You fail to mention your OS...if you are
running Vista...disregard the following.

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

You may have some codecs installed on your PC that clashed with Movie Maker.

MM2 looks at the registered codecs when it opens a file, checking for the
most appropriate one to use. It goes down a list of 'registered' codecs in
sequence from first to last. When it thinks one will work, it tries it - and,
if it's a poor choice - you get a crash.

If you're still on MM2.0 find the file divxaf.ax and rename it (I suggest
naming it divxaf.ax_ so you can easily rename it back if you need to later),
and then test MM2. You don't need to reboot MM2 or anything to test it.

If you canâ??t find the file try alternately unchecking the Movie Maker
filters at Tools>Options>Compatibility Tab to disable it and then test Movie
Maker. Remember to put check on it when you uncheck the next filter.

Or uninstall programs previously installed that uses codecs. In one of my
experiences I installed Nero Express bundelled with Cyberlink Power DVD,
Power Producer, InCD and Acrobat Reader then I got the crashes. When I
uninstalled Cyberlink Power Producer and all its shared files via Start>All
Programs everything went fine with Movie Maker.

Hope I could help.
