    - Imported Video Clips are all upside down? All of my video clips that I've imported from my VCR are upside down in the collection area, then stay upside down in the Storyboard.     - Please help me with EDITING this videoclip, please Hello. I recently took some video clips with me cell phone at a party. Each clips is only 10 seconds long. I want to make the most of each clip and I found a very funny way to do it is playing with the back and forth bar when I am seeing the video. e.g. there was this guy dancing and when I saw the video I played with the back and forth bar and I manage to make the clip like a very long dance. The clip was just 10 seconds but I went to second 4 to second 3 and the to second 6 and so on playing it back and forth. MY QUESTION is as I am totally at loss is there is a free/shareware application that allow me to make a new video out of the original video clips as anything I was doing live while watching the video and going back and forth could get captured and so get a new video clip.     - Heavy Lifting... I have Adobe Premeire Pro 1.5, Edius 2.5, and several Serious Magic applications. But, for 75% of what I need to accomplish, these monster applications are overkill, not to mention expensive. For those who want a little more that what MSMM has to offer, Adobe just came out with Premeire Elements 2.0. A trial is available. http://www.adobe.com/products/premiereel/main.html For most hobbiests, to make the jump from a free application to a full NLE program that costs several hundred dollars is not feasible.     - never perfect video Hello everyone, Im not computer literate so the more I read the more I get confused. All I want is to transfer home movies to dvd with same video quality as originals. Possabily editing out some bad spots. From sony digital8 useing firewire into E-machines Mediacenter pc. AMD Athlon 64 2.20GHz--200GB ATA hard drive--1024MB DDR SDRAM Dual Channel--ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 video . Ive tryed diferent settings on WMM and also tryed InterVedio Win DVD. At best Video is (for lack of a better term) slightly digitized looking. and if there is quick motion or camera pans then video is slightly jittery. is there a fix to this or am i just excpecting too much.     - Saving a movie I have spend some three weeks trying to save a movie I have created using pictures and all Movie maker comes up with is there is not enough space to save your movie( 60 gig remaining) or unable to locate the trace files make sure they are available( on my desktop) or when trying to save to C.D unable to locate C.D writer( no other programme has this problem).     - Does Sony virus sabatoge your computer? I heard on the radio that Sony has been planting software designed to prevent copying DVDs that also slows down the computer and may lock up your computer too. I don't know how the software invades the system but I'm wondering if it came in with Sony software provided with my camcorder. I uninstalled Sony software installed earlier. Still, I see Sony applications in my disk directory. Suck files as SONYHCY.DLL, SONYHCY.DLL, SONYPI.DLL, SONYHCP.DLL, SONYHCP.SYS, SONYHCS.SYS, SONYHCC.SYS, SONYHCB.SYS, SONYpvs1.SYS are stll there.     - Movie Maker doesn't work anymore I was using Movie Maker 2 for some time, but now it doesn't work. When I start it, Movie Maker loads, on a screen appear a Movie Maker's window and then it is off. I was traing to re-install it, but it doesn't help, because Movie Maker anyway opens an old project, after that it finished normal working.     - Making chapters on a DVD Ive been burning live shows of a friends band on to DVD. There are usually 5 different videos on each dvd. The DVD burns fine but when i watch it and hit the next chapter button it doesnt go to the beginning of the video. it just goes to a random spot in it. how can i create chapters to be at the beginning of each video.     - Part of movie cutoff in Playback on W-Media Player I burned a movie containing video, audio amd music. It plays back perfectly on the viewer in MovieMaker.     - windows movie maker burning files problem hello: when i try to burn files in the movie maker it only ever burns to 58% and then stops but even if i leave it for a couple of hours and cancel it tells me i have iterupted burn process. can anyone tell me why it stops on 58% please.     - Burning My friend's 18th birthday is approaching so I decided to make her a movie with lots of pictures and videos of us. The entire thing is 1,709kb (so just over a MB). I wanted to burn it to a dvd but when I tried my standard dvd burning program, the file wouldn't even come up due to it's formatting. When I tried burning through movie maker, it appeared to only work with CDs, but I tried anyway. I left for a bit and returned and it said it would take over 12,000 minutes to complete (and the minutes were still rising.) I cancelled it and tried a cd and got the same results. Any suggestions?     - unspecified error in opening a project I have a complex project for my husband 50, I put a lot of clips together matching it with sound, frame by frame, a lot of work, saved the project - Movie Maker does not want to open it with the message "unspecified error" First I thought it might be memory problems. I cleaned the harddrive, killed some big files which were in â??collectionâ?? for some projects. I have 700 Mb RAM and 17 Gbt harddrive disk memory, so the memory should not be a problem. I tried to save just a little project, with one clip â?? it gives the same error and does not open it. By some reasons it opens all the collection, even when I donâ??t need it in my new project. I suspect that it wants to find all the references, even the old and deleted ones and does not want to work on the new project without it. Allright, I made my N6 attempts to save at least a small part of the project (700 Mbt) as a movie, and not only as a project. Save as a movie, please, all the clips are in the directory in front of me, no crossesâ??, all of them are playing fine â?? Nope, it says that canâ??t save as it is missing some clips or sources are missing or modified. I did not touch the sources, but edited a clip directly in the timeline. By some reasons it keeps memory of my very first project, which I lost, and so I deleted references to it. When I try to save it as a movie or when I check new project file properties it shows the 1st project nameâ?