I have tried to install Movie Maker 2.0 on my computer, but I can't find it anywhere. The install process seems to work fine, but there are no icons. Nothing is in the start menu. A search for "movie maker" brings up only sample movies. Am I missing something??.

start | programs | accesories | windows movie maker

or could be

start | programs | accesories | entertainment | windows movie maker

or

c:\Program Files\Movie Maker

and make the shortcut yourself (or see if it is in fact installed)

I have the same problem trying to install from the CD. I just looked for the files per the other persons suggestion, but it looks like the file never installed. I'm wondering if I should remove Movie Maker first before installing Movie Maker 2.

No need to try uninstalling it... just do the new install over the previous
one. Check the Problem Solving > MM2 Will Not Install or Run page of my site
for some info..
