I made a movie with WMM and the file extenstion is .MSWMM. I believe it might
have been an older version of WMM. The problem is I have 5.1 and it tells me
when I try to import the following:

.MSWMM is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows
Movie Maker.

How is this possible when it was made with the program? Any ideas or do I
need to delete that file and start all over again?

Did you try opening the folder the .mswmm
project file is saved in and double click it?
It should launch Movie Maker.

Yes I have, that is when WMM gives me the unsupported pop up also. Be it by
importing or by playing, WMM doesn't seem to recognize it's own file
extention.

You cannot "Import" a .mswmm file.

All you have to do is open the folder
the file is saved in and double left click it.
This will launch Movie Maker.

If you must open the file from within
Movie Maker...go to...File / Open Project...
browse to the .mswmm file.
