    - Saving to a DV Camcorder I tried saving my movie that I created in Windows Movie Maker back to my tape on my DV Camcorder, and during the saving and viewing of the movie I noticed that there were a lot of glitches/ pauses in my tape.     - Jerky movie after downloading I am trying to get started on making dvds from my downloaded minidv files. I am running a Pentium 3 800 Mhz with an external 250 GB hd using Movie Maker. When viewed after successfully downloading the video it appears jerky. I even burned a VCD and it also was jerky. Am I wasting my time with the slower processor?     - 8mm to DVD I made a movie using imported 8mm home movie footage and adding music. It says I don't have enough HD space (14g free) to save it as DV-AVI. The movie is 2 hours long. I can save it to an external HD, how is it then supposed to fit on a DVD? MMM says the movie is 28560 MB. Can I use a program like DVDDecrypt to compress it? or possibly use a different format.     - Some parts not playing- please help! Hi. I would really appreciate someone helping me with this because i'm about to lose my mind! I've been trying to make this video using mostly wmv files& MPG files. Now i've made videos using WMM a MILLION times & never did I have this problem. I'd put some clips on there, and then when I would go to watch it back, either the sound won't play or it will freeze on one shot of the video, but the line would keep moving like its playing. Unfortunately -- I am still in a holding pattern and may just break down and buy a Mac or a new Digital Video Recorder - in the meantime I have tapes of great family memories that I will need to take to a professional. : ( This is rather discouraging.     - DVD won't play Hoping someone can shed some light here.... I am creating a 'movie' using still photos with background music and need to burn to DVD. I've read much of what's out here for tips, but am still having problems getting the DVD to play. I am using Win XP, MM2, Sonic My DVD Here are my steps: 1. My Movie Maker 2 file (.mswmm) is complete, I choose 'Save to My Computer' in the Task Pane. 2. I choose DV-AVI (NTSC) as the movie setting. Click Ok, the computer does its thing. 3. Go to Sonic MyDVD, click get movies. Import the .avi file just created by Movie Maker. 4. When I preview the movie in Sonic, it's fine. Then I click burn, it goes through the encoding process and after about 15 minutes it spits the DVD out and says 'complete.' However, when I place this DVD in my DVD player (hooked to my TV), it just shows a disk with a question mark next to it. I also tried it in a DVD player at work and it says 'bad disk." Thinking the actual disk was bad, I tried again, but it still didn't work. I have also tried burning both DVD-R and DVD+R and both have the same results. I'm using Maxell brand. Can anybody please help? As far as I can tell, I'm following the steps properly, but it just doesn't work! This is for an anniversary party this weekend and I'm stuck! Thank you!     - TIMELINE FREEZE/WMM SHUT DOWN AND SAVING PROBLEM Help very welcome with 2 problems: 1 Timeline freezes, seemingly at random and I have to shut down and reopen, often every 5 mins or so. Or I get message saying WMM has encountered a problem and has to shut down. I am importing Quicktime files from my digital camera, converting to .wmv with Digital Media Converter for editing in WMM. Movies are less than 3 mins duration with a few transitions, titles and credits, and an audio/music track. 2 When I save either to hard disk or CD, movie plays back in psychedelic colours, as if given a special effect, rather than real colours.     - Reloading MM2 Hi, it's necessary for me to reload my OS (Windows XP - Media Center) and restore applications back to factory defaults. I'm afraid of losing work I did in MM2.     - AVI Compression and Quality Hi All I am trying to put together a demo for a trade-show which will consist of a movie (WMF) produced by WMM. The movie will play continuously using Windows Media Player in full screen mode. I am using a freeware tool called CamStudio which allows me to capture screen activity (region or full screen) and save it to an AVI file. I am doing this in 'logical sections' so I have multiple AVI files. In WMM I insert each AVI clip I as well as some still images with a graphic and some text to create my storyboard/movie. Seems a simple requirement but I am having serious quality problems. When I view the AVI files in CamStudio's internal viewer the resolution/quality matches what I originally saw on the screen during the capture process. Similarly when I view the AVI in Windows Media Player the resolution/quality once again matches the original screen contents. When I view the imported AVI clip in WMM the quality is disgusting it is the same even when I create the movie to hard disk (with highest quality selected). I have a 3.0GHz Intel with 2GB RAM, 256MB nVidia GEForce 6600GT graphics adapter and a 250GB dedicated 'scratch drive'. In CamStudio I am selecting quality of 100% and have tried the following compression codecs (Iam unable to set no compression).     - audio problems when capturing fron an analog camera Can someone explain how one can select the sound card stereo mix output as the audio source when capturing a home movie from a composite/ s-video analog capture card ( only has S-video or composite ports on it). I don't have the luxury of a second camera with firewire passthrough capabilities. I have read where one can opt to select the sound card as the audio source with a capture card like the one described so that the analog camera can have the audio outputs fed into the sound card line input and the video input through the capture card.     - Movie Maker takes up 100% as soon as I drag a clip to the storyboa I have been using MM2 since it introduced. Recently, it started to feel very sluggish. I am using MM2 v2.1, the latest one. I found out that as soon as I drag any movie clip (in wmv format) to the story board, CPU usage will jump and stay in 100% all the time, causing the sluggish. When that occured, if I played the clip from the storyboard for a brief moment and stopped, sometime the CPU usage would go back to idle. Any clue what's going on, codec conflict?     - Can a USB to Firewire cable tranfer DV from Camcorder to PC? My camcorder has a firewire port, but my computer has USB 2.0 only. I heard USB 2.0 has fast connection up to 480M/sec. I found a lot of USB to Firewire cable on ebay, which has USB on one end and firewire 4 pin at other end, and it claim can connect the camcorder to the PC. Any advice on this?     - Windows Movie Maker causes error upon loading Until a few days ago, I have been using WMM a lot, with good results. Now when I load it, I immediately get a message that reads something like, "Encountered a problem and needs to close." It happens every time, so I can no longer access old projects or create new ones. I tried to download a new copy of WMM from the Internet, but that didn't work. I even tried restoring the WMM folder from a system backup of a couple of weeks ago, and that didn't help either. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!!     - program crashes too much - why? hello, just trying this program. everytime we do anything on it, it is gonna crash in about 3 minutes. doesnt matter what we are doing, adding still photos, making effects, doing captions, playing the audio without ANY video whatsoever....its just crash crash crash! We have not put any actual video on it at all (moving pictures) what other video programs if any are similar to movie player?     - Switching Audio Sources How do you switch from audio from music to audio from video within the same project? I have it all mapped out in the timeline where I start with a picture and audio/music then I fade into video. But I can't switch the audio source. I either get ALL audio from music which is only the first 10 seconds or ALL audio from video which doesn't start until 10 seconds into the project.     - Further to Unable to save movie to DV Tape Post Have reinstalled video editor S/W. Reinstalled all Canon S/W for the camera. Reinstalled IEEE 1394 Firewire drivers. Enlarged disk partitions and separated OS from project files even more. Increased pagefiles. Found evidence that MS had done an update to some of the files mentioned in some of the capture posts here, so also went through the procedure of rolling back to SP1 drivers and renaming cabs. No Luck. Tried using restore, but the limitations on number of restore points, and MS's pension for creating checkpoints after checkpoints, the previous restore points where it was working were not available to try that either. Tried two different firewire cards in each of two different slots of the PC as well as three different known good cables. Any suggestions would be a help. At the very least rest assured that next time I do updates ( always manually) I will know that I have to go through anything important to me to test and verify that everything is working right after, " before" the infamous automatic works right out of the box, update and restore processes trash something I need to fall back to. Possibly a more detailed list of all the modules or drivers that an update will affect would be a help in deciding whether one wants to proceed with it.     - Plain English pleaseeee I am trying to make a CD using various pictures that have been scanned from family photo albums, copied from digital cameras and some from internet. My project size is 2.83 MB and is 14 minutes long with no audio. I could not get this to save using default settings thru movie maker kept getting different error messages. I saved using the AV/DVI and now the file is 2.8 GB. I was wanting to copy to CD's and the file is now too large to copy. I need to know what to do now.     - Can't capture video using external capture device I am trying to capture some VCR tapes I have unto my computer using Movie Maker ,,.. VCR is set up through external capture device(ATI theatrix 550 pro) tuner capture card(external adapter),..evertime i click capture video in Movie Maker,.error message pops up stating program is not responding,need to shut down,,.     - Importing a Video from My Muvees Folder I create videos/movies from my camera's software (Picture Project) and save it in My Muvees for me to view in WMP. To share with my family I host it to a web server but the quality when viewed is not good. My videos are 5-10 minutes in length(using hundreds of photos), too large too email. I was told Windows Movie Maker will support thse large files to email so my family can view in WMP, so I imported to Movie Maker but only 1:19 of the 6 minute video imports.     - Unknown Error while saving movie to CD When I try to save my WMM Movie to CD it goes to about 80% then says "Unknown Error" and it doesn't complete the save. It gives me no indication about what the error is so i don't know where to begin to fix it. I've tried using the different options in the save movie options.     - video & audio static upon capture from Sony handycam I am having a problem on a laptop computer when I go to capture video. I do not have the problem on other (laptop & desktop) computers with the exact same hardware (camera, firewire card, cable). When I go to capture video there is a ton of audio & video static. I have troubleshooted to death with Gateway, even sent my computer back to them convinced there was an issue with the firewire card slot. They returned it to me claiming there was nothing wrong with the cardslot. Gateway is suggesting there is an issue with the software. I have a new Sony digital handy cam, I am using a new Belkin 1394 firewire card and cable. I am using the DV-AVI setting (I've also tried other settings, but get the same static) to capture.     - Unable to SAVE movie to Mini DV tape Movie created as DV AVI file NTSC 720x480 saves as disk file and allows editing in a project using it as a clip. Saving to Canon DV camcorder Mini DV tape does not work. It sets up everything, including putting the camcorder in REC mode. The tape advances in REC mode but no movie is output to DV camera or preview monitor. Captures work OK using same camera and IEEE1394 card. The problem exists on both a Win XP Dell laptop as well as a Win 2K desktop. Both have plenty of memory and disk space and pagefiles set to 3 X RAM (was 2X RAM) but neither setting here makes any difference. Other NLE programs in these boxes experience exactly the same problem; ie UNA to save to a DV tape. Although recorder is controlled properly video/audio is not output topreview monitor or camcorder tape. On a third PC with more NLE's installed a similar problem exists, except that one of them actually does work properly to save to tape; the others Pinnacle 9 & 10.5 Plus, Movie Maker 2 , AVID FreeDV and Ulead VS 7.0 don't but Ulead VS 10 does. This leads me to believe their is a common OS file or library that is corrupt of changed that apparently needs repair . Any Suggestions ???? Disks are dual 250 GB drives and dual 80's in the second desktop so space and memory are not a problem.     - I need help asap about using music with movie maker my question is this: I am putting music with pictures in movie maker. then i will put this on a web site so my firends can see it. can the music be stolen in the movie maker format? In other words, can someone take that audio and burn a cd with it and pirate the music? I sure would appreciate anyone helping me with this.     - Video capture results in too fast replay & records noise back to t When I capture video the result is very fast play. I have turned off the filters in Movie Maker but didn't correct. I also tried to capture in different modes. What's really strange is when I repeat this process a few times my original Hi 8 tape ends up with background noise. I thought tape may have been bad so I tried another tape and ended up with same result. I have a Toshiba Qosmio (Centrino) and a Sony Digital 8 HandyCam. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. My son just performed his first show (Rock band) and I wanted to post clips. My only result is fast (probably double speed or so) and now my original tape has noise on it and when I capture it records with noise. BTW, anyway of getting noise off of original tape. I am trying to convert my DVD's to WMV format (using ImTOO DVD to WMV
Converter) for use in my Windows Movie Maker (version 2.1.4026.0) and have
done so successfully in the past, but now I'm getting error reports and even
my entire system freezing up so that I have to restart. I had Windows Media
player 10 installed and the error reports named this file: wmvdmoe2.dll. I
updated to Windows Media player 11 and this file was named: wmvencod.dll. My
conversions keep failing and my Movie Maker runs fine while editing the
videos, but fails to save them.
