    - Movie maker sound delay Could anyone help me to show me how to seperate the movie with movie maker? I just discover this wonderful software and thought it will make easy for me to seperate the whole movie recording from free-on-air programmes. After clipping out one part of movie( which it took nearly 2 hours to save the file not sure it is right.), I find the voice is delayed than acutul movement of the mouth, not simultanous any more.     - Please can someone help! Cannot burn movie to DVD. Hi, I am actually using cyberlink power director 5 editing software and cannot burn my movie to dvd. I have currently made a number of home movies approx 1 hour in duration with multiple transitions and titles. This movie file is no different however whenver i attempt to burn it to a dvd it appears to stop burning at 11% every time. No error message apperas, just wont go any further. Any ideas.     - Photo Story 3 Hi all. First, let me say that I did a search for my problem, but did not find much that would help. I have WinXP Home, SP-2 installed, all updates installed. 2 months ago I downloaded Photo Story 3, installed it, created several stories, and all worked without a flaw. Now as I open Photo Story, I get to the second window where it asks to "Import Pictures" and there is a message at the top stating that "The File Browser not responding". At this point all I can do is Control>Alt>Delete, to end the Task, it's locked up. Some times it will import 2-3 pictures, and sometimes it will only begin to load one picture before it locks up. I did the Add/Remove, re-installed it, same response. I un-installed it a second time, re-downloaded it, installed the new one, same response. Drive is less than 1/2 full, full meg of memory, and as I say, it worked without a flaw. Windows Movie Maker works great right now. Have I wrecked Photo Story? Could it be a REG edit condition, or perhaps a new WinXP update? Tried to go back and restore to an earlier date, same response. Does Photo Story use an independant Browser of its own?     - Change snapshot's compression level When making snapshots from a movie in MM the JPG image shows significant image compression loss.     - ADDING TWO MOVIES TOGETHER hello, I am making a skateboarding movie and i have a question that i cant solve. In the movie, i made an intro and saved it. Then i opened movie maker again and started on a new timline making the first persons part. Both the intro and first part include movies, pictures, and music. They are both saved as .MSWMM files. I want to open the intro and add the first persons part to the end of the intro to make the movie. but i cannot find a way to open them both and join them together. could you plz help with my problem, thanks....     - Old text appears in title I used the title funtion to make a "title" for a video. I also used the "title function" to create an outro title so I could write a message that would be viewed at the end of my video. The outro message wound up mixing with the "title." I figured the program will not allow you to use the title function twice, and if you do, you will get the results I did, both texts on the "title." So I deleted the outro title, but it still appeared on my "title." I also rewrote the "title" and deleted the outro and I still get the mixed text. What is going on? Why is it happening?     - Blurry Images I transferred a picture slideshow to a DVD successfully, but when I play them on the TV, many of the pictures initially come up blurry and then clear up, particularly when the pictures fade in.     - Image size on TV Playback I recently made a movie with pictures and video. I saved the movie to my external drive as a DV AVI and also a High Quality Video. When I play the movie with Media Player I can see everything exactly the way it looked while editing the movie.     - Lossless video editing with DV-AVI (NTSC) setting (or other) possi I can't seem to figue out why consecutive copies of an AVI file loses either 587 or 588 bytes. Steps taken: 1) Import Original.avi 2) Drag to timeline and save to computer with Copy1.avi name and DV-AVI (NTSC) setting. It is 587 bytes less than Original.avi! 3) Clear everything out. Import Copy1.avi. 4) Drag to timeline and save to computer with Copy2.avi, etc. It is 587 or 588 bytes less than Copy1.avi! I repeated this one more time and it is always 587 or 588 bytes less.     - Saving MM to DVD, copying DVD show to another DVD, it Can be done Having worked 6 months trying to make a DVD slide show with music and 100 slides using WMM, I at last was ready to make my first DVD via USB DVD burner. Unless you have a Full Blown off the shelf "I paid big $$$ for this program", chances are yoou will have problems. WHY? The various makers/marketers of programs that are included with the purchase of a computer, are stripped down, lacking full features of the off the shelf versions. If you have a version of Nero or Jazz or Peanuts that came with your computer and the computer is a DVD/CDRW, having no DVD burtning functions, chances are very good you have no DVD burning options in the 'free' strippeddown program. Meaning you have to upgrade your program to burn a DVD,say, via a USB burner. Now the good news may be that your DVDBurner came with a program. If so check it out FULLY to be sure it will do everything you want. I was lucky. Sonic was included with my USB DVD burner, very basic but enough to do the job burning my completed slide show with music and transitions, to a DVD RW disc that played on a set top box to TV. Said Sonic also had an option for "Exact Copy" which then allowed me to copy a fully readable DVD show disc to another disc, etc. for distribution to family and friends. I have found no incompatibility with different mfg, this scenario simply recorded. SO THERE IS HOPE. Its often a long @)(#*$)(#@*$ way to Tipparary it seems. Time and patience becomes short.     - HELP! How do I change the size of a clip? Hi, I am currently working on creatinga training video for work. I am using a camcorder and recording audio at the same time. My problem is that the clips keep cutting me off early, I'm talking about 10-20 second clips here not hours. I have used Camtasia in the past where you can adjust clip duration, but I don't see any sort of setting like this.     - Help Hi Sorry if this topic has already been covered but I am at the end of my tether and cannot find it in the archives. I am also getting stress from the missus as I have not sorted this out yet! I have a Sony DCR-DVD205 camcorder and have several DVD's already completed. I now want to transfer them onto 4.7GB DVD's and re-use the 1.4GB disks again. When I try to put them on my PC how do I only save the scenes that I want? When I look at individual files they appear to be in the format of IFO files and they open with Power DVD. Is this any good or is Windows Media player better? Secondly I have tried to transfer the files onto Windows Movie Maker for editing and the files will not copy as they are in the wrong format???? How do I change this please. I did go into a Sony centre but they were of no help at all. If anyone can help me then I would greatly apprciate it.     - Xvid-encoded avis and "has encountered a problem" (also posted on the WMM.net forums - I'm pretty desperate here) I'm really new to this, and I was having such a great time until I found that WMM absolutely refuses to take the entre second season of the show I was taking clips from. I get "WMM has encountered a problem and needs to close" every single time I try to import one of these episodes. I have done a few hours worth of reading and searching, but the common solution to this common problem don't seem to work for me: I've un-checked every single filter in Tools > Options > Compatibility. Could it still be a problem codec with everything un-checked? papajohn.org also says "A video clip with an .avi extension might be a DV-AVI file that should work... [b]or an Xvid encoded one that doesn't[/b]." According to Gspot, these episodes are Xvid-encoded. BUT, so are all of the first season, and they import to WMM just fine! So, I've no idea what the exact problem is. Do I need to change something about WMM to get these files to import? Do I need to change something somewhere else on my computer (rename files perhaps? Only, I thought you didn't have to do that if you had WMM 2.1 - that un-checking would suffice...)? Do I need to convert/recompress these files? If the latter, what's the best way to do that? Will they lose quality? I would reeeeallly appreciate help with this. I had so wanted to make this little video, and was super excited upon figuring out the basics of WMM.     - Clip inverted when imported in MM 2.1 The movie clip is inverted when I import it into MM 2.1 on my Dell desktop (XP Media Ediition).     - Video only plays with threshold effect When I capture the video and make my movie, it looks like it should in the preview screen. When I play the movie, however, it will only show with what looks like the threshold effect. Can someone help me to correct this? This only happens on one of my two computers.     - "Tools" > "Options" Freezes WMM 2.1 HELP! After successfully running WXP, SP2 for several years now and bieng fully current with Microsoft Update, I decided to try WMM 2.1 (2.1.4026) after roxio EMC 8 gave audio sync problems. Dell dimension 8100 P4 -- 1.7 GHz. 2 HD: 40 GB & 250 GB 3.8 GB DDR RAM (1.5 GB on system partition; 2.3 GB on 2nd HD separate paging partition) When I opened WMM, everything seemed fine, UNTIL I tried to access the "Options" category under "Tools" and elsewhere in the GUI to configure temp file locations, filters, etc. Every single time, the app hangs and has to be closed via Taskmaster. I've come to the conclusion that the installation has somehow been corrupted, even though WXP is giving no other signs of instability 9never once a "Stop" or other serious error. I have run several sfc.exe passes and several chkdsk passes, but that didn't help. As WMM is wed irrevocably to SP2, is there any way to repair the WMM component? I REALLY DON'T WANT TO DO A REINSTALL OR "REPAIR" the entire WXP installation, which is performing flawlessly. I'm thinking about deleting the WMM folder and then running sfc.exe. Would that work? Alternatively, is there a solution on the Microsoft XP installation CD including SP2? What file or group of files would need to be installed to replace the faulty WMM installation? PLEASE HELP. Hi its me again i figured it out now! guess i was just to lazy to work it out
so i got other people to do it for me! oh well at least i know now

In Windows Movie Maker....
To save only the audio track of a video clip...
drag the video to the "Audio/Music" track.
Then go to...File / Save Movie File / ect...ect......

This will result in a .wma audio file. Be sure
to drag the clip all the way to the left on the
timeline or you will have dead air at the
beginning.
