I recorded my baby laughs with Audacity and exported the file as a .wav. It
plays no problem on Media Player or Creative Sound Player. When I try to
import it into MM, I get an error saying the codec is missing. I then
exported it as a mp3 and it worked fine. All programs, codec's, XP, and
drivers up to date...any ideas?

In the File > Preferences > File Formats - there are 5 options for WAV
types... I just did on using the 16 bit PCM option and it imported fine...
maybe you're using one of the others?

Unfortunately my version (5.1 or 2.1?) does not have a File > Preferences >
File Formats. I do have a Tools > Options but can't find where to change
any setting for .wav. Is this your version? Am I missing
something...thanks!

I'm referring to the setting options in Audacity, not Movie Maker...
