    - Moved files and now movie won't play - please help!!! I am working with Windows Movie Maker. It seems that anytime we try to move the movie (and clips) to a different location from the one in which it was created, it will not run (Xs replace the individual clips). It seems that the program is still trying to find the files from their original source (e.g., if we move the files from the C: to the H: including all of the clips in the movie, Movie Maker is still trying to run each clip from the C:).     - DVD Burning I tried to burn a DVD and got a failure. I used a Maxell DVD+RW "Up to 4X, 4.7GB 2 hrs." I tried again using Maxell DVD-R "Up to 8X, 4.7GB 2 hrs." This was successful. I this because of the "4X" vs "8X?" or did it have something to do with the +RW vs -R? I asked Nero but it takes a week or two for them to answer....     - video clip confusion I am trying to select clips from a video in order to use them in a powerpoint presentation. The problem is, MM2 picks the clips for me when I import the video. Is there a way for me to select my OWN clips from the video and save them individually for use in the powerpoint? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on a program that would do so?     - MPEG2 Not Windows Movie Maker choked when I imported an MPEG2 file. So I search Microsoft's support and found the note about WMM not be able to import MPEG2 files even if Windows Media Player could play them. It suggested that Windows Media Encoder would be able to convert the file. I downloaded and installed WME. I tried using the wizard but when I clicked on finish WME just disappeared. I then skipped the wizard and tried manually defining the input and conversion. When I hit apply WME hung. It would not repaint. It did respond to the minimize button but it would not close. When I tried using Task Manager to kill it the dialog box that asks if you want to send a report about why you had to kill a program popped up but WME didn't go away. It wasn't using any CPU cycles so I just minimized it until I could log out and reboot. The file was created on the same machine with Video Redo Plus editing a clip. I just wanted to convert it to an WMV file to put on a web site. I can run it through Nero first to convert to an MPEG1 but that shouldn't be necessary.     - Save as .avi not dv-avi All the posts about avi files seem to relate to the dv-avi for use with camcorders. I just want to save my movie as an .avi file for storage on my CPU (without it being 40G). Is this possible? I have other feature length movies which are at most 1.5G and yet when I tried to join two 714M clips it was going to be nearly 40G to save as a dv-avi.     - firewire and WMM Hi, I'm new to WMM and to camcorders, and video in general. I have a brand new WinXP pro SP2 systyem. I just purchased a Panasonic PV-GS150--used. It appears to be in good shape. And I can record and transfer the video to WMM via usb just fine. But I also got a DV-firewire cable. When I try to transfer my video to WMM with the firewire connection, WMM says "A video capture device was not detected...." I called Panasonic techsupport and they told me that they didn't think the problem was in the camera but rather in the sdoftware. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Is WMM capable of capturing video over a DV-firewire cable?     - Quick time files. Can I convert them so MM will accept? Sorry, think I put this in wrong thread by mistake. I have done some cinema 4D stuff (3d animation) for college. I wanted to edit and add music in Movie Maker. Despite assurances from lecturer that this was a universal format, the files that play in quick time wont go into Movie Maker.     - No sound capturing AV from VCR Hi, I am new to Movie Maker and am becoming frustrated! Running XP MCE 2005 with Hauppauge 150MCE PCI card. I have connected a VCR to the AV inputs on the 150. Using the Hauppauge apps I can view and hear a playing tape. Using Movie Maker I can see the video but there is no sound. I have checked obvious things like volume control and worked through a lot of combinations of options in WMM.     - Dell Inspiron, external dell tv tuner, want to capture but not... I have a Dell 9300 (inspiron) with their external tv tuner, and media center. I get the video from my sat no problem through the system, but want to capture some video through this device. I get the error many others have noted: "Video Device is currently in use, yada yada" Will not movie maker do this for me? I figured it was simply another device.     - **WMM FORMAT** Finally at last. . .a breakthrough. I would like to thank everyone for their input. I got most of all my needed information from other people's post's. Thank you guys so much too! Guess i got lucky and ended up on a Ulead site and downloaded Ulead videostudio 9. WAA-LAA! I am the proud owner of 2, 1 hour plus videos burned to DVD disc that worked on both my home players. My process was importing all my footage into WMM. . .edited into a movie. . .saved to my hard drive, via high quality(large)video format. . .picked up finished movie project by Uleads videostudio 9 for final edit and burn. "whew" Exhausting, but i am way stoked man! Now if i can get some input on how to manipulate the burning process to where it doesnt take to long. Both of my projects combined took like 18 hours to burn. Did i hear by lowering the bit rate or something like that? Do you lose quality?     - Trying to locate saved Credits I have worked on a project and added credits at the end. This took me a lot of time as the credits were many and I was very pleased with the results. I have a lot of similar projects and would like to locate this particular project (cannot remember its name) so I could use (or copy) the same credits again without having to re-create the whole lot.     - Line In Doesn't Appear Anymore I used WMM for months, sending audio through line in and saving it as a wma file. I even wrote myself a word document listing the steps I needed to take to do the recording. Now when I start it up and try to record (via the narration recording feature) it doesn't list line in as a recording option on the appropriate sound device. I have no doubt I'm doing the recording process same as I always did with all the same choices made along the way.     - I have a mess on my hands 2 The Continue saga with my mess. I went back to my movie removed video effects and some transitions. This seems to help the video or sound from freezing to some degree. I found that if I delete the clip where the problem occurs and then place it back from the video clips on my collections that the problem stops. Can anyone tell me why this would be so?     - File size I'm really confused on how to put a movie up on the web so that someone can link and open. I have a movie that is just over 3 minutes long. Saving it to Video for broadband at 540 kps results in a .wmv file of 12,812 kb. I've tried to upload this to my Earthlink host several times, and it just won't upload. How do I extract audio from a video clip, for use elsewhere in my movie?     - WMM hangs after X MB usage Why will MovieMaker just hang indefenitely after capturing approx 25 images (<20Mb), or after approx 10 minutes? I already divide my albums into portions of no more than 25 foto's; frequently less. When I use WMM I save every 2 images in order not to lose work. And even then, WMM will just stop responding after -let's say- 5 minutes of work. Only remedy is abort job via task manager and start all over. I use XP HE SP2, 512MB ram (usage 250-330Mb though) AMD 1800Mhz processor. So specs are OK, program is not. Please bear with me as I have no idea what I am doing yet...I am trying to import several different video projects into Windows Movie Maker (to make a reel out of finished videos) and each one I try has got no file to choose when the import file box pops up.     - Cant save Movies correctly, please help me Hallo all together. I have a Problem with the Windows Movie Maker, especially with saving movies. When i want to save a movie on my computer, or a CD, it goes well to about 30% and then the proceed gets much faster. The result of that is, that my 6minutes and 40 seconds Video only shows about 2 minutes and then its over.     - Can't find temp file to clear hard drive space I changed the temp file location and while I was capturing video from my camcorder, there was a glitch with the tape, so I did not save the resultant file when I was prompted to. Now I have about 14G of space that is being 'held' by the temp file, even though there is no file in that folder I had changed the temp directory to (as a matter of face, I deleted the folder and then emptied trash). No but you can import the BMP's into Photo Story 3 and quite quickly and
easily turn them into a WMV file.
