Whenever I capture video, there is flicker in the video. It is constant;
every 1-2 seconds, there will be a slight pause between frames, and the
result is that the video looks jerky. This didn't happen the first few times
I used MovieMaker. Now it happens all the time, even after I installed
MovieMaker 2.1

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I use a Sony DCR-TRV 38 (a mini DV
recorder).

Maybe time for a hard drive tune-up..... capturing and exporting video is
very hard drive intensive. Free up space and defrag it. It's also good to
minimize other running software during the process so your system can put
its energy into the video process.

I had the same problem that turned out to be My Display card (mattrox) was
set to output on the Dual output (TV) when I turned off second output
(unused) and made sure Hardware Accelleration was at max flicker in capture
went away. There is a studder in playback while capturing that is not in
the final capture that is normal. WMM puts more time on the capture and less
on the monitor. Hope this helps.
