    - Capturing problem Hi, I have a capturing problem on my machine with capturing from a DV camera. The problem occurs when capturing in 'Windows Movie Maker', the machine will remotely access the camera and begin playback but the preview Window appears to have a mosaic effect on it. The captured footage has the same fault. The system is using Service Pack 2. I have also hooked up another hard drive to this machine containing Windows XP Service Pack 1, this works perfectly and the fault evident in Service Pack 2 is not evident here. It seems to be an SP2 issue. Can anyone offer any ideas as to the possible problem?     - fading music....not working? i am making a movie/music video to a song in windows movie maker. i would like to fade the music out at a certain point to hear some audio from the video, and then resume at the same point in the song after it's finished. the problem i'm having is when i cut the music at the point i want it and click "fade out", and then i play it, the music first fades out and then a quick noise of sound returns before the silence. i have done this fading music thing before in my movie and it worked fine. i tried moving the point where the music stops and it does the same thing....please help me, i really don't know what to do! i need help asap, this project needs to be done soon!! thanks.... carissa Tag: Hard drive camcorders Tag: 54591

    - MOVIE MAKER & DVD TO WMV CONVERTER I am trying to convert my DVD's to WMV format (using ImTOO DVD to WMV Converter) for use in my Windows Movie Maker (version 2.1.4026.0) and have done so successfully in the past, but now I'm getting error reports and even my entire system freezing up so that I have to restart. I had Windows Media player 10 installed and the error reports named this file: wmvdmoe2.dll. I updated to Windows Media player 11 and this file was named: wmvencod.dll.     - Jerky movie after downloading I am trying to get started on making dvds from my downloaded minidv files. I am running a Pentium 3 800 Mhz with an external 250 GB hd using Movie Maker. When viewed after successfully downloading the video it appears jerky. I even burned a VCD and it also was jerky. Am I wasting my time with the slower processor?     - 8mm to DVD I made a movie using imported 8mm home movie footage and adding music. It says I don't have enough HD space (14g free) to save it as DV-AVI. The movie is 2 hours long. I can save it to an external HD, how is it then supposed to fit on a DVD? MMM says the movie is 28560 MB. Can I use a program like DVDDecrypt to compress it? or possibly use a different format.     - Some parts not playing- please help! Hi. I would really appreciate someone helping me with this because i'm about to lose my mind! I've been trying to make this video using mostly wmv files& MPG files. Now i've made videos using WMM a MILLION times & never did I have this problem. I'd put some clips on there, and then when I would go to watch it back, either the sound won't play or it will freeze on one shot of the video, but the line would keep moving like its playing.     - DVD won't play Hoping someone can shed some light here.... I am creating a 'movie' using still photos with background music and need to burn to DVD. I've read much of what's out here for tips, but am still having problems getting the DVD to play. I am using Win XP, MM2, Sonic My DVD Here are my steps: 1. My Movie Maker 2 file (.mswmm) is complete, I choose 'Save to My Computer' in the Task Pane. 2. I choose DV-AVI (NTSC) as the movie setting. Click Ok, the computer does its thing. 3. Go to Sonic MyDVD, click get movies. Import the .avi file just created by Movie Maker. 4. When I preview the movie in Sonic, it's fine. Then I click burn, it goes through the encoding process and after about 15 minutes it spits the DVD out and says 'complete.' However, when I place this DVD in my DVD player (hooked to my TV), it just shows a disk with a question mark next to it. I also tried it in a DVD player at work and it says 'bad disk." Thinking the actual disk was bad, I tried again, but it still didn't work. I have also tried burning both DVD-R and DVD+R and both have the same results. I'm using Maxell brand. Can anybody please help? As far as I can tell, I'm following the steps properly, but it just doesn't work! This is for an anniversary party this weekend and I'm stuck! Thank you!     - TIMELINE FREEZE/WMM SHUT DOWN AND SAVING PROBLEM Help very welcome with 2 problems: 1 Timeline freezes, seemingly at random and I have to shut down and reopen, often every 5 mins or so. Or I get message saying WMM has encountered a problem and has to shut down. I am importing Quicktime files from my digital camera, converting to .wmv with Digital Media Converter for editing in WMM. Movies are less than 3 mins duration with a few transitions, titles and credits, and an audio/music track. 2 When I save either to hard disk or CD, movie plays back in psychedelic colours, as if given a special effect, rather than real colours.     - AVI Compression and Quality Hi All I am trying to put together a demo for a trade-show which will consist of a movie (WMF) produced by WMM. The movie will play continuously using Windows Media Player in full screen mode. I am using a freeware tool called CamStudio which allows me to capture screen activity (region or full screen) and save it to an AVI file. I am doing this in 'logical sections' so I have multiple AVI files. In WMM I insert each AVI clip I as well as some still images with a graphic and some text to create my storyboard/movie. Seems a simple requirement but I am having serious quality problems. When I view the AVI files in CamStudio's internal viewer the resolution/quality matches what I originally saw on the screen during the capture process. Similarly when I view the AVI in Windows Media Player the resolution/quality once again matches the original screen contents. When I view the imported AVI clip in WMM the quality is disgusting it is the same even when I create the movie to hard disk (with highest quality selected). I have a 3.0GHz Intel with 2GB RAM, 256MB nVidia GEForce 6600GT graphics adapter and a 250GB dedicated 'scratch drive'. In CamStudio I am selecting quality of 100% and have tried the following compression codecs (Iam unable to set no compression).     - audio problems when capturing fron an analog camera Can someone explain how one can select the sound card stereo mix output as the audio source when capturing a home movie from a composite/ s-video analog capture card ( only has S-video or composite ports on it). I don't have the luxury of a second camera with firewire passthrough capabilities. I have read where one can opt to select the sound card as the audio source with a capture card like the one described so that the analog camera can have the audio outputs fed into the sound card line input and the video input through the capture card.     - Movie Maker takes up 100% as soon as I drag a clip to the storyboa I have been using MM2 since it introduced. Recently, it started to feel very sluggish. I am using MM2 v2.1, the latest one. I found out that as soon as I drag any movie clip (in wmv format) to the story board, CPU usage will jump and stay in 100% all the time, causing the sluggish. When that occured, if I played the clip from the storyboard for a brief moment and stopped, sometime the CPU usage would go back to idle. Any clue what's going on, codec conflict?     - Windows Movie Maker causes error upon loading Until a few days ago, I have been using WMM a lot, with good results. Now when I load it, I immediately get a message that reads something like, "Encountered a problem and needs to close." It happens every time, so I can no longer access old projects or create new ones. I tried to download a new copy of WMM from the Internet, but that didn't work.     - Further to Unable to save movie to DV Tape Post Have reinstalled video editor S/W. Reinstalled all Canon S/W for the camera. Reinstalled IEEE 1394 Firewire drivers. Enlarged disk partitions and separated OS from project files even more. Increased pagefiles. Found evidence that MS had done an update to some of the files mentioned in some of the capture posts here, so also went through the procedure of rolling back to SP1 drivers and renaming cabs. No Luck. Tried using restore, but the limitations on number of restore points, and MS's pension for creating checkpoints after checkpoints, the previous restore points where it was working were not available to try that either. Tried two different firewire cards in each of two different slots of the PC as well as three different known good cables. Any suggestions would be a help. At the very least rest assured that next time I do updates ( always manually) I will know that I have to go through anything important to me to test and verify that everything is working right after, " before" the infamous automatic works right out of the box, update and restore processes trash something I need to fall back to.     - Plain English pleaseeee I am trying to make a CD using various pictures that have been scanned from family photo albums, copied from digital cameras and some from internet. My project size is 2.83 MB and is 14 minutes long with no audio. I could not get this to save using default settings thru movie maker kept getting different error messages.     - Can't capture video using external capture device I am trying to capture some VCR tapes I have unto my computer using Movie Maker ,,..     - Unknown Error while saving movie to CD When I try to save my WMM Movie to CD it goes to about 80% then says "Unknown Error" and it doesn't complete the save. HDD cams do record as Mpeg2 so it's very unlikely MM will work with it.
If encore does not see a blank disc then I'd check the drive is ok, does
another app recognise it to burn with, check for encore updates from Adobe,
check it's the right sort of media +/-, change makes.
