    - Video footage not playing in preview window When I open up a video file for editing there is no footage in the preview window. Instead the video opens up in an ActiveWindow seperate from the Movie Maker program. This makes it harder to edit as I have to switch between windows to pause, play and split the video footage.     - Wont completley burn my whole movie I have gone through 6 blank cd-r disc. My movie is 296 mb I have scanned in over 50 pics and music from my wedding. The first fews times I tried to put it on a disc I had a thing pop up that said my vm is low so I called gateway and they changed my vm to 512 so I burned it and it acted like it completed then I went to play it on medi player and it only completed 155mb I have tried to slow down my burner and it still only burns part of this movie. I am so frustrated I have been working on this for 2 months calling gateway trying to figure this out Please can someone help me get this on a disc so that I can pass this out .     - Unable to capture video I have a Panasonic Digital Palmcorder MultiCam Camcorder, Model #PV-DV402 and have Windows XP Home Edition on my computer. I am using a firewire card/cable to capture video from the camera. However, when I click on "capture video" I get an error saying Movie Maker program is not responding.     - audio problem @ Transition continuing Have not resolved this or the Timeline preview, hang/stall run-on, crash problem. Did find something the other night which I would like some feedback about. Have made sure the system is currently updated with the latest Soft Stuff. Acceleration seems not to affect the problems. Sample video downloads from Microsoft work fine until transitions are added. Disabled every listed Codec through Properties. Enabled each singlely until I found that the Microsoft PCM Converter is the only listed Codec used to allow audio for MM2. Disabling every other listed Codec, while PCM is solely enabled, does not resolve problems in previewing the timeline. Interestngly, when PCM is disabled previewing the timeline is possible without any hang, stall, or audio sputtering run-on problems. The difficulty now is, in this mode there will be no audio to see if the audio drops out at transitions where it did before in a saved DV tape and where the Timeline preview was also having trouble. By The Way: There is a comment by someone early on at the PapaJohn site that indicates there is a problem in this MICROSOFT PCM converter though not indicating what that is or how to fix it. Any One with any ideas? ...I have, thus far, tried most of what is on PapaJohn's site, conferring here also. And this may be a separate issue, but I notice the problem with the Timeline preview, the way it ceases to see the mouse input to pause when the video stalls while the audio runs-on intermittent is reminiscent of the ongoing Scroll bar issue in IE6 and the faulty MSHTML.DLL file.     - movie not playing when distributed.... I made a movie on a Windows XP machine with music and pictures. I tested the CD's on three computers... 1 - Win XP Media Player 9.0 2 - Win 2K Media Player 9.0 3 - Win 2K Media Player 7.0 It ran fine on all three. I then distributed the CD's.     - MM can not save If I want to save my project in a file or to disc the MM fills the swap file till 1,66 GB and then the CPU Load falls from 100 % to 2-10 %. After that the progressbeam goes very fast to 100% and finish the file.     - wedding movie problems...please help! I just sent a message about by blurry photos...my next problem or question is...is there a way to save this movie so that we can see it on our DVD player (someone told me that a VCD format would work). Can I save my movie in a VCD format, or do I need to buy a DVD creator software, and buy a DVD burner so that I can show my movie on a DVD player at our wedding reception? Remember I have about 100 photos--all scanned in--with music. ALSO Remember....I am very new at this, but was very impressed with how easy the Movie maker was to use.     - blurry photos... This is exactly the question that I have. I scanned my pictures, about 100 of them for a wedding video of my daughter and her fiance growing up. But many pictures are blurry, when playing them back on the full screen.     - my dvd deluxe 5 will not capture video i am using an analog cam hooked up to my computer running through hauppauge which will let me capture my video in mm2 but when i installed my dvd 5 it will allow me to get the movie from my video file and burn it but it will not let me capture video because it is not recognizing my capture device . tried everything i can think of any suggestions.     - No Fire in my Wire... Please help! I just got an Agere (FW323-06 Chip Set) 1394 Host Controller Card and I cant get my new WinXP (Emachines C2684) to recognize it at all. After installing it into the PCI slot (I have tried all 3) WinXP is suppose to recognize the Plug and Play card but nothing happened... as if no card/s installed. So... I tried using the "Add hardware" but it dose not recognize any new hardware and asks me if I have already installed it. - I choose "yes" then select "add new hardware device". - Again it finds nothing so... - I continue and select "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers" and I get "(unable to find any drivers for this device)" Any suggestions??     - Lockup Part 2 Hey, Everyone, thanks for the responses so far. But alas, I'm wearing the "o-fer collar." I have adjusted the page settings and gone through, in desperation, and renamed every .ax file that I found. (I tried each one before I went to the next.) No luck. Any other ideas? Would a uninstall and reinstall help? Uninstall might be fun since it is not listed in my coontrol panel to remove. If all else fails, hate to ask, but any recomendations on other software?     - MM2 audio buzzing When I create a DV_AVI file using MM2, with wav audio input, the output avi audio is very strange. It seems like someone knocked the peaks off of the base line or maybe smooshed them down. It creates a sort of metal buzzing noise when played back. The source wav file is fine.     - Playing timeline Whenever I try to play the full timeline back in MM2, it plays the sound but doesn't display the clips. However, it will play the sound and pictures for individual clips. The timeline only has a couple of very very short clips, so there shouldn't be a length/size of clip issue.     - PappaJohn? I see a reference to PappaJohn's web site. Could someone supply me witht he site addy as I am having problems with MM2. The main problem at the moment is saving a movie. When I click save and give film a name MM then starts to save the file and either gets a small pecentage done and then stops (MM freezes though computer is still workable) or the time indicated goes upwards and continues to do so until I bring up task manager to cancel MM. I have previously saved a larger movie, using virtually the same files. The last time I saved a movie was just prior to installing the latest IE accumlative update (issued just a few days ago) Could this be the reason for inabillity to now save?     - How Can I change the file extension? I need some help! I had saved several video files of my wedding ceremony to a CD while I was reformatting my computer. Before I had went through with the formatting, I ensured that the files could play off of the CD (to which they could). So I formatted my hard drive, to which all the original files were deleted. Now, I have the files on CD (with file extensions as .MSWMM) and they now won't play on my Movie Maker. PLLLEEAAASE someone help me! In reading other posts, I have read that you need to save the file in .ASI or .wmv or other extensions.     - emm386.exe on XP I have a small DOS based program that was written for me by a local programmer. It makes use of a Microsoft file called emm386.exe. I used Windows 98 2nd edition and this worked well. I have now installed Windows XP, and the programme does not want to work. It comes up with a message "No EMS driver is installed". I need to use more memmory to get the small (2mb) programme to operate. What can I do with XP to activate the equavalent to emm386.exe, and which gives a DOS programme access to memeory in the PC above 1MB I would appreciate any help in solving this problem, as it seems that Microsoft SA dont have answers, or are too inexperienced with this.     - Program Hangs... All, I have just started using MM2 on a new computer. After many hangs and software restarts, I came here. I see I'm not alone. I went to Papa John's site for the fixes and started down the list. I'm wanting to edit a 45 minute video, by this Saturday. This is what I have done so far to no avail... 1) Did a search on divxaf.ax. Not found on my computer. Is this not good? 2) Changed Hardware Acceleration to 3, still locked up. I have Directx 9b installed. 3) The computer has a Nvidia Geforce MX 440 w/ 64 MB DDR Memory. I ran Windows Update for new drivers for it, but nothing there. (The computer came with XP Home. I believe it should look for these types of updates. I have not had a new computer in 5 years, so I have a lot of catching up...) 4) Ran GSpot v2.21. It shows that there were a couple Arcsoft files missing, but seems ok for MM2 5) The tweak for Nvidia/Xp... I was unable to find on the listed site. May have been moved or I was just missing it. My stupid Movie Maker 2 closes when I add a transition or
a title. For example, I click on the button to have it
fade in to a clip, but before I can click play to see it,
the program disappears without warning or any little box
thingys!!!! What is up with that?!?!?!?!

Hi

I had the same problem and was told to remove the 'Nimo Codec pack'. This
is the cause of it as there is a conflict between codecs. I did this and it
worked fiine.

I have the same problem.. have attempted following various
reinstall procedures with no joy..

I have removed movie maker & {60BFF...} directories whilst
in safe mode, removed several reg. entries pointing to the
movie maker .exe. MM20.msi goes through the motions but
does not fix/install/repair MM2..

I'm not beat yet.. :)

Manged to get moviemk.exe from a friend (.msi would not
reinstall it after my slashing of movie maker through the
reg. etc) Same problem.. it quits when increasing the
brightness.. Then I uninstalled the Nimo codec pack - hey
presto it works.. Still unable to install MM2, but at
least I have something to play with - until I find the
next bug.
