's free disk space. I have a digital video camcorder and would like to put my collection of holidays etc, onto my pc and then to a disc that I can view on a DVD player. New to this so I havent got a clue where to begin. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

It's along subject in one go, so briefly. Connect the cam via firewire
(ieee1394 / i-link) to the pc. Movie Maker is easy to follow, so use that to
capture - edit and save teh movie lastly as a dv-avi. You then need other
software to convert the avi file to an mpeg2 for the dvd disc, some should
have come with your dvd writer. Check www.dvdrhelp.com to see if your dvd
player is compatible with what discs.