¦ Does it let me to work on the new project or I am stuck with the unfinished old one? I check CPU usage when it is frozen - only 2-4 % in use, and the "program is running" I aksed papaJohn - he sent me to read his comments, thank you very much, but I did not find the answer to my problem I am struggling with this project (5 converted vobs to AVI) for a week, I aready work by small pieces, but I can't open them also now, and the matter is simple, there is something wrong in WMM - I can't afford loosing all my work.     - Codec installation I need to download and install the codec for MM2 that will handle AVI files. Footage is from 8mm camcorder that I shot, recorded to DVD using my stand alone DVD recorder to import directly into MM. I convert the footage to AVI using a conversion software to create an AVI file. MM2 sees file just fine as AVI on the HD, but when importing, says requisite codec isn't installed. I thought I did just that with the automatic update codecs checkbox checked, but apparently, I still need to install. Can't locate the file and do not know what to look for.     - xp laptop shuts down when capturing video from camcorder using movie maker at high quality (large) Hello, Situation: My laptop shuts down without any messages (even after reboot) when I try to capture video from my camcorder using Windows Movie maker. At first this was happening only when I used the high quality (large) video setting instead of the recommended setting, which is pathetic video quality. Anyways - I tried my first tape which had about 20 minutes of recording at the recommended setting and it captured without any issues. After that I tried it with high quality setting, as I wasnt happy with the video quality and poof the laptop just shut down. After that I started looking the problem up and saw a bunch of references to similar problems. But none that helped me because they were mostly hardware specs related, one aspect I think I am covered on except for the video card which I doubt is a problem - details of the hardware are below. I dont get any error reports even when I reboot the laptop - dont know what the problem is but need to figure out how to stop it from happening - or my HDD will be toast at this rate.     - PPT to DVD I am trying to make a DVD for my daughter that just got married. I have a power point show that we used for bridal shower, a multitude of pictures from the wedding and a video made with a Sony DCR-HC30. I want to import the PPT presentation to MM2.     - saving edited movie to dv-avi - output is faster than input I have a movie edited with about 50 clips. There is also a music track. For some transitions, the music clips or distorts. I've run into this before with titles and transitions, so the previous solution was to save without music, creating one continuous avi file, then create a 2nd project with this one avi file and add the music in. when I try this solution for my current project, the avi with no sound ends up 2 seconds shorter than it should be (3:55 instead of 3:57). Since the video was synched to the audio, I need it to be the same length. Or I need to be able to speed up the music by this same 2 seconds. Or, if someone has a solution as to why the music distorts at the transition points, that would solve my issue as well. My pc is p4 2G with 512M ram, but I've tried on another machine with better specs and get the same results. it seems as if movie maker just cannot process too many things at once.     - Poor capture quality on Sony Digital8 I have a Sony Digital8 DCR-TRV280, that has poor capture quality. I have conneted to my laptop with the "I-DV/USB" cable. I tried the adjust the Video settings/output size, but the best resolution I can chose is 320x240. It also will not let me chose the DV-AVI to save the movie. The aspect ratio of the WMV I've been making is too small. I noticed the default setting is 320 x 240, which for me is too small. I reset the aspect ratio to 640 x 480, and this is the error message I got: "The video device is currently in use. Close any other application that is using the device and try again."     - Movie Maker stops capturing 15 min into a 1hr miniDV tape While trying to capture all of a 1hour mini DV tape Movie Maker will only record the first 15 minutes and while it still syas that it is capturing, the time & the file size do not continue to increase. A task manager check of applications shows that the System Idle process is using 98% of the cycles. And, the cameras time counter is at over 30 minutes while the capture counter has only reached 15 minutes. finished it, I need to be able to compress it and export it as a "mpeg" or
".avi" file. However, if I click on the Save to Web button in Movie Maker it
saves the file (no idea where as I haven't been able to find it afterwards)
and then asks you to select a video hosting provider. There are only two
options in the drop down box - neither of which are my host anyway!
All I want to be able to do is export my finished movie as a reasonably
compressed "mpeg" file - I can handle getting it onto the website myself. My
current web host is happy to have videos downloaded off my space there and I
know how to upload the videos to the host and how to link it off my website -
all I need is to be able to produce the finished compressed "mpeg" file.
How do you do this in Movie Maker?

select the 'My Computer' choice, not the save to web one.... you'll have
choices of WMV or DV-AVI, not MPEG....

WMV files are great for web-based viewing, but if you want MPEG, you'll need
to take the saved movie to other software to convert it.
