Yesterday I answered my own question with the problems I had over the weekend Great now I am using version 2 I have started putting the movie together . Fortunatley I save very regular these days so I dont loose too much but I note for no reason Movie maker just locks up / NO REASON ? have to use reset to get out ? Also I can use the camera control button to stop rewind play, but not the others ? Using a Canon MV550i ? Also as I capture movie parts say 5 bits sometimes I only get one captured the rest are ignored ?

How can I get a greater time span between movie clips when using a transition? so that it is more smooth between clips ?

Why cant I put a transition between a title ( created by Moviemaker) and my first clip ? wont do it ?

Machine spec is ( I have this all pre typed now cut and paste) COMPAQ Presario,
55500U
AMD athelon XP3000 = 2.17 Gh
512mb DD
120g/byte h driv
ATI radeaon 9200 ( graphics card? )
128mb video ra
Papjohn thinks this is more than Ok , so why the freezes?

In the download I got from Microsoft they suggest
500 mhz or faster
super VGA 800x60
Video adaptor with hardware 3d graphics acceleratoion and 16mb video ram
Matrox G400 G45
Sis30
Trident Bladexp12
3Diabs permedia
Video cards ATI radeon rage 128n chipset
Video card NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 and geforce chipsets

Now some of this I probably have got but what about the rest ?
If ( or we as a community ) had it would it stop the problems we experience ?

Just a thought .. I am thinking laterally and out loud here , but we all perhaps like to win the grand prix, but most of us only have a standard car ......... so in this context, will we ever win or come close ? Similarly we all want to create great movies but without the kit is this still achievable ? ........just a thought just sharing thats all !!

Freeze , doesnt capture at times, Camera functions, not all work by Harry

Hi there,

My freeze up "cure" was as follows:

(1) Right-click Desktop
(2) Select Properties
(3) Click Settings tab
(4) Click Advanced button
(5) Click Troubleshooting tab
(6) Position the pointer to the third from the left index
(7) "OK" your way back to the Desktop

To vary the time between transitions, just go to the
timeline and click the transition, then drag either end
forward or backward in time (Hint -- doing so might screw
up the synchronicity of other stuff, so do this as you
build the movie from right to left).

As far as inserting stuff goes, I've had good luck always
having a "black screen" available in my media area and
just inserting it between other clips and associating
effects with it... you can fiddle with the lenght (per
above paragraph) to get the duration you need.

Good luck

Harry

I read your message and found that on my computer I had to use the second index from the left "Disable direct draw and Direct 3D".

Thanks for the help.
